Mark Howard Automotive - Mustang they fixed in one day

Mark Howard has been my go-to repair shop for years. They were recommended to me by a family friend…read morewho has taken his trucks there forever. Their prices are fair and turnaround time is usually pretty good, but mostly what impresses me is their honesty. I have several examples of that, but the most recent is: I took my car into a dealership for an oil change. They did a free inspection as well and came back and told me all sorts of stuff needed to be done. I said, "Thanks; I have a place I take it for repairs so I'll see what they say." Took it to Mark Howard and told them what the dealership said. They checked out every single thing and found that NONE of it needed to be done. NOT ONE THING. Instead of taking my money and just saying, "Oh yeah, that totally did need to be done," knowing it didn't, they instead said the other dude was essentially full of it and didn't even charge me for their time checking out all the lies! This is not the first time either. I'll probably be bringing my cars there as long as they stay open! All that to say: don't let the junk yard appearance of all those cars in the lot turn you off. This is the real deal: an honest, reasonable mechanic that will keep your car going as long as possible!

If I could give them more than five stars, I definitely would! After my car being at another shop…read morefor over two months, yes, I said two months, my car worked for one day, and when I tried to turn it on in the morning, it would not start. Needless to say, I did not send it back to that auto mechanic. Mark, Howard automotive fit me in last minute even though it is a busy Fourth of July weekend. Then the next day my other car did the exact same thing just would not turn on, so I got it to Mark Howard automotive and they literally fix my car the same day because they could hear the desperation in my voice. I am so grateful for them, and they are super reliable!

I took my car here because of the good reviews. I took it in on a Friday afternoon right before…read morethey closed. They stated they would not be able to look at it till Saturday morning which was fine. About three or 4 o'clock they called me and said that it was going to be a rear wheel speed sensor. They called on Wednesday and said it was finished. I went to pick it up about five minutes before they close because I had just gotten off of work. I picked up the car about a mile down it was still doing the same thing. So I had it towed the next day because I did not want to cause any further damage to my car. They called me the next day said it was fixed and took me on a ride with one of the mechanics or the owner. He told me you have to baby it you can't just press on the gas and go. So he would press on the gas and then let back up some and it did get up to a certain speed. I drove it the next day and did what he said. My husband drove my car that afternoon and it was still making the same noise and doing the same thing. I took it to a dealership and have them put it on the diagnostic machine. And it was the catalytic converter. But I paid $400 for them to replace a part and the part that they replaced was actually a different kind of sensor that did remove the lights from my dash. The ABS light and two other lights so whatever sensor they replaced that they did fix that problem but they did not fix the main problem that I actually took it there for. I might take it back here because they did fix one issue but it was not the main issue that I needed fix. But I guess the dealership said that a catalytic converter would not come up on the diagnostic so but I would assume that most mechanics would be able to figure out that issue.

The short version of the story is that we had to go back to Mr. Transmission (535 Cassat Ave…read moreJacksonville) six weeks after a transmission repair at the tune of $2800 - of course stranded on the interstate! Nine days later the car is fixed again but I wanted the owner to call me about reimbursing the nine days of rental car because I shouldn't of had to rent a car in the first place! He won't even return my call he makes his office manager relay messages and hides behind the fine print on the back of the contract that says "they don't reimburse rental cars". Well if this was my first repair I wouldn't have asked for the rental car reimbursement but I shouldn't have to go back the second time! It turns out that Mr Transmission was given a faulty part but the owner should recoup the money from that parts business and not expect me to foot the bill for the rental car! They didn't charge me for the second repair, but that should go without saying. I would stay clear of this establishment that's nothing against the workers I just have a problem with the owner he won't even call me back that's not the way to run a business so owner buck up and do what's right! I will keep you updated if I do get some action out of this guy, but if he was doing right, he wouldn't be afraid to talk to me, but he knows what he is doing is wrong or he wouldn't have a problem talking with me! Don't hide behind some clause you have built into your work orders to keep from having to pay out money...that isn't the kind of business practice that made Mr. Transmission a 50 year, national company!!! The backlash from an unhappy customer (not a paid actor on some advertisement) and word of mouth on social media that paints a true picture of what is going on will cause more financial damage to a business than paying out a car rental bill - but some people just don't get that I guess. And the other thing the owner needs to remember is the core values that the Mr. Transmission website posts: "Through our core values of DRIVE, Dedication, Respect, Integrity, Vision and Enthusiasm, we value all human life and strive to have a positive impact for all nationally and within our communities" I copied and pasted that directly from the Moran Family of Brands parent company website for Mr. Transmission! DO WHAT IS RIGHT!!! I will review back with an update! Your move Mr. Transmission owner!
