Food (5/5): Awesome to have the Filipino bakery store in JSQ area. Lots of solid options for desserts and even savory. Service (4/5): We haven't had any issues with the service and the lines aren't too bad usually. Ambiance (4/5): A bit of an older looking store but overall the items are well laid out and this feels like an authentic bakery.

Such a cool Filipino bread store with various fresh-baked rolls, breads, and sweets. Attached to a restaurant so those that are new to Filipino cuisine can get a taste of everything. Keep in mind that the bread house has a $10 minimum if you're paying with card.

First time coming here with my family. Theres street parking infront of the store. I expected a lot more baked goods like the ones in the philippines but not much varieties but they sell their baked goods for a good price. They had pan de coco, pan de sal, sugar donuts, ube ensaymada, hopia, ube bread, etc. They have a lot of racks to display the baked goods but they were all scattered around of the same things.

(Tookout 12/04/2022 SU @ 2:30pm): I was ready to get my fill of some Filipino bread products from this house! In my quest to explore the various cuisine scenes throughout Jersey City, I came across Philippine Bread House after I completed a takeout order from associated eatery Cafe Pilipino located inside to add to my Filipino food craving. Having boasted an assortment of various breads, cakes, pastries, and native delicacies, I was excited to see what they had available. Apparently, there was a growing Pinoy community that I never explored when I visited last year and hardly touched this time. With a large bag filled with staple Filipino dishes, now it was time to complement that with some bread treats. Were these sweets pleasing to my palate!? PURCHASE 6pc Hopia Baboy ($4.65): Made with simple ingredients such as sugar, onion, scallion, salt, pork oil, and shortening topped with sesame seeds, these flaky pastries were fresh, soft, and easy to eat more than one per seating. The only drawback was that I felt there could've been more filling because there wasn't much. Thankfully, these were still lovely paired with green tea https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Zmu2L1UmcavViV1Rgokj0Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Ensaymada Petite ($1.75): A fist-sized brioche bread with a sweet composition smeared with butter, sugar, and cheese flakes, this wasn't filled with anything but still a lovely snack I had the next day https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5rONDGZUARr-yOM8XsOg1Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. Ensaymada Macapuno ($1.85): Filled with minimal coconut bits and flavoring, this cushiony soft bread roll was a pleasant breakfast meal the next morning with green tea - yummy https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=zHyrfN4_M_eHQf8XbZ-U8A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Ensaymada Ube ($1.85): Filled with minimal ube bits and flavoring, this cushiony soft bread roll was a wonderful dessert - very good but I would love more ube, please https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=gtJJBSYwn7VAf9tbCI06UQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. SERVICE The place was packed when I arrived, and I had to take a number. Thankfully, the line went quickly, and I had a chance to decide what I wanted. Unfortunately, at this time of day, inventory and selection was at a minimum (advisable you came early), so I grabbed a very small sampling of what they had left into a basket, and took it to the register where I was quickly taken care of. In this case, it was pretty hands-off except for the cashier. However, if you needed something from the display cases, then someone was there behind the counter to help out. All was good - salamat! PARKING (FREE; N/A this instance) This was a moot point since I walked. However, there was a sliver of a shared parking lot on the side, while there seemed to be plenty of spots along the main drag of Newark Ave. and all surrounding side streets. - nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A decent-sized bakery with a small corner reserved for cafeteria-style eatery Cafe Pilipino, it was filled with shelves, and center display, and several display cases normally stocked with a ton of goodies (the shelves were kind of bare at this time of day) https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=F-fL_9may7Wt6RKvB3Dg_A&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. There was sufficient room for patrons as they would snack around to the checkout counter. Plenty of natural lighting came through all the various windows and front door while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I noticed one TV while Filipino music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2PnWbNW1QC88Z_kBeOJKRg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops... if it weren't so freakin' cold. OVERALL Philippine Bread House was a favorable introduction to Jersey City's Filipino pastries which left me wanting more from this place and others. I definitely felt I needed to return because I really didn't have as much of an experience as I wished this time around. There were so many items I loved which were either out of stock or just didn't have enough time to try and eat it all. I loved what I bought, the prices were comparable, and the service was fine. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses. I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $10.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, although they accepted credit cards, not mine of choice... AMEX! 4.5 STARS

Growing up in JC this place was always a go to place for all those Filipino treats we all love so much and they have them all. I could really get in trouble here and almost do every time . Prices are reasonable and staff is great . This will always be my go to on my trips to JC . Keep up the great eats!!

The quality of their bread is deteriorating and they're charging too much! Not buying here again!

I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. Absolutely zero gatekeeping here. Please everyone keep patronizing this establishment. I need this place to continue to exist in my hood.

So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!
