I would rate this place as a mid level Mexican restaurant. It wasn't bad but not amazing either, nothing just stood out to make it so great. The house salsa definitely needed some doctoring, but they had a little salsa bar with 2 other types of salsa, limes, onion & cilantro. All the ingredients to make it taste good. Chips were good. Cheese dip was hot for which I appreciated very much. The happy plate was decent. Food came fast. Server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant felt dirty, which is probably what messed me up the most, besides having to season up my food with salsa bar offerings to give it more flavor. So, try it for yourself if you want, not saying it was bad, I've definitely had worse, but there's better places. read more

Really bad, and apart expensive, we were waiting more than 40 minutes for some tacos that they didn't even give them

Great food and prices. Happy hour prices are very good, just make sure to get there in time... they could make sure the TV's are on good sports in the bar area... And they could let you know that there is a salsa bar. but all is really good, will be back. read more

A somewhat hidden gem in town. Best mexican restaurant with friendly staff, quick service, and reliability!

BEWARE! They will charge you to use your credit/debit incorrectly. No where posted that there is a difference between credit and cash. I asked to speak with manager and he called the owner. They said that there was nothing they could do. I will be reporting them to the card brand associations. Service was great food ok. read more

Excellent authentic food. Always fresh and hot food. The staff is always Friendly. Great ambiance as well. Highly recommend the Margaritas

There food is always fresh and delicious. Service is great and staff is always pleasant and kind. My favorite place to eat.

We were visiting from out of town and decided Mexican food sounded good. Based on reviews, we gave Don Tomas a try. We were not disappointed! It was a busy Saturday night, so service wasn't super fast, but our server was hustling. He kept us stocked with drinks and chips until our food arrived. The chips and salsa were both very good. I ordered the pollo en crema, and it was fantastic! Maybe one of the best renditions of this dish I've ever had. It was saucy and lightly spicy and so very good! We'll come back again when we're in town. read more

We recently had a delicious lunch at Don Tomas. It's hidden away on a side street but there is plenty of parking and the food was reasonably priced and good. I enjoyed my taco salad with grilled chicken and my friends loved their veggie fajitas and enchilada plate. It's a solid choice for good Mexican food in Monroe with friendly service! read more

Food very much lacking..burned chicken..and stale chips. The manager is horrible. I can't believe this place is still open!

We will definitely be back! I'm not crazy about the flavor of the salsa. There's a seasoning in it that I'm not fond of. Other than that, the food, service, and atmosphere were fantastic! read more

Very Nice Gorditas en enchiladas! Food was delicious and different from other mex tex. They also have a salsa bar( no extra charge like other restaurants) read more

I've been here twice and the service and food are perfect. I get the Mexican flag enchiladas, but I love the beef with salsa verde the best. My husband loves the Mexican flag burrito or the California burrito. We shared a queso and a queso with chorizo (I forgot the name) and it was delicious. I prefer the queso by itself, but I love chorizo. * I wanted to add I don't like the salsa, but my husband loves it. I prefer more cilantro. read more

The food and margaritas were really good. Our waiter, Conner and the support staff, Ray were awesome.

Wonderful food and great service. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for great Mexican food.

Both the food and service were great! I'd definitely eat there again. They have a special small bar looking area with some self serve trimming such as diced onions, and a few different types of hot sauce. read more

Food is subpar..I wouldn't waste my time and money if I were you. The manager leaves much to be desired. Honesty very disappointed since I work near by and would frequent the place if it was good. read more

I'm glad that we heard about this place. Food and service were both great. If your looking for really good Mexican food this is the place.

We were concerned when we pulled up, an empty parking lot but that was because we arrived at 11:30. The ambiance was creative with Mexican history. The salsa delish with slight heat. The House Margarita on the rocks was perfection! And the food did not disappoint at all. The waitstaff, all kind. For dessert, my son said it was the best, so don't leave without ordering the Flan. read more

This is easily the best Mexican restaurant in Monroe / West Monroe area. Food was incredible and the service was wonderful! All the staff was so kind! Since I moved here, I've been searching for a place like this, and I've finally found it! My husband even rated the salsa (he's a salsa snob) a 4.5/5! This will absolutely be our first stop whenever we want Mexican food! read more

Food is good...my go-to are the fried fish tacos. I prefer my salsa more 'chunky'...Prices are better than some of our other local Tex-Mex restaurants. read more

Best Mexican food in Monroe. They have excellent chips and salsa and happy hour is great also. The fajitas are great at lunch or dinner. The friendly environment is a perk also. read more

The margarita was great but the food was just ok. Service was great. Food was just nothing special: flavor, how it was cooked, sauces... all ok enough but we likely won't go back unfortunately. Better options in town. read more

Been on the road for 12 hours and literally had my breakfast here. Super nice server named Conner who was super accommodating, and that goes for the entire restaurant! They let me bring my anti anxiety dog in and he sat in a booth with me. Conversation was nice, food was great and the atmosphere is just what I needed! If you live in town or like me and traveling and needed a quick bite...this is the spot! Bathrooms were clean and everyone was super nice! read more

I was a little worried walking in. Visiting from out of town and just wanted Mexican good. This food was fantastic. The Mexican flag burrito was my fave but we also had sielo nachos that were great. Great food, excellent service! Next time I'm in Monroe I know where I'll go eat. I recommend the molcajete

I actually really liked this restaurant, but there was a few problems with it. I thought the food was good and deserved a 4.7 or something around that and it was also clean. The only thing I thought was that the restaurant was moved more to older people because the tv had a lot of bad language. If you just get a spot away from the tv you won't have to worry though. I would rate this about a 4.7 read more

I'm a Texas native and let me tell you .... This is the absolute best TexMex I've found outside of Texas. Honestly it could hold its own even IN Texas! I've eaten here several times with hubby & friends and I've never been disappointed nor has anyone else dining with me. Bonus: the service is every bit as good as the food. Treat yourself to dinner here asap and as often as possible! read more

Screwed up the order and was a complete disaster trying to fix it. Doubt we will ever go back.

We haven't eaten here in a while. Stopped by for lunch today and just as I remember the food was so good. Waiter was prompt and food was fast. Will be back soon. read more

I love Mexican food. It is my favorite cuisine, hands down. Don Tomas is the best Mexican restaurant within a 50 mile radius. Trust me, I've tried them all. I've had good, bad, and I'll be in the bathroom for the next four hours, if anyone needs me. Don Tomas isn't good, it's AMAZING! The food is so authentic, that Donald Trump would have it deported. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. If you love Mexican food as much as me, do your stomach a service and eat at Don Tomas. Most Mexican restaurants have your food out almost as fast as you order it. Why? Because most of the time, it's already made and is just heated up for you. Not here. Don't get me wrong. They're pretty fast, too. But you can definitely tell that the food hasn't been sitting in the back, waiting for you to say, "Yeah, I'll have the number 16, because I don't know how to pronounce it." And ladies, if you like margaritas, they have two for one specials from 4-9. I think it's every Thursday, but I'm not positive. I'm not a woman and I can't pass for one. Maybe one day I'll try to get in on that special and hope they just think I'm an ugly woman and not ask. I'm not much of a drinker, but it sounds like a fun thing to try. I'll have to work on my female voice. Maybe throw on a sexy little number. Sorry, I'm going off topic here. The food is great. Go eat it, now! Or later. I'm sorry for yelling. By the way, I don't see their hours posted anywhere on Yelp, so I'll post them here: Hours: Sun: 11AM-9PM Mon: 11AM-9PM Tue: 11AM-9PM Wed: 11AM-9PM Thu: 11AM-9PM Fri: 11AM-9PM Sat: 11AM-9PM read more
