Love this place!!! The owner is amazing and so sweet and friendly, and also makes the best cup of coffee! The coffee beans themselves are high quality and so tasty, not bitter like other coffee shops. Plus, the place is decorated so nicely with plants everywhere..really such a vibe. During this crazy Covid time my wife and I have been looking for local businesses. I did a search for coffee and the Java Garden popped up. Its a new coffee spot and it did not disappoint. My wife got the Iced Late and I got the Iced Caramel Macchiato. We both enjoyed the drinks. My macchiato wasn't overly sweet and had a nice smooth coffee flavor. My wife said her Late was smooth and not to acidic or have a burnt flavor. I also picked up the Vanilla Bean scone and Honey Almond scone. This coffee is GOOD! My go-to is a vanilla iced latte. And they make one that is hard to beat. It's strong without being overwhelming. Phenomenal coffee- ordered their cold brew and was met with great service and it is clear they use unbelievably great beans. The owner told me they freshly roast in house and often. I live down the hill and my only regret of whole experience is I did not find this place sooner! I can't be more thrilled about this coffee shop. I live in the neighborhood and was happy when I heard it was coming. Whats even better is the coffee is THE BEST QUALITY you can find. Honestly, no creamer needed here, unless you prefer it. You can order fresh roasted coffee online and pick up in the store. The owners are delightful and the atmosphere of the shop is turning out to be quite lovely, a java garden for sure. This is such a cute shop run by a lovely woman. It's not only local, but the coffee beans are roasted by another local company, and its pastries are baked in a certified home kitchen! I love this place! Their drinks are really really good and the coffee is STRONG! The price is reasonable and is around the same as every where else but I think it's worth a lot more since the coffee isn't diluted or weak tasting. They have plenty of non caffeinated drinks and non coffee items as well! I'm excited because it's right around the corner from my house and Serra Mesa finally has our own little coffee gem! We just moved to San Diego's Serra Mesa area and decided to check out this coffee shop. The barista and co-owner, Alena, is incredibly friendly and down to earth. Rather than just take your order, have you pay, and then send you to wait in the corner of the shop, she asks for your order, and immediately starts preparing it and talks with you as she prepares your coffee. Only once she is done and hands you your drink does she ask for payment. I'm not sure why, but I find this so refreshing. During a time when a lot of us feel dehumanized by masks and social distancing, it's nice to encounter someone who make sure you feel seen and known. She cleans as she goes and has the shop set up perfectly for safe interaction with customers, so you feel comfortable and relaxed as you converse and wait for your drinks. As for the coffee itself, it's delicious! During my second visit, I noticed the freshly roasted beans for sale, and I brought home a bag of the Guatemala bean to try. It's perfect! Great notes of chocolate, perfect for an everyday cup. I don't like overly acidic or fruity coffee, and this bag was exactly what I prefer. Very smooth and easy to drink. Consider me a "new regular" here, what a local gem! read more
