Being tourists, my partner and me bought some of their signature spices, etc before we left. The shrimp was lukewarm unseasoned and burnt, and the pasta accompanying it was cold and lacked much flavor. We also ordered the Pozole duck after discussing the soup of the day with our server. That dish never came. When we asked about it, our server said she didn't hear us order it. Mistakes happen, and we understand that, but combined with the other issues, it added to an already disappointing experience. The biggest issue was the overall feeling throughout the meal. It was very apparent that the staff was ready for the night to be over. I really wanted to like 24 Carat, especially being a local restaurant in Erie, but unfortunately the food temperature, missed order, and overall service made this a disappointing visit. The table next to us, with the same server, asked for silverware, but the server never came back so they had to ask someone else. In addition when the runner brought out the food, his wording sounded like he was delivering the wrong food which created a miscommunication and he got miffed, lost his patience and left requiring the server to come back and sort it out. I order a latte and they burned the milk making it bitter and barely drinkable. I order the Protein Trio Omelette with a pancake instead of the toast. Which is an extra fee. The pancake was okay but I felt like the maple syrup was false advertising. The menu says its real Vermont maple syrup but it taste like regular diner syrup. My daughter felt confused and uncomfortable, and it led to a difficult conversation that I wasn't expecting to have during a family breakfast outing. I understand that businesses have policies regarding restroom access, and I respect that people have different views on this issue. However, as a father, I felt that the comfort and concerns of families with young children should also be considered. Regardless of where people stand on the topic, I believe all guests should feel comfortable and respected.
