We…read morewent at brunch time with family while visiting from out of town as we heard all about the beignets. We did get food as well, but my focus at least were all on the beignets! They did not disappoint! All of it was good - there were 4 adults and one toddler at our table ...which seemed a bit small for all of us plus the food, but we made it work. This place was packed and popular. They do have outside seating as well with umbrellas. Service was good even though it was extremely busy at the time we went. Being tourists, my partner and me bought some of their signature spices, etc before we left. When we're back in town visiting the grandkid and family, I'll request another visit so we can sample more of the menu....and more of the beignets of course.

Disappointing Experience at 24 Carat in Erie!!!…read more My daughter and I stopped into 24 Carat in Erie toward the end of the night, hoping to enjoy a nice dinner and a few shareable dishes. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of what we expected. We started with the kale Parmesan dip, which we were told was a hot skillet and that we should be careful. Unfortunately, it arrived lukewarm. We also ordered several shareable items, including the seared shrimp and prosciutto and Palisade peach dishes. The shrimp was lukewarm unseasoned and burnt, and the pasta accompanying it was cold and lacked much flavor. We also ordered the Pozole duck after discussing the soup of the day with our server. That dish never came. When we asked about it, our server said she didn't hear us order it. Mistakes happen, and we understand that, but combined with the other issues, it added to an already disappointing experience. The biggest issue was the overall feeling throughout the meal. It was very apparent that the staff was ready for the night to be over. I really wanted to like 24 Carat, especially being a local restaurant in Erie, but unfortunately the food temperature, missed order, and overall service made this a disappointing visit. Hopefully this was just an off night, because there is clearly potential for this to be a great local spot. $100 disappointment!!!!

The table next to us, with the same server, asked for silverware, but the server never came back so they had to ask someone else. The server spent a lot of time up at the bar hanging out with the other employees and wasn't particularly friendly with the patrons. In addition when the runner brought out the food, his wording sounded like he was delivering the wrong food which created a miscommunication and he got miffed, lost his patience and left requiring the server to come back and sort it out. It ended up that everything was fine but didn't really appreciate the attitude when trying to understand what he was saying. I order a latte and they burned the milk making it bitter and barely drinkable. I order the Protein Trio Omelette with a pancake instead of the toast. Which is an extra fee. The omelette was good and not over cooked like many restaurants do. The proportions were huge, so much so that I had a whole meal for leftovers. The omelette came with a nice pile of hashbrowns. The pancake was okay but I felt like the maple syrup was false advertising. The menu says its real Vermont maple syrup but it taste like regular diner syrup. Overall it wasn't bad and I would go back, although it's a bit pricey and the staff isn't all that friendly.
