I got the rice bowl and it was quite soupy and cheesy. My dad got the regular taco and that tasted good.

La Fogata serves up some mighty fine Mexican food and drinks right in the heart of Dixie! [Oh, is…read moreit still okay for me to say "Dixie?"] I digress. But, to return to my initial point, the team at La Fogata certainly have perfected what it takes to assemble an authentic Mexican Restaurant. My mom and good friend Heather live near La Fogata and visit often. They are huge fans of the lunch portion of Shrimp Fajitas (oh, and I saw the shrimp; they are HUGE). I did manage to sneak a taste, and I concur that this is a super tasty dish. Other dishes I tried included: (1) the Queso Dip (was more Tex-Mex style), which was creamy and tasty; (2) the Chili Relleno, which was lightly battered, pan fried, and yummy; and, (3) the Chicken Soup, which was light yet super, duper flavorful. And, of course, there were the rice and beans, which were equally tasty! As for the staff, they are super friendly. I saw one other review from someone who complained about problems with the waitstaff, but I suspect they have sorted this problem out, as this was not my experience at all. Note that, besides an inside dining room, La Fogata has an outside deck that overlooks a lake. On our visit, we ate on the deck (I'm mean, come on, it's covid... I am not taking chances yet)... but I would recommend eating outside even during normal times, as it's quite peaceful and inviting. Bottom Line: You should check out La Fogata if you're in the area and are jonesing for some tasty Mexican

I love Mexican food. It is my favorite cuisine, hands down. Don Tomas is the best Mexican…read morerestaurant within a 50 mile radius. Trust me, I've tried them all. I've had good, bad, and I'll be in the bathroom for the next four hours, if anyone needs me. Don Tomas isn't good, it's AMAZING! The food is so authentic, that Donald Trump would have it deported. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. If you love Mexican food as much as me, do your stomach a service and eat at Don Tomas. Most Mexican restaurants have your food out almost as fast as you order it. Why? Because most of the time, it's already made and is just heated up for you. Not here. Don't get me wrong. They're pretty fast, too. But you can definitely tell that the food hasn't been sitting in the back, waiting for you to say, "Yeah, I'll have the number 16, because I don't know how to pronounce it." And ladies, if you like margaritas, they have two for one specials from 4-9. I think it's every Thursday, but I'm not positive. I'm not a woman and I can't pass for one. Maybe one day I'll try to get in on that special and hope they just think I'm an ugly woman and not ask. I'm not much of a drinker, but it sounds like a fun thing to try. I'll have to work on my female voice. Maybe throw on a sexy little number. Sorry, I'm going off topic here. The food is great. Go eat it, now! Or later. I'm sorry for yelling. By the way, I don't see their hours posted anywhere on Yelp, so I'll post them here: Hours: Sun: 11AM-9PM Mon: 11AM-9PM Tue: 11AM-9PM Wed: 11AM-9PM Thu: 11AM-9PM Fri: 11AM-9PM Sat: 11AM-9PM

I would rate this place as a mid level Mexican restaurant. It wasn't bad but not amazing either,…read morenothing just stood out to make it so great. The house salsa definitely needed some doctoring, but they had a little salsa bar with 2 other types of salsa, limes, onion & cilantro. All the ingredients to make it taste good. Chips were good. Cheese dip was hot for which I appreciated very much. The happy plate was decent. Food came fast. Server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant felt dirty, which is probably what messed me up the most, besides having to season up my food with salsa bar offerings to give it more flavor. So, try it for yourself if you want, not saying it was bad, I've definitely had worse, but there's better places.
