SERT Data Recovery

Quoted me $899. flat rate (meaning that this was what I was going to have to pay no matter what!)…read morefor a USB flash drive recovery and tried to claim that the process was extremely difficult and that no one else could handle it as well as they. Ended up going with another outfit and paid less than half what I was quoted by SERT, and when I informed "Todd" from SERT that I had paid $400. (which would have been $300. with the outfit I went with, except that my drive was encrypted so it cost an extra $100.) and recovered all of my data, Todd replied (after-the-fact of course) that I would have paid less with them, which is absurd based on that he was arguing beforehand about how his $899. fee was reasonable. It would appear that there are "two" Todds, because sometimes he replies with somewhat helpful messages and other times seems to be irritated and writes negative emails that appear to stem from insecurity and resentment that other companies out there are thriving charging far less for the same services. My advice would be to avoid SERT at all costs - from what I can see, this is another of those outfits that gets hold of your broken drive and then extracts whatever they can from you. My review is based on the inconsistent quality of customer service and that they quoted me $899. and assured me that no one could do the job for less, and then had the gall to try and claim that they would have done it for less, after I did find another outfit that did do the job of 100% data recovery. Very unprofessional attitude. In sum: this is how the "data recovery game" works: most all of these guys are more crooked than a barrel of snakes and will extract as much as they can out of you once they have your drive. Some will quote a very low initial price and then once they have your drive will quote something like three hours of work at average $300. per hour - others like SERT will quote you around a thousand right from the getgo - in sum, most of these guys try to get the magic figure of around $1000. from you. If you can, as I did, find a place with great reviews and a flat fee that is reasonable, go for it. Yes, data recovery is not cheap, yes it will cost you a few hundred dollars, but no, there is no reason to pay more than that, not even for "chip off" USB drive recovery, it still should not cost more than a few hundred dollars. Do not pay more than a few hundred regardless, hold your ground, and you won't go wrong. I gave them two stars (versus just one) because SERT was up front about price gouging - versus some of the others that lure you in with some hope that they will charge little, and then end up charging as much or more than SERT anyway. P.S. Be wary of five star reviews for companies that come from Yelpers with just a few reviews....

Look, data recovery is not cheap. Todd was up front that he may not be able to save everything, but…read moreasked what types of files we would like to prioritize. Our external hard drive with over a TB of data was 80% recovered and the turnaround time was less than 24 hours. The 20 years of videos, photos, and music was worth every single penny. Yes, there are cheaper places out there, BUT my IT friends all had the same recommendation, SERT. I did a Yelp quote with another business and even they recommended SERT. I would absolutely use Todd again. Again, yes it is super expensive, but this man has an amazing skill set and it is worth the price.

I encountered WeRecoverData after looking for a data recovery service for my two 1 TB RAID 0…read moredrives. I was firstly advised "The first step is to have our engineers examine the RAID in order to determine the steps required to complete a successful recovery, the time frame needed and the cost. This evaluation is free and without obligation," yet was charged $95 for "SSD Evaluation Fee" (possibly what they called a diagnostic fee) before even sending the drives. I chose to send the drives to their Orlando location, two hours away, but when I asked about their offer for a free shipping label they sent me a Fedex label for Miami. When I asked about this, they said the Orlando location was just a forwarding location and the lab itself is located in Miami. At Fedex, I paid $10 to have the item wrapped in bubble wrap and boxed proper. A few days later, they quoted $2400+ for recovery. I declined. They said it would be $37 to send the drives back through USPS Ground Advantage. When I received the drives, they were in a thin bubble mailer with a generic 'Fragile' sticker on it. Overall, I was completely dissatisfied with such service. Personally, I also found their customer service lacking in warmth and their written documents geared towards throwing off less-technical clients. I went with a competitor who quoted $700 all inclusive and they were successful.

I had given up all hope of ever getting my work back. I found WRD through a google search and decided to take a chance with them. They were able to recover my lost data and give me access to my files- all remotely. I so appreciated the help they gave and the professionalism they showed in the process.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I went in to Techy this afternoon as the back of my iphone was cracked due to an old and bad battery. I went in to Lamar who told me he could fix it no problem as well as replace the battery. While he was taking down my information, I received a phone call and Lamar heard the entire conversation and knew my phone was working just fine - there were no problems with the phone itself, just the cracked back. When I went to pick it up three hours later, it was NOT WORKING AT ALL. I asked Lamar for help several times and he told me he was too busy. I left the store and then went back in and demanded he look at it. He told me it was my carrier, I knew it was NOT the carrier as it was working just fine as I said. I ran quickly to Xfinity in the same plaza and at first they said it was not working because I had no Sim card, (Lamar removed the SIM card and did not put it back) so I ran back over and Lamar swore he did not touch the Sim card. I went back to xfinity and they were kind enough to give me a new SIM card but the phone would not work at all. They said they had never seen all the error messages, they called their top guy in to help me and he could not fix anything, he called HQ and said that TECHY definitely broke my phone and the only hope I have is the apple store. I went back to TECHY and again LAMAR would NOT look at my phone and told me I was crazy and he did not touch the card or do anything to my phone. Um, why is it now broken? I am now home at 8pm with no phone, no back up phone and will go to apple first thing in the morning. I am so upset, I should have gone to APPLE in the first place. DO NOT GO HERE - they are extremely incompetent and RUDE. I can not believe they get any good reviews. I just went in and re read the reviews and apparently I am not the only one whose phone they broke. Read the bad reviews before the good ones, I wish I had. I am giving one star so this goes through, but if I could i would give MINUS 1000.
