I'm new to cycling and don't know much about bike maintenance, but Don took the time to explain everything clearly. Turns out, when you have run-flat tires, you're supposed to top off the sealant every 3-4 months. They actually have a flat tire service deal where, with a one-time payment, I can bring my bike back in anytime for sealant refills as long as I own it. That kind of peace of mind is awesome. Great bicycle shop, and the best Jax Bicycle store I've ever been to. They stock a lot of bicycles. Jax focuses on Trek Bicycles, and this Jax is no different. Their selection of road bikes, mountain bikes, plus electric road and eMTB bikes is very good. They have a nice selection of accessories, clothes, and other bicycling accoutrements. There is a capable repair/tune-up facility on site. The staff I dealt with here was very accommodating and took their time to explain the details of the various bicycle models too me and to answer all my questions. They even let me ;pedal the bicycles around the store without complaint. It isn't generally one of my go-to features of a bicycle store, but I do pay attention to, and judge an establishment based upon their bathrooms. In my experience, a manager that pays attention to non-core services, like bathrooms, is an excellent proxy for how dedicated the people at the establishment are. Good bathrooms are an afterthought to many, but nice bathrooms show a stores care and consideration for their customers, and this bicycles bathroom is superlative, spectacular. It's cleanliness is just the beginning. Their toilet is a comfortable oasis. Parking is free and ample. If you are in central Orange County, and looking for a Trek bicycle, go here. This review is over due. I bought a new Trek mountain bike 14 months ago and I brought my bike in because it wasn't shifting properly. The cables do stretch a bit when new. They fixed me up promptly. I was delighted of course. Yesterday I bought my bike in again thinking the worst, the crank had an awful sound. Turned out the chain was too dirty. I went in there and asked for the same part I bought last time which they have record of me purchasing yet the dumb sales guy is grabbing another part that costs way more. Went to the shop to buy a bike for my 7 year old son. looked around for some help for 10 minutes. Nothing. So I told my son to try one of the bikes while I took the initiative to ask someone in the back. An older man with long grey hair and a mustache said he could help. When I told him I was looking for a bike for my son and he wanted to measure his height so I told my son to come over and he rode over and we took his height and I then told my son to put the bike back. As he was riding away, this older man raised his voice TWICE at my son that the bike he was riding was a customers. My son had no way of knowing that and even though I told the man to relax and that my son didn't know that he gave a half-hearted apology (looking away and not even looking me in the eyes). So due to this RUDENESS and LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, I said "Nevermind, you have a nice day" and started walking out of the store, when I looked back I saw him shaking his head and rolling his eyes at me. Yet ANOTHER form of professional behavior (sarcasm). If the owner is reading this I suggest you give your staff training on being polite and professional and shed your staff of employees like this one quickly or you'll quickly lose out on a lot of sales. read more

My mom purchased a pair of bicycle pedals on January 15, 2025. Roger, the cashier, asked my mom to write down her phone number on a piece of paper to enter it in their system. She had taken her credit card out of her wallet to pay, and left her wallet on the desk next to her left hand. As she was leaving the store, she realized she had left her wallet on the desk. She went back to the cashier and asked him if he had seen her wallet. He said she accused him. At the time, no one else was present except my mom and Roger, the cashier. My mom called the police to report the issue and they came. Two hours later, when my mom returned home, her wallet was in her mail box. tl;dr We're pretty sure my mom's wallet was stolen by the cashier, only to be returned to her mailbox 2 hours later because they were scared when she called the police. Above and beyond customer service! I went in looking for specific brake pads for an ebike. I couldn't find them anywhere and their website said they had two in stock. They couldn't find them in the shop but every guy got on it and searched online and throughout the shop. No luck with that so I had given up. I rode my bike there and bought a cage and water bottle, I asked the cashier if they can help to install the cage on the bike, they said yes if you pay extra 10 dollars, since the installation only need 2 screws which will take less than 1 min , I said I can do it myself.after I tighten the screw half way and found need a screw tool to fasten to bottom , I asked the if I can use their tool to do last step,he refused me because they don't borrow tools! We have used Jax for years. They have had helpful staff. We bought a new bike and new tires from them. Recently, the tire we purchased went flat and we realized it was punctured. I would not recommend taking your bike here for repair. Brought my bike in for center shocks repair, they have to send my trek to Murrieta for repair, I agreed it took 4 weeks. Without any calls to let me know any eta. Got the bike back the shocks are still not working properly and my collar pin is missing from my brake pads. Apparently someone at the warehouse took it off. read more

I needed a bike immediately as I had damaged mine and I was going on a bike tour in a few days, unfortunately, I let them upsell me and paid over $ 1,000 more than what I needed, they tried to upsell me on an even more expensive bike with electronic shifters! Fortunately I told them no. I also let them install tubeless which was another mistake, later I spoke to the bike mechanic there and he said tubeless on road bikes is not a good idea, they don't hold the pressure and they are a hassle to repair while on the road, you have to have sealant, carry a special stem removal tool and you have to carry a spare anyway. They also told me you could not patch the tires, meaning you had to buy a new one when you have a leak, that is false, I have patched them several times and there are patch kits on-line available. Maybe for mtn. bikes tubeless tires make sense as they are low pressure. For Treks, I recommend the Trek Store on Prospect in Tustin. read more

JAX used to have a great reputation in the local cycling community. Over the past 10-15 years we've joined their group rides when they had them and had our road bikes serviced there. However, the shop no longer has the same feel these days. I still love the older Dave from the back but terrible experiences with the younger Dave (white male who identifies as the store manager) have sent us to Rock N Road. I thought my experiences were isolated and never botherd leaving any reviews until I heard similar feedback from others from my ride group. read more

Poor service experience. I bought my bike at Jax back in 2022 and although it was still riding perfectly, I thought it was time to get a tune-up to prevent any issues. Brought it in right before Christmas 2024. They recommended a new chain and tires in addition to the tune-up, which was fair since I'd ridden it a fair amount. They had it about ten days and when I got it back it was shifting horribly and the chain was even slipping. I brought it back a week later and they confirmed the issue and checked it in. A week later I picked it up again. They did a new cassette and cable, only charging me for the latter. It seemed OK at the time, which was apparently a relief to the mechanic because he was kind of like 'good, because I don't want to mess with it any more if I don't have to,' which didn't inspire a lot of confidence. Unfortunately a couple weeks later now it's still having issues shifting reliably, which all started with Jax's service. It's not that easy for me to get back over there and I really hate to keep taking something in over and over, so I'm probably going to just hang in there with this as long as I can and then find another shop. Although the staff are all friendly and professional, this was an immensely disappointing experience. read more

You can buy bikes at major stores like Target or Walmart, but the QUALITY will be compromised. I really wanted to buy a bike that I'd feel proud of, very comfortable with, and that was high quality. Immediately when I arrived, I was given EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE and Luke was so THOROUGH in his insights about which bike would be BEST FIT MY NEEDS. He didn't pressure nor sell me. I decided to buy my Electra bike and it was assembled before the expected date! The best perk is that I can return to service my bike here as well. Do not skimp and buy a cheap mass produced bike.
