I dropped off my external hard drive on a Thursday 4/25/2019 to get it recovered, Kevin told me most likely it can be recovered about 90% chance and that it would be done in a week. So I said great, was happy to use their services and spend the money. $175 for an evaluation fee and then $420 if they can recover it successfully. Carol said by Monday they would send me a directory link to my email to be able to see what files come up on the external hard drive. I was really anxious for this as I am in college and needed files for school. Carol said they work over the weekend and it would be no problem. Monday comes around no directory link, no progress stated. That's fine, I decided to give it time as I know recovering data takes time. By Wednesday evening I received a voicemail from Kevin stating the hard drive will be ready Thursday morning 5/2/2019 (next day) for pickup. Super excited to hear this as they said it would take a week. That evening that Kevin called, I was not even present at the store they went ahead and charged me the $420 dollars without any proof of progress or recovered data. I never even received the directory link I was suppose to get. So fine I see they charged my card and I figured I will go tomorrow morning to pick it up. Next morning I am on the way to go pick it up and I am now told it won't be ready till Friday 5/3/2019. And I'm like why? Kevin said it would be ready today. They said they had a power outage and the progress was set back. Well I thought it was recovered and done considering they charged my card $420. At this point I am a little annoyed and upset so I said fine I will wait tomorrow. Friday comes around and I call asking if it's ready to pick up and they said no it's not ready. I go ahead and go in person to see what is going on. They tell me it will for sure be ready by Monday. Monday 5/6/2019 rolls around and I call asking about the progress. I am told it's at 30%. At this point I start to feel like they are lying to me. I first received a voicemail from Kevin saying that its ready for pickup Thursday 5/2/2019 and then it's not even ready. So Kevin tells me to call next day 5/7/2019 on a Tuesday. I ask Kevin if I can see any of the progress or any files that may have come up as I am really anxious for certain files for school. Kevin proceeds to tell me that's "its a secret and I am not allowed to see any of the equipment nor my hard drive" this is clearly upsetting and Carol told me that at any time I can go back and see the equipment and progress. Kevin is clearly lying to me about the progress and I no longer feel comfortable about doing services with Eco Data Recovery. I go ahead and head over to their location to retrieve my hard drive and cancel the order. As I walk in to pick it up, I signed a paper agreeing to pay the $175 evaluation fee but I never agreed upon paying the $420 as this was only agreed to be paid if it's successfully recovered. Since they were clearly not working on my hard drive I figured I would go through my credit card company and dispute the charge. As I was done dealing with the employees at Eco Data Recovery. I don't take lightly people scamming me and stealing my money. I went ahead and disputed the charge and Eco Data Recovery had the nerve to dispute back and say that I was present among being charged and that the services were completed. First of all Eco Data Recovery closes at 4:30-5:00 p.m during the week. It is closed off to customers around this time. I was charged at 5:18 p.m and on 5/1/2019 on a week day. (Paperwork they provided to my credit card company) I was not present for the charge and the JOB WAS NOT COMPLETED. I am a 24 year old college student. $420 dollars is a lot of money for me. Carol and Chuck are long time business owners and it's disgusting the way they are trying to charge me for a job that wasn't even done and to someone who can't really afford it to begin with. I live in CA and was initially leery about sending my hard drive to FL. However, they did give me the best price quote. I also have the number for Carole and we texted off and on which eased my concerns. Everything went smoothly. I was not happy about cost but realize i would have hated the cost no matter where I went for this. I already had a backup hard drive so sent that with the damaged one. They were able to recover but I was told they would be up front if they could not and would not charge me full price if that was the case. Got everything back within 2 weeks (probably sooner but cannot remember exactly). I would recommend them if this ever happens again. read more

Worst business ever! I had taken my hard drive to get fixed here and told me they would have it completed in about a week. I never got a call back saying it was completed and never got my refund back. It's been 6 long months still trying to have this issue resolved. Horrible I sent a drive over 3 months ago. I had to call them to get any response. Today I got an email they could not recover my data off the disk. I sent them an email with in minutes they told me the news. what happened to all the days they had my drive 3 months and no information. I got an email from them after I sent one about what I thought of the company. The person told me it was my fault they did everything they could and contacted me 7 times. Eco Data Recovery are reasonably priced and got to my job right way (with an expedition fee, which still kept the job in the "reasonable" range). The downside? They didn't recover my data, which I wasn't necessarily expecting. When I received the drives back, I cloned them and recovered the data myself using widely available software! Their customer service and interaction with me was a mixed experience. I called several times because I was obviously anxious about the progress of the job and I was made to feel like a leper. They also have a hard fast 5pm closing time, and will not make any effort to handle their customers at any time approaching 5pm. They made no effort to reach out to me and let me know what was going on with the job. During all of my interactions with Eco Data Recovery I was made to feel like I was doing something wrong whenever I contacted them. When I informed Eco Data Recovery that I recovered the data myself they were a bit incredulous, which is consistent with the general contempt that they displayed towards me during the whole process. Since I spent quite of bit of money on their services along with the money spent to recover the drives myself, I pressed Eco Data Recovery for a bit of relief. The president of Eco Data Recovery offered to refund a portion of the fee to my card. They never refunded the card and when I followed up several times, they brushed me off. The one lesson I learned is that when you are in extremely stressful situation (i.e. failed drive), to try remove your emotions from your process, stop panicking, research your options on the internet (not always the easiest) and proceed with caution. I wasted a lot of money and time using Eco Data Recovery and only wish that I had the benefit of reading feedback like this when making my vendor choice. read more

I had a flash drive that died. Check with the IT guy at my University (U. of Florida), went to my local computer fixit shop. They couldn't help me, but the shop referred me to eco data recovery. The told me to send it down, along with a new one, told me how much it would cost if they could not fix it, and how much it would be if they could recover all my files, and how long the process would take. BE WARNED - Absolutely horrible. Sent in 2TB drive that had 750GB of data. I had used Runtime software and was able to recover everything off the drive but in an inefficient manner and so I chose to send it in to the "professionals". This drive was filed with nothing but artwork, photos, documents, contracts, and video. It contained almost every photo of my daughter who was born after my last backup (my mistake in not backing up more often). Needless to say the data is precious and valuable. After their workup, they informed me that only 71GB was available for recovery. I told them there was much more than that and they came back with a new total of 258GB and stated the rest was lost to damage caused by the heads and my continued attempts to recover it using the software recovery. I received the drive and data back and was devastated by the massive gaps in data missing that had not been recovered. At that point I plugged it back into my external enclosure and was going to try to recover a little more using the Runtime software when I realized I could access some of it just using Windows Explorer! These files were uncorrupted, easily accessible, and not recovered using Eco Data Recovery. Knowing there was physical damage, I didn't want to continue with software recovery but have it at another company that is able to recover 747GB Repeated attempts to get a refund from Eco Data Recovery have been met with unsatisfactory results. The guarantee on their website appears useless. They said they did the job I authorized, but it was only after the misrepresentations of the company that 258GB was the only recoverable data - FALSE as the other company (Drive Savers) recovered up almost 3X the data. They have a great price, but now have just over $3000 invested in recovering my data. I had thought that if they couldn't do the job I would be able to get a refund and use the money for someone who could, but as I said, the guarantee didn't hold up when put to the test. read more

I paid my fee and sent a drive to these guys. After three months and no response, I had browbeat them to get my drive back. They never reported what they found and I had to continue to call them to find out the deal. They said the drive was "destroyed inside and not recoverable". I asked them where the report was and they said, "you just got it". I sent it off to Gillware, no charge, for a second opinion and they restored the entire drive onto a new hard drive. The price was worth the restore. No questions. I requested my money back from Gillware and they laughed. They said they actually use Gillware for second opinions too and that the drive could have unlocked itself when they sent it back to me. These guys are a joke. Do not send Eco Data money or your drive for that matter. Gillware does not charge to evaluate a drive and they get the job done. read more

They seemed very knowledgeable and professional. They had me send my external drive. They charge a $150 processing fee to see if they can do anything; if not, they say they'll send back your drive (at your expense of course). If they can recover data, it's $700 for my 1.5 TB external drive. Foolishly, I sent the full $700 up front. They got the drive, confirmed it was too far gone to recover anything,and agreed to send back my drive (and an additional back-up drive I sent them). No word for 60 days. Finally I filed Better Business Bureau and Consumer complaints. They sent me back the busted drive, and the back-up, but not the $550 balance. It's been three months read more

A few years ago I had written a bad review and it was taken down. I never noticed, but I feel it really needs to be posted. I sent my drive to Eco Data Recovery to attempt to retrieve data from my crashed drive. After 2 days I was told the data was unrecoverable. I had a few questions, (they let you speak to the technician). The next day I called another company. They asked me what Eco Data Recovery had done to the drive. I called them back with a few more questions and I was cursed at for asking if I would be getting back the extra parts that they used to attempt to make my drive work, I was told not to call back and hung up on. They would not answer any of my somewhat technical questions. I attempted to call a few more times, very confused by their reaction, and I was hung up on again. They proceeded to call my cell phone from their fax machine 8 times in a row, so the fax went off in my ear. (I could see the number on my caller ID, so I knew it was them) I tried to call them and tell them that they were accidentally calling my phone and the Owner hung up on me again. I sent my drive to the second company, drivesavers.com, and 7 days later I got my data back. I was crushed when I was told the data was unrecoverable and even more crushed when I was treated so horribly, making me question this company's capability to perform this service. I was charged a minimum fee of 175.00 for a service I don't believe I received. Don't use them, they are horrid. I highly recommend Drivesavers.com. My son recorded 188 video clips for a huge rapper (artist) in Miami and they not only recorded over it by accident, they even formatted the SD card. We knew it was hopeless and they already took responsibilty by contacting these scary dudes to tell them the bad news and offer to return the money and shoot next video free.
