The wait for this place is absolutely ridiculous and a farce of a farm! Be prepared to spend at least half of your day or all of your day waiting for your activity. We called ahead of time and were told it was an hour wait. We arrive and the lines are a hot mess. There is no organization or clarification as to which line is which. We figured it out by watching the confusion on other customers faces. The first line is to sign a waiver on an iPad that was disgustingly filthy. There was no hand sanitizer anywhere and the two young ladies working this station were very rude, not helpful, at all, and definitely weren't sanitizing the iPads or the pens. After each of us signed in, we were then told the wait was two and a half hours long. The next line was to actually pay for your excursions. This lady was more pleasant than the first two & after paying, she told me the wait was now three hours long. Now, I have no idea what transpired in ten minutes for the wait to exceed another hour but evidently something. In order to shorten this review, we ended up waiting SIX HOURS, yes Honey, six to ride an exhausted horse who's hooves were obviously sore. My sister went the day before we did and waited six hours as well. We thought her day was just a bad day but apparently raking in the dough, instead of planning an efficient schedule for paying customers and with slotted times for the animals to rest isn't best business practices. They have two toilets for the entire farm and there were flies blowing the trash cash and toilet. I was afraid to pull down my pants!! It was trifling. There were huge, massive, rats running throughout the stables feasting on piles of horse feces as well. The horses were tired and overworked but absolutely beautiful, which resulted in the one star rating I gave. I felt the star was more than generous. They asked us repeatedly to tip the guide, Chrissy but I honestly couldn't figure out what we were tipping her for. We were trying to ask questions about the horses we were riding prior to starting the trail and she gave one word answers as she walked past each of us She wasn't friendly, seemed extremely irritated, and was upset with a lady who's house kept wondering off to eat grass, as if the paying customer knew how to control the horse. I'm sure the horse was starving. Bottom line, this place is a cluster-f**k & the workers could careless how long your wait is or how gross their facilities are. Avoid it at all costs! There are plenty of other horse riding facilities in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, save your vacation day with your family and enjoy it instead of spending your day at this dump. read more

They failed to give us the required wrist band for our group and refused to take accountability for it. Leslie, Lanie and Rylee were honestly the best. I have never experienced such great customer and compassion as I did today by these ladies. I had been to the counter atleast 15 times haha and each time they helped me more and more making accommodations for all my family to be able to ride together during our reservation time. They never once showed any frustration trying to get us all together every approach at the window. We were excited to try the ATV and I will start with the negatives. If you do this facility plan for at least three hours or more. They say they have tours leaving every 25 minutes but we waited an hour and a half. by the time we checked in. We got there by 930 and they opened at 9 so by the time we did the waivers( you can do before online), get in payment line and then atv check in it was like 1015. We didn't start the ride until 1130! There were people after us, who were told it would be three hours and they had already waited in line and paid. Some left they were so angry. We got started and we had to stop because i had four kids on the atv and then there were four of us in the UTV. My 13 year old niece was driving with my 11 year old daughter and she fell off because my niece was too little for this atv in one of the turns. It says you should not operate less than 16 years old on the atv but they allow 13. I would not recommend it because as a 42 year old, I had to drive and put her in the utv and it was challenging for me with no experience. The dust was awful, i wish it had rained. When you leave from here plan to go back to your room and wash! We were all covered with dust. So the positive, the teenagers had a blast and the trails were very difficult for them and even my husband the difficulty level was good. read more

The allure of having multiple activities in one place was enough to make me overlook the terrible reviews. BIG MISTAKE!!!! The convenience of having multiple activities in one place did not translate at Jayell Ranch. As much as I would like to blame a terrible experience on the holiday weekend, this establishment just failed miserably at servicing their patrons. Below is our July Forth 2020 weekend experience in detail. The short review is that despite having mostly good employees, this business is extremely disorganized and a total money grab. My party of six spent an entire day completing two activities that should have taken three to four hours. Word to the wise...avoid at all cost!!! Otherwise, you will likely waste time and money better spent elsewhere. My party of six arrived thirty minutes before opening to an already long line. After waiting about forty-five minutes to pay for horseback riding and ATV tours we were told head in the direction of our activities. No indication of the possible wait time. My group headed to sign-in to the ATV's first only to be told we were group eleven. Each ATV tour is at least forty-five minutes with only about two tours going out per hour so we were already at minimum looking at five hour wait for the ATV's. Since there was such a long wait we then went to sign-in for the horseback riding which was not such a long wait. We decided to complete the horseback riding while waiting for the ATV's. My only complaint with the horseback riding was that the riding instructor rushed her portion of the session. The extremely rushed instructions ruined the first portion of our outing because the group of first time riders could not control the horses. The lack of experience and unruly horses led to panic during the first stretch of the trail. One of the first time riders was so uncomfortable with her horse that she asked to go back to the stalls and didn't complete the riding session. Despite the initial chaos, the guide that took us out was extremely professional and kept the riders calm. He reassured us that the horses were just a bit antsy and would calm down once they began riding the trail. The horses did calm down and the remaining ride was uneventful thanks to our riding guide (can't remember his name but he's in the pictures below). After we completed our ride we headed back to the ATV section that was completely chaotic. There were no guides giving any direction and new groups were signing in. The last group to sign in was number twenty three. With all the disorganized madness, there was no way group twenty three would be able to ride before closing. However, there were still people in line unknowingly paying for ATV tours that would not be able to ride the same day. The employees were advertising a three to five hour wait which should have been advertised as a six to eight hour wait. But the end goal was clear, cash in on as many unsuspecting tourists as possible. There were even a few groups that returned from the day before trying to complete their ATV tour sessions that led to even more confusion and extended the wait. After about six hours we finally set out on our ATV tour. The terrain was very rough but enjoyable. The views for the picture stop were pretty great as well. Our instructor was young but very knowledgeable and attentive. He did an excellent job. With the e exception of the horseback riding instructor guide, all the guides were very professional, knowledgeable and attentive. But they could not make up for the overall experience. This is a tourist trap. It would have been better to go to separate establishments to complete each activity because the convenience of having multiple activities in one place did not translate at Jayell Ranch. read more

WARNING: ATV EXPERIENCE NOT SAFE FOR KIDS! The Jayell Ranch advertises that their ATVs are safe for kids as young as 12 years old to drive, but there is more that parents need to know. My 12 year old was very excited to go with his dad and drive an ATV as part of a guided tour. It is plainly written on their website that 12 year olds can drive independently. I even texted with the ranch to confirm that experience was not needed. It seems reasonable that if they are going to permit inexperienced drivers, then some basic riding information might be reviewed, however the guide simply pointed out the location of the brakes and gas to each participant and began the tour. In under a minute, my son hit a ditch and flipped the ATV. In a flash, my husband realized he couldn't even physically go to him because no one had bothered to review how to put the ATV into park. At least the guide did respond quickly. My son has large scrapes on his elbow, forearm, leg, and torso. No first aid care was offered before he continued the ride as a passenger on my husband's ATV. Not only did the ranch still charge us for two ATVs, but they emailed a bill for the damages 45 minutes later, while the tour was still in progress. My husband was unaware of this because he wasn't actively checking his email, but he did note at the conclusion of the tour that the ATV was unmoved from the location where my son left it. Exactly how damages and appropriate charges were assessed when the vehicle wasn't even moved is unclear and suspicious. What is clear is that Jayell Ranch's priority is profit and not the safety of their visitors. AFTER the 75 minute ride, a band-aid was offered to my son. The size and number of the scrapes on his body would require an entire box worth of band-aids. No one even bothered to speak with my husband in person about the ATV "damages". We discovered the email two days later when we returned home from our trip. I strongly advise visitors, especially parents, to consider our experience before spending time or money at Jayell Ranch. I absolutely do not recommend this trail ride. I am sure this place is regulated by some sort of health standards or animal rights agency, but from what I saw, they need to do better. The horses were dirty and didn't appear to be taken care of. I've been on many rides at various places and never have I seen horses that didn't appear to be cleaned. All of the horses seemed so old I felt bad for riding them. They didn't appear to have enough room to adequately take care of the horses they had on the ranch either. Maybe they had a barn to protect the horses from the cold, but i never saw one. The horses were also a bit cranky. They kept bucking up on us. The saddles only had one strap tying them to the horse. I'm used to two. They didn't seem concerned about rider safety, as they didn't require helmets on the ride either. There was a 5 year old boy in our group who had never ridden. His momma wanted him to ride with her and they said no. They didn't even have his saddle on right because it kept sliding the whole ride. Then we would have to stop. Then the horses would get cranky with one another. Another part that seemed careless to me was when our path intersected with the four wheeler group. I guess the horses are used to the noise by now, but it sure seemed like an opportunity for the horses to get spooked when we were waiting for the four wheelers to pass. It certainly was an opportunity for them to get nippy with the horses around them when we stopped. The guide never told us anything about where we were riding or any kind of interaction with our group. Everyone there was nice and friendly. I have no complaints there. We made a reservations for horseback riding for our family of 4. They were running hours behind schedule. Even with our reservations, they could not honor a time close to what we had reserved. the manager offered a refund. After discussing our options as a family, we decided to take the refund. When we went back up to the counter the manager said she changed her mind and didn't want to offer a refund anymore and did not give a reason. After arguing at the desk she finally gave the refund. we wasted 3 hours of a short vacation at this place. i learned later that they often run many hours behind schedule. If you're on a relaxing family vacation don't come here because it will just raise your blood pressure. We reserved a 1:45 horse ride. Had to wait in line forever to check in and then had to wait again for 30 minutes to do the ride. They tell you to come 15 minutes early but you definitely need to go earlier than that... actually I'd recommend not going at all. Half of our group got stuck in the reservation line for over 30 minutes and missed the ride. They ultimately had to wait 90 minutes after their reserved time to ride because of the lack of care and customer service displayed here. When expressing concerns to the employees and letting them know that they were on site and unable to make it through the line they didn't care. We wanted to do the ride as a group, which is why we reserved a time slot together and showed up prior to our time only to be split up and frustrated at no fault of our own. The horses are overworked and the trail is lackluster compared to others I've done just to add to things. Trying to spend time and make memories with your family? Don't try to do it here. read more

The ATV guide took us on a "maintenance " trail that was way over the groups skill level and one member had to jump of her 4wheeler which then slowly rolled and rested near a tree. The reviews don't lie their is a wait however after seeing for myself I get it. We came to do horseback riding and arrived shortly after they opened. It took two minutes to fill out our waivers. We then had to stand in the payment line for about twenty minutes. The waivers had to be reviewed and everyone had to be weighed to make sure not to kill the horses lol. After weigh-in and payment you check in at the stable. After watching the amount of work it takes to find a proper horse for each person, check and ensure the saddle water up the horse get an entire group on each individual horse and give a proper briefing, it literally takes time. I saw lots of complaints but after seeing for myself I get it. It's a lot of work for the keepers and the horses deserve good treatment so it just takes time. Took about 15 minutes of waiting in line to sign a waiver, then they move you to a 45 minute line where they literally confirm that you signed a waiver, then they move you to another 45 minute line where you provide proof that you had your waiver verified and ultimately buy your tickets. Then you wait in line to put your name in for the activity you signed up for. I wish I was kidding. Part of the problem was that each station was staffed by a single person. They had two people working the zip lines, and when we went to put our name in line they were both our with a group, so we couldn't even do other activities while we waited to get in that line. They were busy, so they probably have little incentive to change, but with all the options in the area we certainly won't be back to this one. read more

I was asked by a guide what we came for the rides or the show. Def was the show. The guides def make you feel at ease, safe, and are super entertaining. We had Ed as our guide for horseback riding and he was super kind and made jokes. For zip li i g we had Colby and Ernie who were super awesome. We had 2 newbies in the group and they took some extra time to make sure they knew what they were doing. They were so good by the second line my nephew ran and jumped. I loved the experience and can't wait to go back tomorrow for atvs. Customer service from start to finish was excellent. Side note not all customers wore masks and if that's a thing for you just stay masked up and keep sanitizer. Wasn't something we had control of. But I still HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS. read more

I am giving this place three stars. My boyfriend took me here on my birthday during our trip. It was a weekday, so it wasn't busy at all. There were maybe ten other customers there. I would say it's usually busy during other times. The prices are a little steep for the experience in my opinion. Also, the staff is kind of iffy. When we first got there, we paid for horse back riding and 3 zip lines. We asked where we should go to first and they said it didn't matter either was fine. We chose zip lining as there was a large group at horseback. There was literally no one zip lining and the people working the zip line told us to do horseback first as it was what they "recommended". We went over to horseback and they wrote down our name to add to "the line" and sent us back to zip lining. The guys who took us zip lining were okay. One was super informative and seemed to actually enjoy his job. The other seemed like he would rather be doing anything that what he was doing at that time. Barely spoke other to tell you to go and was not friendly at all. When we got to the horseback riding, they had machinery working on the trail which made the horses frightened. They also outright told you some of the horses weren't that friendly, including my own. Not sure why they would give horses that are hard to handle to inexperienced riders, but okay then. The guide was pretty understanding but also sort of expected people to know what to do even if they were not experienced. They also really really really push you to tip all of your "guides" no matter how the service is. They also don't follow COVID guidelines. No one wears a mask and social distancing is not practiced. Parking was fine for us as I said it wasn't busy, however it definitely would be a pretty tight place if busy. Overall, a fun experience, but I won't go back to this place unless some staffing and pricing changes were to be made. read more

We arrived as walk-ins and purchased tickets for the Monkey and Bird Encounter Train Ride. The cost was $20pp + tax. We had to sign a waiver prior to admission. This can be done on your phone prior to your visit. There was a brief wait before boarding the train therefore we explored the grounds. We spent that time petting and brushing the goats. The train ride took about 1 minute to the animal enclosure. We entered the bird enclosure first. I was surprised how the birds actually landed on our shoulders, head and hands. We were given seeded sticks to feed them at no extra charge. There is one monkey on the premises named Abu. He was rambunctious and ran around to each guest's shoulders and we fed him. Very cute with great photo opportunities. Kelsie was our guide, she was very kind and knowledgeable about the animals. We enjoyed ourselves there! read more

We had a fun time horseback riding at this ranch. I was with my husband and 3 of my kids. They told us the wait was 1.5 hours after checking in. They ended up calling us much sooner. One of my son's is 5. They matched him up with the perfect calm horse Chief which I appreciated feeling he was in good hands. The cost is reasonable especially if you grab a coupon to use. Extremely disappointed in our horseback riding experience. We were a party of 12 people and waited for 3 hours for our horseback riding session. The original time promised was approximately 45 min to 1 hour. It did rain for about 45 minutes so we were pushed behind schedule even more. To make matters worse our actual riding session was only 30 minutes long. We were told it was a 4 mile ride but it wasn't more than a 1.5 miles long. We were visiting from out of state and this was our last day there. Staff was friendly and responsive though, hence the 3 stars. read more

However I wish they told us that the monkey was not able to climb on us because he was injured. You were originally supposed to go to the monkey and he could climb on you. This was my first time visiting Tennessee. We decided to tag along with a group of 16 people for our kids spring break 2019. There isn't much diversity but everyone was very friendly. There are several options to choose from. My oldest daughter is adventurous so we got her the $115 combo which included horseback riding, 3 zip lines, and ATV riding. My husband got the ATV ride with a passenger, and I was added as a passenger for extra $30 to the $115 package. You must submit a drivers license and credit card for the ATV. Our total price ended up being around $280. Others in our group paid around $500 or more depending on the packages they chose. We arrived around 10:30 am and didn't leave until 6:00pm. There isn't much to do while waiting for others to complete their activities. There is a snack area that accepts cash only. The kids had fun but it is an all day experience if more than one activity is chosen. The ATV area was a little unorganized. It is recommended to put your name on a waiting list while going complete other activities, however there is no exact time to determine how long the other activities will take. There were several families returning at the same time which seem to cause confusion. Would be better to give specific time windows. Also, several of the ATVs and UTVs were broken and kept breaking down. Because this was my first visit the experience was okay, but if I'm ever in the area again I will probably try another place to see how it compares. read more

We get there for the atv's at 6:45 and we're told they're running 45 minutes late (our time was supposed to be 7pm, the last ride of the day). We made it up to the atv sign-in area, where we were told the 4:30 group had JUST left. We then sat around and waited another 1 1/2 hours before we were told they're just going to put the remaining 50+ people waiting all in the same group (they said groups should be no bigger than 22 people). We get our helmets that the previous group just took off, they did not spray or disinfect them at all. We were told the tour was going to last around 2 hours, including a stop for pictures. Our ride lasted 40 minutes max. Nothing special about the trail, just a dirt path - you don't go up in the mountains or anything. And their concession stand was closed but we heard they give out bottles of water, so we asked the lady at the front desk and she told us "yeah I can get it but it would be easier if you guys just went across the street to the gas station". The best part of this place was the random mouse we found in the bunny pen. The only things that put in effort here were the two bunnies humping. Don't recommend. read more

The ATV tour was an awesome experience! My boyfriend and I came here and had a blast. We've never experienced anything like this before. Some of the trails were challenging because it had rained the same day earlier but it was so much fun! There were a lot of trails but I do wish we had some more flat ground to go fast. Nate was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable and had great communication. We paid about $130 for both. The ride was all together about an hour. I went with a group of 5 to Jayell Ranch to go ATV riding. We got there on Friday and there was a four hour wait. The director told us that we can come back in the morning and be at the top of the line since we already paid and we didn't want to miss out since it was close to closing. Our guide was very fun and personal and let us get really dirty and go faster than we would if we had children with us. He took pictures of us at a lookout with no problem too! And in addition, these poor horses were chained by their neck on a short chain, to a board so they could barely move; there was no stalls just out there in the cold-tethered to there short chains, these horses were so full of mud and my best guess are Never brushed. The conditions for the horses and the trail were the worst I've ever encountered. I'm an experienced horse person and these poor horses were forced to walk a 12" deep muddy trail of muck. They were slipping and sliding and getting lame and worse with every step. It was HORRIBLE. These horses are not treated like living things, they are being used for making money. Don't go there , it's pathetic. They'll stay open as long as people pay to go. They should shutdown until the trail drys up before all of the horses end up with broken legs. read more

From the moment we arrived the staff was extremely warm and welcoming. Every single employee stopped what they were doing to greet us. We were offered hot chocolate (for $1) as we signed the waiver for the activities. There are a lot of options, zip lining, horse back riding, ATVS, playground for the kids, petting areas. At first, I was a little hesitant to pay for the 6 zip lines but I was glad I did. The staff was easy to talk to and they made it effortless. One person stayed with you to launch you and another person caught you on the other side. You need ZERO knowledge to zip line. They start you off on the Baby which is about 300 ft and you get all the way up to 3000 ft. There are some that you are able to do tricks on and others that you had to ride smoothly (based on proximity of trees). The staff went out of their way to make this experience memorable.
