Found this by accident when my usual coffee shop was closed unexpectedly, and glad I did! It's really cute - small, maybe 10 tables between the inside & back patio. This is great for me because it's quiet so I can work. They have free wifi for customers. The back patio is great - cute string lights, a comfortable long bench seat, good for working. Good size drink menu, the usual coffee shop options. I got a dirty Chai latte & asked for it spiced vs sweet, and they nailed it. I got almond milk, they have a few other dairy free options. Small food menu, bagel with cream cheese & a couple breakfast sandwiches, plus some cute pastries. I got the havarti & egg breakfast panini, it's on a croissant and really tasty. The service is sweet & helpful without being overbearing, feels very easy to just hang quietly & work without it feeling awkward when it's not busy. Will absolutely be coming back. read more

I have had the pleasure of meeting Alena and her son about a year ago today and to my surprise she is still up and running. This little quaint coffee place is beautiful and adorable. This place is super good with good vibes the minute I walked in I was greeted with a smile. The coffee taste incredible I got an english toffee iced coffee and it was spot on! I have stopped by many times now, and Java Garden has consistently made me happy! Their location is such a gem, and just above the hill from Qualcomm (or whatever they are changing it to now). There is ample parking and a handicap spot right out front. The inside is so beautiful and they have a painted wall of vines and flowers. This review is being written for Java Garden a small family owned coffee shop located in Mission Valley. It appears this cafe has been open for about a year now. Immediately from driving into the parking lot it is clear they are trying to drive business into the shop with a large coffee banner out front. The shop itself as you can see below is well decorated with cute decor and offers locally roasted coffee for sale as well as related apparel. From entering the shop I was greeted by a barista who was very kind and welcoming. She appeared to knowledgeable about the shop and I suspect one of the owners. I ordered a cortado which I asked to be sweetened slightly with vanilla to balance out the flavors. The roast itself was tasty and paired well with the vanilla. The wait time was not long and the indoor seating was comfortable. Overall between the delicious coffee, the great service and covenient location I will be back for more. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quality drink at an affordable price. read more

New with nice decor. The barista was really nice -- stars for that. There is plenty of parking for this small cafe. No gluten free pastries available when I visited. The pastries look tempting. Also, very organized at how each was neatly wrapped and placed in their display case. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the coffee. It just tastes too watered down for me -- hot or iced. I was riding my bike this morning while it was cool, completing several errands, enjoying this beautiful day. As it warmed up, I thought I could use a nice cold pick-me-up. I peddled to Java Garden and met the boss lady, Alena. Java Garden is an immaculate, quaint coffee shop, kinda off the beaten path. As we chatted, Alena explained that she opened just in time for the pandemic to close most businesses, but she appeared undeterred and optimistic. Alena is very personable and was constantly cleaning and sanitizing. Love it! Think of your best friend, that's also OCD, making you a perfect cup of java and that is Alena. I was glad to discover that Java Garden has a strong following of loyal locals as I'm now part of that group. I asked Alena for her recommendation... Somethings like a frap, but stronger and not as sweet. She described a bunch of ingredients to be used in my concoction that I forgot as soon as she finished her explanation. I came here on a whim and ordered a caramel latte with oat milk. I'm not a usual coffee drinker and I thought it was really good. My friends ordered a strawberry banana milkshake and a cinnamon latte. Overall we enjoyed drinks and loved the decor, but while we were waiting for our drinks, it was obvious the person in charge of the floor was blatantly mean and condescending to the other employee. My friends and I couldn't help but be uncomfortable with the way she interacted with her employee. It's a small place, so it's easy to accidentally overhear others' conversation. We would've liked to stay and enjoy the ambiance and cute decor, but it was extremely uncomfortable especially in front customers. First time trying out Java Garden when I was looking up new coffee shops to check out. Tucked in a small neighborhood plaza, the small cafe was really neat and cute. I enjoyed looking at the floral mural that covered one whole wall. The menu looked like it had a lot of coffee and non-caffeinated options as well as homemade baked goods! I got a medium iced caramel macchiato and a cranberry & orange scone recommended by the employee. The macchiato wasn't too sweet and didn't have a layer of caramel syrup at the bottom.
