Every couple of weeks I swing by the Java Hut drive-thru in Napa. The line moves fast, the women greet you with warm eye contact and friendly energy. When I hand them the cash they often say, 'I'll be right back with your change,' pausing at the window with an open, expectant look. I'm not really someone who tips at a drive-thru where I'm just grabbing my order and driving off, but that quiet lingering pause always leaves a little space for me to say 'keep it.' I live on the other side of town so when I am on this side of town I love to enjoy a mochachinni. I just can't stand these young girls and the attitude they give off. The ladies that work here are always nice and respectful with smiles on their face! Stumbled upon this little coffee hut while driving through Napa and I wasn't disappointed. I was looking for some coffee and wanted to go through a drive thru. I hate Starbucks and I was getting tired of Dutch bros so I was on Yelp looking for places when I drove past this one lol. I stopped by and it was a cute little shack on the side of the road where there was friendly staff awaiting to take my order. I order two drinks and a maple donut (not pictured). Both drinks were really good! The donut wasn't the best and tasted a little dry but that's okay because I was originally there for the coffee! I DEFINITELY WON'T BE COMING BACK!! I've been coming here a few years now to avoid Starbucks & obviously to support local small businesses, but today was the last straw. Today I ordered an iced pumpkin spice latte and as soon as I got to work, I took a couple sips. I tasted what I thought was bits of coffee grounds. No, it was bugs!!! BUGS!!!! In my $7 drink! I left work immediately to take it back and ask for a refund. The girl at the window (young girl with blonde hair and piercings) did not act concerned about it at all. "I said hi! I'd like a refund. This drink has bugs in it." She didn't even look inside to inspect. She just said "oh ok!" (Gets the money) and said, "Sorry bout that. Have a good day." No compensation, no offer to fix it. (I wouldn't have gotten another drink anyways, but AT LEAST A PASTRY or something. Avoid this place unless you like spicy, crunchy, protein filled coffee. read more

Stopping by for a quick coffee and pastry before a long Napa to LA drive! Food: Delicious lavender vanilla latte that was actually not too sweet! That is actually my biggest issue with lavender lattes in general, them being too sweet. But this one wasn't and it had a good balance with vanilla where I could actually taste all the different things! I also got a butter croissant that actually ended up being huge! Lol at first glance it looked toasty and even had a good amount of flakiness at the thinner parts like the ending tips. However, at the middle, thicker part, it was not flaky and toasty anymore. The inside dough actually tasted and felt kind of raw. I will be going back for the latte! Service: Fast and friendly! The cashier is also the barista. Other: This is a cute little coffee drive thru station with ordering windows on both sides. There is no "inside" to it for ordering. You do everything directly from your car and drive away. It's great if all you care about is getting some quick coffee and getting on with your day. read more

Looks cool. Coffee is good sometimes others not at all. Was a Frequent customer wont be now. 7/11 is better, you have control over your coffee. Staff ranges from 15 year olds, to people who are tired of you before you even started. Very minimal professionalism. I only value these things because I'm held at a higher standard to survive working and to keep my own job. I can relate to the staff here but at the same time can't to the lack of care regarding service. I used to love this place and come here all the time to avoid starbucks. Coffee is okay depending on whos making it. Comes out different everytime. I will never be coming back because of what happened today. I was on my way to work getting coffee here and she took my phone for payment, and when giving if back to me she said she charged me extra for the last time because I drove off without paying. She told me this AFTER charging it to me. I never left without paying. If anything they should train the employees to take payment before handing off the coffee! ill be getting gas station coffee from now on for a better experience overall. I love love love Java Hut Vs. Corporate coffee. I come here for chinis and the white mocha... lately the staff they have there has been sub par.. also according to their website/google, they closed at 7...I got there the other night a little before 6 and the male standing in their stand was rude and was like we are closed... he pointed at the signed that says they are now closed at 6.... And it was almost 6 yet he was closed. You may want to have friendlier baristas and more consistency. Update your website and your google look up because like most people, we travel from across town just to get our fix! I will never stop going to java hut because their drinks are really good and blows Starbucks, peet's and Dutch brothers out of the water! Usually we really love Java Hut, but went yesterday and the young man who helped us, although friendly, was extremely slow. It took us about 25 min for our order, not counting the 20 min we had to wait for the car in front of us to get theirs, and when we got our chinis, not only were they 90% just chunks of ice, but no flavor whatsoever. Been coming here for years and will be returning of course, but very disappointed this time. Not sure if the worker was a new guy but just very bad quality this time. :( read more

Just went on 11/3/24 at 5:25pm, they close at 6pm. Pulled up open sign is still on and made eye contact with a blonde hair girl and waited 5 minutes until I start asking thru the closed sign I am ready to order. By this time I see she turned off the open sign. She opens the window and says she didn't see me (they also have cameras) I ask her if their closed and she says no, then she tells me they are closed so I tell her online shows they don't closed until 6pm and she proceeds to tell me they starting closing early today to be out by 6pm. I personally don't care if they closed early, it's the part where she saw me, made me wait over 5 minutes turned off the open sign and then pretended she didn't see me even thought we have made eye contact and they have cameras. I will not be returning to Java Hut, they need to train their high school kids to have customer service, had gone there since I was in high school and I had never had such a horrible experience. read more

Went here earlier today to get a strawberry banana smoothie, it was good to say the least. What wasn't good was the attitude the lady wearing a camo sweatshirt have me when I asked for a receipt? So weird it's 2024 and some how it's disrespectful for the customer to ask for a receipt? When she handed it to me it was obvious she took it personal because she glared at me with a nasty look on her face. When I drove off she couldn't even say "have a nice day" or a simple "take care". This review is long over due. Firstly I've lived in Napa for 18 years now & this place has been around for as long as I can remember. Hands down the best drinks but today was exceptionally phenomenal! This woman just made me a non-fat latte chini with Oat-milk & added cinnamon. This drink is FIREEEEE. I will always support this business. Also please be respectful of these people inside that tiny box & not smoke while in line or at the window! I really only go here to support small and local and I'd hate to go to Starbucks over this place but 90% of the time I get coffee here I'm treated like crap and leave feeling seriously abused by the staff. I used to love stopping by this cart but they have seriously raised their prices. Not only did I wait like 20 minutes to get my drink but the charged me $7.75 for a large chai chini which is basically a lower grade frap from Starbucks. For that price I could get two Starbucks venti cups. I used to love this little cart it is cute and the workers are nice but for those prices I would rather wait at Starbucks and drive the 2 miles out of the way to get a frap than pay almost $8 for a lower grade drink. Java Hut seems to be a West Coast chain (there's one in Petaluma, another in Encinitas, even one in Guam) Napa's local outpost is off the Silverado Trail. It's a drive thru of sorts, with an enormous menu of smoothies, coffees, Italian ices. It's no surprise that during Bottlerock they did a business, since they're a short walk from the Napa Expo. On the other hand, they tend to have steep prices. Some have claimed that Starbucks is cheaper(!) $3 is a deal for a sizable Italian ice. The service is OK- the cashier was curt&rather abrupt. I got the raspberry Italian ice- appropriate, since I had toured an artistic, trompe l'oeil take on a Venetian estate in Calistoga. The temperatures had hit the 90s; I was thirsty. The Italian raspberry ice was excellent. A real thirst quencher. Value for the price. On the other hand, Java Hut could use some improvements in service- and mainly, the driveway. The driveway is full of potholes&in poor shape. The Java Hut looks the worse for wear. It's OK. read more

All 4 different drinks we ordered came out just the way we like them. This spot is way better then any of the national chain shops. They are very tasty an the make your drink the same way every time. As you may now know from my past reviews, good service is really important to me. The employees at Java Hut are The Friendliest people you will ever meet! They actually seem happy that you pulled up to their window! It amazes me that one can get better treatment from a pull up window for a $4.25 purchase yet receive mediocre service from a "classy" restaurant. *Now their Chini's are delish- fan of their cookies and cream* Must Try! Saw this little mom & pop coffee spot and figured I'd give it a try. I went to Java hut maybe expecting too much? Staff is great super upbeat but don't really explain the menu if your a newbie. I ordered a medium size -16oz Chai Latte with 2 expresso add shots- total of $5.00 not bad but I figured they would be cheaper than a chain coffee place like Starbucks or Pete's. Also, my coffee has this distinct blueberry flavor, which is not what Chai should taste like but oh well it was worth a try. Makes me wish I would have just gone to Starbucks unfortunately. read more
