#rude and dismissive don't bother I've ordered from this restaurant several times and have never paid over $58 for two people, but the price wasn't even the main issue. The cashier on duty was extremely rude--speaking under her breath, talking through her teeth, and treating both me and my friend with disrespect. When I asked about the bill, she suddenly added more charges and then dismissed me by saying, "Sir, that's the cost." The service wasn't bad at all just the food is kind of horrible. Steak is drier than a desert and didn't taste that good at all. It was very chewy and chicken is dry as well. I will suggest that meat shouldn't stay out for hours and losing the tenderness under the heating lamp. If the meat gets old, put new and replace the old. The open sign was on but when I walked in the employees were pretending like they were closed. When I asked if they were open they reluctantly went in the back to help me get my order. Super weird! He has repeatedly mistreated underage employees, including my own daughter, who is just 15. These young workers are scheduled illegally, left to run the restaurant alone, and spoken to with zero respect. It's one thing to be unprofessional -- it's another to withhold pay from a minor and argue with that minor's mother publicly from the business's Facebook page. Completely unacceptable. Instead of resolving the issue privately or correcting the mistake, this man chose to be defensive, disrespectful, and engage in petty arguments using a company account. My husband and I ate at this establishment on 12/30 and as we sat there 5 workers that came in to work, but neither of them washed their hands before fixing customers food. Yes, they used gloves but they should've washed their hands before doing anything. One of the employees came in holding his keys and rubbing his nose. At the point we were both ready to leave. First time at Javi p and will not return. Had steak nachos and he had steak quesadilla. Both dishes had really tough meat that was almost impossible to chew. I typically don't have an issue with this restaurant. I normally enjoy the food and the environment. However, recently I found out that I am not able to eat gluten. I went in and asked the young guy if the food I was ordering was gluten free. He looked at me blankly and said "huh?" I repeated myself louder and he stared at me and shrugged and said "I don't know" and looked away from me. I had no idea what to do or say because I did not want to make a big deal about it so I just ordered and went on frustrated to say there least. I would have appreciated an "oh let me check" or something along those lines. For those who like Chipotle, this is a great option for bowls or burritos with fresh Mexican ingredients. The service I have receives there has always been great. While our food was delicious, the girl at the register was so rude that it caused me to only give a 3 rating. I placed my order and was going through the line so I could go sit down with my grandsons. My daughter was coming right behind me and ordered a kids quesadilla and a kids bowl. The guy made her bowl and slid it over next to mine and said "Kids bowl steak". When the girl rang it up, she charged for an adult bowl. My daughter explained that it was a kids bowl. The employee looked at the guy who was back there at the time and asked, "is this a kids bowl?" He said, "I don't know; I didn't make it." So my daughter said, "Well, that's what I ordered." So the girl working sling the bowl down toward him and said, "That's going to have to be remade." At that time, my daughter said, "It's fine. I'll just pay the extra." I felt it was so rude and actually told my daughter she should have let them remake it. It's not the customer's fault if the worker puts more in the bowl than what it should be. Maybe they should get different size containers for the kids meals. I had a kids bowl as well and hers was the same size as mine. I will not go back there to be treated like that! Closest thing to authentic Mexican food you will find in these parts of the wood!! This place has a chipotle concept, but instead of the "Americanized" Mexican food you get authenticity!! They have a full bar, great customer service and delicious food!! They have a self serve salsa bar, the salsa is okay, nothing to rave about, but their burritos and burrito bowls are a delight!! I was born & raised in Monroe, LA and have always said that our community lacks a GOOD, Fresh Mexican (Tex-Mex) Restaurant. I lived in Houston, TX for 10 years but due to a chronic medical issue; I was "forced to return" home to Monroe in 2013. After being exposed to all different types of Mexican & Tex-Mex Food during my time away ... anything from the more sophisticated Mexican Cantina to the average Tex-Mex joint that pops up in a strip mall ... My desire for a Good Quality Mexican restaurant became even more palpable! .... Enter the opening of Javi P's in Monroe ... As one might imagine, my expectations were Sky-High as I tried it out for the 1st time, but Javi P's DID NOT disappoint! In fact; over 2 years later ~ I'd consider myself an "order-to-go" regular. One Note ... I'm a bit fastidious when it comes to REALLY Good Salsa ( sorry ~ I've had some of the VERY best )so for me: Their salsa just isn't that great; however, it's certainly not a deal breaker [hence my 5 Star Rating] And wait-a-HOT Minute! Because Javi P's CHIPS are THE FRESHEST in town!! As for my Main Order; I tend to be a creature of habit & always end up selecting the Tacos; Barbacoa or Carnitas, but I'd be satisfied with any of the other choices *and yes I've tried almost all of them I highly recommend this place not just for the food, but also for their friendly service, and especially the convenience of ordering fresh right at the counter! I really appreciate the fact that I can call my order in, therefore reducing my wait time when I'm on my lunch break. The staff is cool and the vibe is casual. A nice addition to the Monroe scene for late nite dining. The guacamole is my favorite and it's already a regular place for Hospital staff since it's practically next door to St. Francis Urgent Care. We paid $29.00 for our two taco salads & two glasses of tea, yes thirty bucks for two salads...then found there was no place to sit, so we asked the lady behind the cash register if we could sit at the bar, since they had several chairs upside down on it, but she said, "no" and moved on to the next customer. It's a "make your own Mexican food" place. Kinda like Poke (sushi in a bowl). So my friend took me there and was walking me thru it. I like it but they need some better server behind counter because they didn't smile and when I ask for this or that she looks like I'm asking too much. The food was alright if you know what you want. You can make your own burritos any way you want with any stuffings. And you can make your own quesadillas. I had a bowl but next time will get quesadillas and hopefully the lady behind counter is more cheerful and helpful. read more

Love this place! I'm not a meat eater so I can not comment on that but their portions are great for the price ! I love the quesadilla, tacos, burritos, salads, taco salads, and bowls! Everything tastes so fresh! I love the salsa bar and the cilantro ranch! You can eat here for the same price as a Taco Bell or even less in my case! Love the decorations and how clean it is!
