"TOTAL SCAM - Damaged my bike and charged more than advertised -- very disappointing experience"…read more I normally don't leave negative reviews, but this experience needs to be shared. 1. Bike was returned with damage After picking up my e-bike, I noticed a deep scratch on the frame and marks on the Shimano Altus derailleur. It also appeared that someone attempted to cover up the scratch with paint instead of informing me. When I raised the issue, they denied responsibility. 2. Pricing does not match their website Their website clearly lists $30 per brake adjustment. I had both front and rear brakes adjusted, so the expected total should have been $60. However, I was initially told to pay $40 per brake ($80 total). Only after I showed them their own website pricing did they reduce the price by $10, and I ended up paying $70. The receipt reflects this "discount," which only happened after I pointed out the discrepancy. Even then, the final price was still higher than what is advertised. 3. Lack of transparency and accountability Between the unexplained damage and inconsistent pricing, this experience felt dishonest and unprofessional. I have documentation (website screenshot and receipt) to support this. I would recommend others double-check pricing in advance and inspect their bike carefully before leaving. **Update after owner response:** After reading the owner's reply, I want to clarify several key points for accuracy and transparency. First, the owner described my bike as a "one-year-old used bike," which is incorrect. I have proof of purchase from late December 2025 showing it was purchased brand new. I will be uploading documentation to support this. Misrepresenting a customer's property in a public response is concerning. Second, the claim that external parties (Beeline and Rad Power) concluded no damage was caused is presented without any supporting documentation. In contrast, I have maintained photo evidence and receipts. Readers can draw their own conclusions when only one side provides verifiable proof. Third, regarding pricing: regardless of internal explanations about brake types, the publicly listed pricing does not match what was initially quoted. The adjustment to the final bill only occurred after I referenced their website, and even then, the total remained inconsistent with advertised rates. Customers should be aware of this discrepancy and confirm all pricing clearly in writing before authorizing any work. It is also worth noting that the business now operates from a different type of location compared to its previous retail storefront. The current address appears to be within an industrial/business park rather than a traditional customer-facing retail shop. While this may be a business decision, customers may want to do additional due diligence regarding service scope, pricing structure, and business credentials before proceeding. At this point, the combination of inconsistent statements, lack of verifiable supporting evidence, and pricing discrepancies speaks for itself. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this shop to document their bike condition thoroughly before service and to confirm all pricing in writing in advance. For transparency, I have taken screenshots of the owner's response to preserve the original context in case any edits are made later. **Based on my experience, I would not feel comfortable returning.**

I can't say enough good things about Brett at Rock & Road Cycle. I contacted him to schedule a…read moreservice appointment for my E-bike after noticing a safety issue with the handlebar fitment. Instead of making me wait for an appointment, Brett simply said, "Just swing by and I can take care of it on the spot." I brought the bike in right away, and within minutes--boom--he had the issue fixed. I honestly expected it might cost me at least $100, but Brett wasn't finished there. He also noticed a slight brake issue and made an adjustment to ensure everything was working properly. When I asked how much I owed him, he said, "There's no charge; it was my pleasure." That level of service and customer care is rare these days. Brett went above and beyond, and I truly appreciate his professionalism, expertise, and willingness to help. Great service, great customer service--highly recommend Rock & Road Cycle!

I brought in my Specialized e-bike battery after Specialized had already told me it needed…read morereplacement. Since replacement batteries are no longer available, I specifically came here hoping they could determine whether the battery could be repaired or rebuilt internally. After waiting almost 4 weeks, I was simply told that the battery needed replacement--the same information I already had. I was charged $200 for the diagnosis. The work order only states "test battery," which did not reflect what I believed I was requesting. Better communication and clearer documentation of the requested service would have avoided this misunderstanding. Unfortunately, I left feeling that I paid $200 without receiving the service I was actually seeking. That review is factual, fair, and difficult for the business to dismiss. If the owner after reading the review contacts me and offers to refund part of the $200, I would consider accepting it and updating the review to reflect that they made an effort to resolve the issue. Businesses that respond constructively deserve credit for that, even if the original experience was disappointing.

DETAIL: Velofix in Pacific Palisades 90272 (2018-2021): Comms, promptness, reliability, service quality were all excellent. Velofix in Newport Coast 92657 (2022-2025): Decent/Mixed; see below. Service by RST in Newport Coast: Excellent, but probably over-subscribed (busy). Comms (tech to customer): Good while onsite, but unreliable or non-existent via SMS. Comms (company to customer): Not good; see below: COMMS/SCHEDULING: With little (or no) notice to me, Velofix has rescheduled service appointments for 2-3 weeks off. In 2025, Velofix has cost me time+revenue, as I'd made arrangements to leave work to host this tech. After speaking w/ a Velofix operator about this last week, Velofix again no-showed (3x now), with diff excuses each time. Giving the local bike Tech the benefit of the doubt (as I'm confident he's busy), this feels like a comms/dispatch problem, especially as I continue receiving (automated) bills for a full service/tuneup that has not yet been executed. IMPRESSION: Seems that Velofix is dispatching tech(s) as widely/quickly as possible, but Velofix has not yet invested in training the dispatchers/schedulers to ensure the customer experience is excellent (or even passable). DECISION: I can no longer rely on Velofix to meet their committed/scheduled service appts, and have switched to BarceloBicycles.com which provides excellent (and prompt) service.
