I was staying at the nearby DoubleTree and needed to satisfy my morning caffeine fix before driving up to Los Alamos. Of course I also have to adhere to my ABS (Anything But Starbucks) mantra. Enter Java Joes. Quick, friendly service and decent cappuccino to boot. Never tried the food so can't comment on it. Place itself is good sized and inviting. If you're in the area, make sure to give this place a try. If I have to stay in Santa Fe (usually stay much closer to the lab) I'll be sure to come back. Keep up the good work! read more

Coffee was pretty darn good-- and cheap. The espresso had good flavor but was too long to be called a real espresso. I was gonna get a small pastry but they were kinda expensive for what they were. Overall the coffee was a good value read more

Everything is great at this coffee shop. Their baked goods are excellent and of course the coffee is great. The atmosphere is what makes Java Joe's super special. It always is so inviting and always feels like you could either get work done or just chill and have a great time with friends. The music is always so great here too, and the baristas are always so kind. It is the go to for me as a teen and for many older adults. read more

Cute coffee shop and comfortable. Unfortunately, the coffee is awful. Full caveat, it was Labor Day morning - and it wasn't busy. Perhaps the coffee had been sitting around for a while when I ordered a cup (I always drink it black), but it just tasted awful. A burned bitterness with a soggy cardboard after taste. Very unfortunate and required significant amounts of cream and sugar to make it palatable. The currant scone was good - although I had the feeling it might have been from the day before due to the holiday. Overall, a really underwhelming experience. But it certainly could be a one-off experience considering Java Joe gets generally good reviews. read more

Have been going for many years and it is not ony the coffee and drinks that are great..but the care put into their preparation and the thoroughness of the staff and attention to detail. Tonight, Matthias went much further than we anticipated and made a perfectly lovely drink after we described what we were after! He NAILED it..and all with a smile and lots of charm. Got dragged in here by my boyfriend. I was sooooo hungry. Asked for. Breakfast burrito and they said first that they were out. I started choosing something else and they said they still had some. I said ooookay can I have one w/o green chile? They sAid no. They don't mAke them there. I groaned but bought it anyways. I've gone through their drive through 6 times in the past 2 months. 4 it of 6 times they've gotten my one drink order wrong. I get that it's a coffee shop but they sell Chai. One time I even spike about the wrong orders to the barista and asked that she make sure I get a soy Chai, I got a soy latte. If they have to only give a customer coffee they shouldn't sell Chai. A few times I've had my 2 year old with me and it is easier to go through the drive through. In spite of my politics Starbucks had never done my drinks wrong. read more

Java Joe's is a busy shop in the morning, when most of southern Santa Fe stops in for a cup. Good mix of student types, moms, and retired hippies. The coffee is good, but I was a bit disappointed that the breakfast burrito was pre-made and just nuked-to-order. Better than nothing, I suppose. Easy parking, plenty of power outlets, and fast wireless make it a perfect insta-office. Gotta step outside to use the phone though, it's small busy space is a bit loud. read more

I usually like this place, but there has been a change and not for the better. The staff is all smiles and helpful except for what i believe is a new manager. A very gruff fellow that barks at everyone in the morning and runs around chaotically but not really being that efficient. He does not seem to be happy about being there and has everyone on edge. In all of this bluster he forgets orders and over cooks breakfast burritos in the microwave because he forgot it, yelling at the staff that it is in the microwave, and then glaring at me and them as if it was our fault. The rest of staff seems apologetic for him and are very nice as usual trying to bring back the old vibe. I hope he does not ruin the place, and/or compel the nice staff to quit. I will not be back for awhile in hopes this all gets sorted in the mean time. read more

I've been there twice now. I've got a 22 mo old, so it was nice to have the drive thru for a quick pick up. I've tried their latte, black coffee, croissants, blueberry muffins, and green chili cheese burritos. Everything was excellent. Service was prompt and everything was fresh and hot. Has a really great community feel, and seeing how the parking lot is packed each time and the people are lounging there, it's a hit. The potatoes in the burritos were amazing... perfectly cooked red potatoes... just the best I've ever had. My husband finished one, and was sad I didn't get two for him. read more

In the age of big box stores and chain coffee shops everywhere , Java Joe's is a real local treasure. Both locations have great selections of Brews to choose from and the best barristas around. Plus they offer all the delicious noshes tpo go with, although my only complaint would be that they run out of croissants and donuts later in the day quite ppoften. But then so do most donut places in Santa Fe. I've met the owners and they are the finest kind of people, just genuinely good folks doing their best it feels good to give my money to. read more

Last stop before heading back home from a long weekend trip. We tried many coffee places on our long weekend and Java Joes is by far the best coffee in Santa Fe! Husband I both loved out drinks. I had a soy latte and my husband had a caramel macchiato. Its also nice and roomy, lots of seats so a nice place to take a break. I normally order four shots over ice with a couple pumps of simple syrup but lately I've been ordering their ice coffee which is super amazing! Nice, rich... bold over the top double brew coffee flavor, just the way I like it! The staff here at Java Joe's is fantastic... Knowledgable and very courteous! I used to be a frequent customer, but will never go to this place again. Not sure who the snotty, entitled guy working there is, but today we waited 20 minutes in the drive thru with only 2 cars in front of us. Meanwhile a dozen people walked out with coffees. (I would have gone in, but my toddler was asleep in the car.) When I asked why it took so long I got a snotty response. Instead of a simple, "sorry, it just got busy." He then proceeded to be extra snotty when taking my order...seriously?! For a local establishment that relies on it's reputation, you should teach your employees not to be such arrogant jerks. I think you're wasting your money paying this dude....he just lost you this customer and probably others. read more

They never screw up your order, you consistently get great drinks, they have enough people working to crank through the line if there is one, they are always friendly, and you can use some free wifi.
