I'm in my 70's and in the last 6 years I've replaced both knees, both shoulder joints, a hip and I've had a 4-level neck fusion. My most enjoyable exercise was riding my "Juiced" electric bike on the bike trails 3 days a week. Sadly, Juiced bikes went out of business and I couldn't lift my leg over the high bar so I needed a new step thru electric bike from a reputable company that was going to be in business for a long while. My research suggested Gazelle Bikes Eclipse C380+ as the ideal electric bike for my needs and Groove-E Bikes was listed as a local dealer. I contacted them about a test drive on the bike. They said they had no Gazelle Eclipse bikes in stock but they could order one and have it in a week. I gave them my VISA card number and got an email "Recipe for Gazelle Eclipse" showing my credit card had been charged $6,894.92 for the bike. A couple days later I dropped off a plastic container with a few of the items that were on my Juiced bike for them to install on the new bike such as a rear view mirror, a Peak Design iPhone holder, a Airtag to help prevent theft, and 2 new Tannus Armour inserts and Schrader tubes to help avoid a flat tire. It is a very difficult task to deal with a rear hub flat tire if you are 25 miles down the Santa Ana River bike trail. The goal is to avoid the flat tire in the first instance and I've enjoyed 6 years of riding my prior Juiced bike using the Tannus inserts without a single flat tire incident. A week later they called and said the bike was in and they were in the process of assembling the bike and would call me later that afternoon when it was ready to pick up. About 5pm I got a call indicating "I'm sorry we made a mistake" and a $400 rear wheel was damaged and we will reorder that part and have it in a few days. They expressed frustration that they were out of pocket $400 for this part that they ruined because of their negligence in assembling the new bike. They expressed reservations about installing the Tannus inserts in the rear tire. I lost confidence in their basic bike repair skills and I emailed them not to deal with the Tannus inserts in the rear tire because I didn't want them to damage the bike again. Fourteen days after I had paid for the bike it was assembled and ready to pick up. They had the final bill ready for me which included a new seat post and installation of a Connect Module. I paid an additional $389.62 at that time. Groove-E Bikes didn't like the way my 1UP bike rack worked with the new bike and suggested in the future that I cut off and remove about a third of the rear fender so it would work better. When I went on my first bike ride it seemed a little "off" so I took it to Fullerton Electric Bikes and their Bosh specialist determined that the magnet on the rear wheel was not situated properly and made the correction and reset the Bosh system so it was operational. They also installed the Tannus Armour insert on the rear wheel to prevent flats, the Schrader tubes so I could use my FOBO TPMS app to enable me to see the tire air pressure on my iPhone. They found an ideal mount for the Litelok X1 and the perfect concealed spot for the security Airtag. All things that Groove-E Bikes didn't seem to have the skill package to accomplish. They were also shocked that a bike shop would suggest removing a portion of the fender on a new $7,000 bike instead of making a simple adjustment to the bike rack so it worked effectively. The following day I got a call from Groove-E bikes. They weren't calling to see how my first ride went. The words I heard on the phone were "I'm sorry we made a mistake and you owe us an additional $164 for the bike!" Please understand none of this is normal. After spending more than $7,200 on a high-end electric bike it is not normal to need to go to a different bike store the next day to correct the mistakes made by the dealer selling the bike. It is not normal for a bike shop to call you the day after you pick up your bike demanding more money. Reply to Robert B's Response: Groove-E Bikes was supposed to provide and get a signature from the customer on an itemized invoice showing the parts & labor for all paid for accessories when I picked up my new electric bike. None was provided to me as required in California. I was told my final bill was $389.62 for the bike seat and control module and I paid for it with my credit card. Your negligence in not providing me with an itemized invoice or calculating it wrong is not my problem. A "lifetime ban on service" for an elderly 73 year old man who shelled out more than $7,200 for a new bike a couple weeks ago and demanding more money the day after picking up the bike is shameful. The very next day I paid more than $130 at Fullerton Electric bike to make the bike right for my needs as per my review and correct the items that weren't installed such as the Gazelle passing bell and correctly position the rear hub magnet so the bike functioned correctly and the bike was operational. read more

Our most recent purchase was a utility cargo bike that we now use to take our son to and from school. It's not a widely reviewed model, but that's actually one of the things we appreciated about working with Bob. He's clearly tested a wide range of e-bikes, including lesser-known brands, and knows how to match them to people's needs. When my wife decided to ride the new cargo bike home to get comfortable with it -- our son riding on the back -- Bob didn't just wave us off. I bought a E-Groove Ripper electric bicycle from these guys two months ago on July 2022, it's been great so far. It's got 750watts of power which I've only ever used on Shady Canyon trail. Their Aventon model would be fine for a commuter bike as most parts of central and northern Irvine are flat. The dealer's name was Shane, and he was kind and patient. The 200 mile tune-up is reasonably priced at $40 + $20 labor compared to other local bike shops at $50 ~$90, so no reason to go to other guys. I generally have no issue about this place, but the only thing was that couple of weeks after I bought my bike, a few new ones went on discounted sale. So, if I were to buy an e-bike here, I would should around the end of August when there could be a few much cheaper than their sticker price. read more

I would never do business with this place. It was a big mistake buying my bike there. I have tried since I bought my bike to get it serviced. The throttle has not worked correctly since I bought it. First I was told to send bob an email. I did that with no response. Then I was told to call. I did that and received no call back. I have been to the shop several times but Bob keeps telling me to come back and while I was in the shop he went off on politics dropping the FBomb. I really don't think this was appropriate at all. I never go around espousing my political views to people I do not know. As a follow up to my review. I received a call from Bob at Groove E-Bikes. He informed me that my Throttle was do to be delivered in the next couple days. He told me he would call me when it arrived to schedule an appointment to have fixed. As he told me he called 4 days later no let me know my part was in. I called him back and he asked me to bring it in. I brought it into the shop. Bob was very personable and friendly. He took my bike right in. I left to go home. He called me back in about 1 hour and said my bike was ready. He also gave my bike a full tune up. I was extremely pleased and satisfied. For that reason I am changing my rating. I believe that Bob went above and beyond to make it right. Thank you Bob. read more

We discovered had a flat rear tire on our ebike after parked in the garage several months. Didn't realize bike shop was no longer in Woodbridge Center but had moved to Newport Beach. I called on a Saturday and same day was able to bring my bike in for servicing and they turned it around within a half hour while my two year old played in the courtyard. Pricing was more than fair. The owner pushes you into buying a certain type of ebike (whatever is currently in stock), tells you that you can return it if you don't like it, then charges you a ridiculous restocking fee to get a refund. We made it very clear that we lived in a hilly area of OC and had concerns that a beach cruiser style bike wouldn't work. He brushed off our concerns, saying that it would be fine, but to let him know if it didn't work out. When we tried to take him at his word (3 days later), he acted like he didn't even know us. All in all, we spent over $5000 for both bikes and another $300 to get a refund. read more

***BEWARE OF THIS CARELESS BICYCLE REPAIR SHOP Unfortunately due to my repeated terrible experience dealing with Bob at this bike repair shop, I don't have a choice than to share my experience with others so that hopefully they would not have to go through mine. With that said; I took my 4" fat tire bike to this location and after less than a week the same tire flattened again during a long and exhausting ride. After calling the place several times and leaving msgs, no one cared to return my calls or concerns, so I took my bike back and was faced with a mad Bob who told me they were extremely busy and it would take them a few days to do the repair. After 10 days of not hearing from anyone, I called the shop and spoke with Bob who told me to come by and pick up the bike that afternoon. Meanwhile he's been charging me $37.50 for each repairs. When I showed up, he showed me a debris attached to a scotch tape telling me that was the cause of my second flat and warned me not to collect debris while biking on an asphalt trail!! It only took another few days before the same tire was flat again. I was very shocked and baffled. This time I took my bike to another repair shop in Santa Ana. The gentleman there was very helpful and transparent. After opening my tire, he showed me the tube installed by Bob at GrooveE Bikes which was not appropriate for my 4 inch flat tires. In fact, it was the smaller tube that was the cause of all these flat episodes. Bob's greed and carelessness could have caused severe bodily injury or possible death. I hope no one else has to go through the same terrible experience that I have and the owners of this shop look into this matter more seriously so that they don't jeopardize anyone else's health while people are trying to have fun out there! read more

We had finally decided on the Aventon Adventure e-bike after test riding the new Rad 6 down in San Diego. We bought the two bike sitting out front that were prefect with one being the SM frame and the other the LG frame. Yes the Aventon bikes come in sizes. Anyway Bob and Shane were really great in assisting us and now the pushy type sales men you sometime get. We bought both bikes and took home but then after we got home I realized that at age of 73, I probably should had bought the step through. The next day I called Shane and explained that I think I made a mistake and he said no problem just bring the bike back and they would credit me back, less the processing fee which amounted to less than $100.
