Restaurant had plenty of seating yet crowded during early afternoon. Server directed us to a table quickly and provided us a menu and water. They were gracious to enough to let us wait for another friend to join. The beef kare-kare was okay. It didn't wasn't as peanuty as I would have liked it. Isaw baboy was amazing. The meat was soo tender and delicious. The halo-halo was interesting. The mix of so many different sweets was unique. However, I felt the limited quantity of ingredients like flan reduced the enjoyment.

4 Plain Chicken Wings - overcooked

I have been a frequent patron of this restaurant, typically ordering food via DoorDash. I have had some issues in the past (e.g., undercooked inihaw na liempo) that I have not made a fuss about since there were still edible pieces for me to eat. Today, I ordered fried tilapia and chicken wings. They were both overcooked and inedible. We rang the restaurant to let them know about the issues with the food. Once we gave them my name, they acknowledged I frequently ordered food from them. But, they proceeded to tell us that we needed to take the food back to them. After explaining we had ordered food delivery since we didn't want to eat out, they gave us the option to send them pictures of the food. My husband had to ring them back to confirm they saw the burnt/overcooked food. They apologized then but did not really provide a solution to our current problem - which is we didn't have anything to eat for dinner. I am so disappointed by the poor customer service and the unacceptable quality of food. I am not ordering from this restaurant again.

Came here for a quick bite of lunch. Surprisingly the food was very good. Would definitely come back to try other things on the menu.

    Pork Sisig

For someone who really loves and enjoys all types of food, I must say I am pretty ignorant to Filipino cuisine. This place seemed the most authentic and had a good variety of meat and vegetarian options, as well as desserts and fun nonalcoholic drinks. The people that were sitting and eating were also clearly Filipino as they were ordering with the servers in Tagalog. The one real straight against this place is that there is no AC which makes eating hot meals feel a little less enticing. But hey, prob still more authenticity lol. My friends and I got all different things, and all of us really enjoyed what we had. I played it safe and got a few of the more popular dishes to start but I am looking forward to trying the more adventurous foods that they have on the menu. Everything we had was very well seasoned and textually interesting. -The veggie lumpia was very crispy kinda like an egg roll. We were told to eat it w vinegar so we did. Hah -The pork sisig was soft and crispy, garlic rice on the side was great. -Halo-Halo dessert drink thing was great. Not overly sweet. Ube and condensed milk and ice with jelly chunks. Really fun. No tap water only bottles. Pay up at the counter but they'll take your order at the table. Food was reasonably riced for the big portions so there was plenty to take home. Looking forward to trying more new food!

Fried milkfish, stuffed squid, and grilled pig ear skewers

Delicious Filipino dishes and street food! I ordered UberEats delivery from here on a whim and was impressed with how flavorful everything was. - Inihaw na Pusit (stuffed squid): whole squid perfectly grilled on the outside but also filled with soft and almost creamy-like squid meat, tomatoes, and onions on the inside. This was the favorite dish of the meal! - Fried Daing na Bangus (fried milkfish): crispy fried fish, tasted great with the bit of that red vinegary sauce and a side of rice. Even though it was delivered, the dish still had a nice crisp to it without turning soggy. - Grilled pig ears skewers - two street food-style pig ear skewers. These were nice and appetizing, but I found them slightly difficult to chew on. Although tasty, I probably wouldn't order these again. Had a great meal overall and definitely would order from here again. It'll be difficult decisions when that happens - the squid and fish were so good I'd want to order them again, but everything else on the menu also looks amazing to try!

Pork sisig, chicken inasal and silvanas.

I should just direct deposit my paychecks to Jayhan's because everything is phenomenal. Personal favorite is the sisig and the chicken inasal. Kwek-kwek is a great snack choice too! I've had the avocado shake a few times and that's great too and I'm looking forward to trying the mango shake. They also have silvanas by Sylvañas&Co and those are a great way to end a meal!

Stuffed squid (comes with choice of regular or garlic rice, we got garlic)

We got the stuffed squid, crispy kare kare, and pork sisig. I probably wouldn't get the stuffed squid again--it was a bit tough to tear apart to eat and I found it a bit bland. The crispy kare kare and the pork sisig were great--the pork belly on the kare kare had a perfect crispy skin and the stew was so rich and flavorful. The pork sisig was similarly flavorful and loved the bits that crisped up on the hot stone plate. I did find the pricing to be a bit expensive, but the portions were fairly large and we had enough leftovers for another meal the next day. The only other negative was that they didn't have any tap water--we had to pay for bottled water. We didn't have any issues finding parking, but maybe we just got lucky.

Crispy Kare-Kare, my favorite dish of the night

Very good grilled meat! Very good pancit palabok. The juices are from a can. Wish I would have gotten a smoothie: they looked so good.

They were packed full of flavor and one if the best pork skewers I've ever had. We also had the pork sisig, which had a great mix of tender and crispy pork pieces. It was paired great with the garlic rice. And for dessert, we had the ube sipao, which came out warm and topped with coconut and filled with ube -- the perfect way to end a meal. They have a lot of small tables. Service was pretty quick and staff members were nice and answered all questions. It's a place I would definitely return to in the future.

It's not the biggest restaurant though, so we probably got lucky (you should definitely make a res). -- Pork BBQ skewers were so delicious! The BBQ sauce was just the right amount of sweet, and the pork was cooked so well (juicy and tender). Portion size did feel a bit small for the price point, though -- Pork sisig was good. I liked how the onions / sour flavouring complemented the savoury flavour of the pork. It was a bit too salty to eat by itself (and we didn't quite finish), but fortunately we had some rice on the side to mellow it out somewhat. -- Finally we had the bangus binalot, which was good too. Milkfish is not the most common to find in the US and I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great dish here. It did not feel too oily/heavy from frying, and the fish paired excellently with the fragrant garlic rice. Overall, I had a very nice meal, and the price point was not unreasonable. I think overall the food felt a little salty, but otherwise everything was quite delicious. I think they've moved (nearby) since my visit and I'd love to re-visit and try some of their other dishes!

First, and, foremost, GETTING HERE. Parking can be a nightmare in this busy part of Journal Square as I assume most customers will be driving to get here. Parking is not allowed on the side of Newark Ave. that Max's is on and it feels like the cars parked across the street are parked there for an eternity. There is a small (and VERY tight) parking lot with about 15-20 parking spaces about 150 feet west of the restaurant, but, once again, spots are a premium and there will definitely be a few "campers" inside waiting for that 1 car to leave. If you're lucky enough to find a parking space, when you finally walk in, the restaurant looks relatively small at first as the 1st floor has a few tables, but, they do have a 2nd level as well, which I sat in the previous times I dined here. The menu is a collection of classic Filipino faves, predominantly comprised of pork-based appetizers and entrees, which are the real cornerstones of the Filipino diet. Yes, there are non-pork foods, like chicken adobo, pancit, laing, but, if you're here to really feast, you HAVE to order something with pork in it. It's a rite of passage. On my most recent trip to the restaurant, we arrived at around 12pm on a windy Saturday afternoon and, we were very, very fortunate to get a table for our family of 4 as the restaurant was pretty busy as a large party of about 15 people took up 3 combined tables alone. Since my wife ordered ahead of time as I was circling for parking, I didn't really get a chance to take a close look at the menu, but it was far from my first foray into Filipino food so I already knew what was "good". Quick recap of what we ordered and thoughts. LUMPIA SHANGHAI Classic Lumpia Shanghai served here. Addictive to keep eating them. The pieces are a bit on the tinier side, but, nevertheless, great appetizer to wet the palette. Definitely kids approved according to our kids. LAING I typically love Laing (taro leaves cooked with coconut milk), but, for some reason, the taste was a bit odd to me this time around. Typically, the coconut flavor usually really comes through and dominates the dish, however, not this last time. It was decent and my wife loved it, but I wasn't a huge fan. CHICKEN ADOBO Nothing spectacular. Not to minimize the effort that probably went into making this, but it was basically chicken dunked in a ton of adobo sauce. Yes, it was tasty, but I didn't feel like it was something I couldn't make on my own at home. CLASSIC PORK SISIG Where was the sizzle?????? This was an entrée I was reallllllly looking forward to. I LOVE sisig, especially when it's hot and sizzling, which it was supposed to be, but it was just OK once again. Also, we probably should have ordered the crunchy pork sisig, which is supposed to have bit of lechon crunch in it. It was OK, but we've definitely had much better in terms of heat, flavor and crunch. LARGE GARLIC FRIED RICE Solid garlic fried rice. Honestly, I might have enjoyed this the most - sadly. Make sure to ask for some vinegar on the side as well so that you can let the rice soak it up. Service was good throughout. Our food came out quickly and the waiters/waitresses were attentive. Just wish the food was better than we anticipated.
