Easy to order online, and they wait until you arrive to start your order so that way it's fresh. Coffee itself was good, nothing too out of the ordinary. The sandwich I had was good too. They have decent seating area as well.
Such a cute and cozy café! They offer homemade pastries made by a local baker, along with light bites, breakfast options, and of course -- coffee. I ordered an iced vanilla breve latte ($9) and a gingerbread latte ($8). Both were really good, though the breve felt a bit pricey. I also tried the cinnamon roll and the coffee cake muffin, both were absolutely delicious. The overall vibe is great -- very welcoming, kid- and pet-friendly, and perfect for a relaxed hangout. Definitely worth a visit!
Coffee: Honestly one of my favorite cafes in San Diego. Extremely unassuming, given its hole-in-the-wall location. David's Roasting is served here, and all their coffee is freshly brewed and delicious. Recommend the cafe au lait. Food: Egg & Cheese Croissant Panini was so good I actually went back the day after to get it again. Solid breakfast choice on the way to work. Service: Kari is the best! Goes out of her way to provide outstanding service. Also very friendly and gets to know regular customers by name (she remembered mine a week or so after only telling her once, despite the many regulars). Military discounts are honored. Parking: Small shared lot, but parking is always available. Vibe: Excellent place to chillax and/or study. Plant decor really lives us the garden part of the name, but very much a cozy cafe first. Outdoor patio is also available if you prefer.
What a cute cozy neighborhood cafe! I've passed by countless times but finally came to check it out. There are a few indoor tables and a cute outdoor patio with also a few tables. There was only one worker so we did a wait a bit to get our order taken but they were working so hard! I got an iced white chocolate mocha and my sister got an iced strawberry matcha. I enjoyed my white chocolate mocha as it was nicely sweet, strong and smooth. Prices were decent and service was nice and pretty quick. I would definitely come back!
A cute little neighborhood cafe! I got the seasonal strawberry matcha ($7.20 for 16oz) and I will say the matcha taste isn't too strong/the color isn't too green, it mostly tasted like strawberry. I would like to try their regular matcha latte or breakfast items next time! The one person working was diligent and friendly. A few tables to sit inside with an outdoor patio as well
I love this small business coffee shop. I recently returned and, for the first 6, their match latte. I usually have their terrific cortado. I had the match latte with and cranberry orange scone by "Live, Love, Laugh." The match latte was great. I had it hot with a warmed up scone. The matcha flavor was great. They use a quality, non sweetened ceremonial grade matcha. I had them add a touch of honey and make it with whole milk. The creaminess was just right, and the matcha was not bitter in any way. It's a well-balanced matcha latte. The scone was great, too. It offered that perfect density and flavor. It came with little bits of orange and dried cranberries, which were great. I can't wait to try the vanilla scone. You have to be impressed with a small family run business like this one. Everyone is always very friendly and very welcoming! They offer inside and outside seating, including a lovely patio.

Java Garden is a neighborhood gem. Located just up the hill from the new Snapdragon Stadium in Serra Mesa, this cozy coffee shop offers great drinks and pastries too. I stopped by and got a delicious matcha latte. Their matcha powder is delicious and does not come pre filled with sugar but they do offer to add their homemade syrup to sweeten if you'd like. I really enjoyed a tasty scone to go with my baked goods. They had a bunch of yummy treats to choose from- all locally made. Highly recommend supporting Java Garden. Besides all that, parking is easy, staff is super friendly and you'll have a pleasant visit!
Excellent honey cinnamon latte. Average price. Their regular coffees are a good value for sure. Their specialty drinks are more, but I'm totally good with that as long as it's good and this is good. Service was great. Greeted upon entering and very friendly. The ambience is nice. Couple tables inside and one outside. Plenty of parking. Quiet residential street. I'll make this a regular stop on my morning walks for coffee. They also have a loyalty program which is always nice. Just punch in your phone number.
Horrible customer service!! I went 10 minutes before closing to get a drink and a pastry. The Brista with "green hair" full filled my order and my drink was 1/3 full. I asked if she could fill a little more and she said "no, the drink is pre-measured". I didn't have time to argue with her, but I know she didn't want service me since she wanted to close. The latte was horrible, but the scone was good. Small coffee spot for the area and ambiance inside was overcrowded with "things".
Friendly service and cozy seating! I really liked their outdoor deck. The Irish cream was better than Dutch bros!

A hidden gem in San Diego. Java Garden is an immaculate, quaint coffee shop. There is indoor seating and a quiet patio to hangout/study/and get some work done. Service: The staff is always happy to help you, quick to service, and you can really tell they care about their customers which to me is the reward for supporting small business. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get some good coffee served up in a no-hassle and friendly environment! Drinks: The drinks are rich, flavorful, and perfectly roasted. There is a variety of drinks they offer such as cold brews, lattes, smoothies, and teas. I have had the pleasure of meeting Alena and her son about a year ago today and to my surprise she is still up and running. This little quaint coffee place is beautiful and adorable. The coffee is roasted by them(family owned business). She suggested i try a pumpkin spice latte and boy was i shocked!!! It was sooo goood!!! I mean way better than that brand stuff. I appreciate small businesses like this. So come and help our community and try some coffee or smoothies from Java Garden. read more

This place is super good with good vibes the minute I walked in I was greeted with a smile. The coffee taste incredible I got an english toffee iced coffee and it was spot on! I started chatting a bit with the lady who rang me up and she was super nice to me even gave me a free espresso shot when I told her I love my coffee nice and strong! I have stopped by many times now, and Java Garden has consistently made me happy! Their location is such a gem, and just above the hill from Qualcomm (or whatever they are changing it to now). There is ample parking and a handicap spot right out front. The inside is so beautiful and they have a painted wall of vines and flowers. My favorite is an oat milk caramel macchiato and the kids love the hot cocoa. read more

This review is being written for Java Garden a small family owned coffee shop located in Mission Valley. It appears this cafe has been open for about a year now. Immediately from driving into the parking lot it is clear they are trying to drive business into the shop with a large coffee banner out front. The shop itself as you can see below is well decorated with cute decor and offers locally roasted coffee for sale as well as related apparel. From entering the shop I was greeted by a barista who was very kind and welcoming. She appeared to knowledgeable about the shop and I suspect one of the owners. I ordered a cortado which I asked to be sweetened slightly with vanilla to balance out the flavors. The roast itself was tasty and paired well with the vanilla. The wait time was not long and the indoor seating was comfortable. Overall between the delicious coffee, the great service and covenient location I will be back for more. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quality drink at an affordable price. read more

Drinks: One of my fav coffee spots! You can really taste the coffee roast in whichever drink you get. Adding a flavor shot does not make it too sweet and also does not overpower the drink. Service: The employees are so friendly. They're always ready to accommodate or answer any questions :) Vibes: Super cozy and welcoming! They really live up to their name and have plants everywhere, which is my dream. Alongside with indoor seating where you can work or relax, they have a massive outdoor patio seating. I love this coffee shop! Inside feels like you are in a garden which feels so nice, relaxing and peaceful. I got a vanilla latte with almond milk and it was so good! They make/roast their own coffee and it tastes so good! Definitely plan on buying a bag of coffee which they make fresh. They have sugar free syrups and milk alternatives like almond milk and oat milk which is so great. The treats are also so good! And the staff is so sweet and friendly read more

I've been looking for a good coffee shop and today I finally found one. The atmosphere as soon as you walk into this place is so welcoming and the woman working was very friendly. The coffee is great, best coffee I've ever had. I also tried a vanilla scone, I've never had a scone before so I was a bit nervous...one of the best baked goods I've ever had. First time trying out Java Garden when I was looking up new coffee shops to check out. Tucked in a small neighborhood plaza, the small cafe was really neat and cute. I enjoyed looking at the floral mural that covered one whole wall. The menu looked like it had a lot of coffee and non-caffeinated options as well as homemade baked goods! I got a medium iced caramel macchiato and a cranberry & orange scone recommended by the employee. The macchiato wasn't too sweet and didn't have a layer of caramel syrup at the bottom. Really enjoyed my drink and can't wait to try the scone. Shoutout to the employee who helped me out, she was super kind and best of luck on your landscaping outside the shop! read more
