Prompt service, good food, healthy protocols. I had a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel with a cream cheese cookie. I think the eggs could have been a bit better, but otherwise I really enjoyed all of it. The cream cheese cookies are awesome! I also would select a bread instead of a bagel next time, but the bagel was my choice so I wouldn't hold it against the place. Also my Apple maps app said they were open to 2AM. Holy HUMONGOUS frozen coffees! I FINALLY stopped into Java Cafe after passing it a billion times. I really just stopped in to try a coffee and ended up grabbing lunch too! The menu is extensive and its on a chalkboard... so it took me a while to take everything in. I ordered the turkey wrap. There's not really much you can do to make a turkey wrap amazing, I mean it is what it is. The one thing I really loved about my wrap which made it better than most was they cut the swiss cheese into cubes and put it inside allowing cheese to be in every bite! I love cheese and hate when you get a wrap and you have to bite one side for turkey and the other for cheese. So I loved that. Then I decided since it was hot outside to order a frozen vanilla coffee. It took a while to get, but when I did it was in the LARGEST Styrofoam cup I have ever seen. No way I would ever drink the entire thing, but it was good. For a wrap and coffee it was $14... I really only needed 1/2 a wrap and 1/4 of the coffee! I really want to go back and try their breakfast. They had every omelet you could imagine, french toast, and of course eggs and bacon! It all sounded really great so I will definitely have to stop back in for some breakfast! The place itself was really tiny and not much to it. They did offer a ton of outdoor seating which was nice. I ordered a hot turkey and bacon sandwich and a blended mocha around lunch time, and it was pretty busy. In spite of the business, the service was friendly, good, and relatively efficient. The sandwich I got was a good size and had great meat and great lettuce(I prefer shredded lettuce and they had that too) but $8 for a hot sandwich is pretty pricy, especially since that price didn't come with a side or a drink. The blended mocha was a little sweet, even for a mocha, but I am a wimp when it comes to coffee. That being said, it still had that "coffee" taste, so it really was a great fit for my taste. The establishment is a small place, so it was a little packed in, especially when it was busy like today. Don't come here for the coffee. Got a mocha and it was way weak, lukewarm and practically tasteless. Charbucks has better and theirs is always burnt. $4.50 for this is not ok. (I didn't have time to go back and complain or to have them remake or refund which I'm sure they would have had no issue with) Keep shopping if you're looking for coffee. Super cute place to grab a bite. Thanks to yelp I found this place. It is very friendly and totally seems like a local hangout. Lots of to-go orders, but also a meeting place with a couple chairs to sit outside. They serve breakfast all day but I got the 1/2 s/s combo with the "spa salad" which had strawberries and wonderfully light dressing on the side. Their sandwiches are made with boars head and HOMEMADE bread. The cranberry bread was delish. Loved they served tea in large cups and they stopped by to ask if I needed a refill. Diane keeps the place clean and stopped by to make sure I was happy. I told her this was my first time and she said I have to try their cookies. She gave me a sample of their cream cheese cookie which was just the bite of sweet I needed. She said come back to try their iced sugar cookie which is to "die for!" Ordered a roast beef sandwich ($8) two days ago and had it toasted on advice of staff. The sandwich tasted fantastic and was quite large - definitely one of the better sandwiches I've had all year. I think it was named the "Big VG" or "Big GV" or something similar. I also tried sides of tunafish and egg salad from other diners in my party. The egg salad (not usually a favored dish of mine) was quite good but the tunafish was absolutely awesome -- I could make a meal of that tunafish all by itself. We went back for breakfast today and the tunafish was already sold out (before 10am!) apparently from people ordering ahead for Thanksgiving. Breakfast is only served until 10:30am. I was told the grill/kitchen was too small to support both breakfast and lunch menus during the usual lunch rush. Of several breakfast dishes we sampled the real standout was the French Toast: kids and adults alike voted it the favorite. The drip coffee was good. There are a number of specialty coffees offered but we did not try any. On both visits we noted that the staff appeared to be familiar with a number of different patrons - obviously repeat customers which I always take to be a good sign. read more

In the past I would have recommended this restaurant highly. But two out of the last three times I have been here, they have been out of foods that I wanted to order. "Sorry we're out of roast beef today sir." "Sorry we're out of tuna today sir. My original order today included two salads with tuna and two iced teas. $25.24. After I discovered there was nothing else I could eat easily (strange diet) we adjusted to a BLT and the two teas. Ne total was $14.28. After getting home and doing some accounts balancing I saw that I got charged BOTH amounts. They're closed til Monday so I have to go the additional mile to dispute the charge and/or get a refund. I love this place! It's one of Germantown's neighborhood restaurant gems that draws a lot - and I mean A LOT - of people, mostly locals, for both breakfast and lunch. Waits are minimal because everyone works hard and fast, yet remains friendly. The food quality is first-rate and absolutely delicious. I never tire of eating here, often eating both breakfast and lunch during the week. I spend way too much of my money here. I know almost everyone that works here and they know me. When I walked in for lunch the other day, I was met by several rounds of, "Hi Michael!" from behind the counter. Even some of the customers joined in. I felt like Norm on the TV show "Cheers". I was almost embarrassed, but it's cool to go where almost everyone knows your name. (Apologies to Kelsey Grammar for mangling his lyrics.) The portions they serve are unreal. I have a healthy appetite, but it's sometimes a struggle for me to eat a whole club sandwich. Yes, it's that big and priced incredibly low compared to the size and quality of the sandwich. All their sandwiches are portioned like that. Unbelievable. I wish they'd expand their menu a bit because I've eaten almost everything they offer. I'm trying to get them to sell their homemade casseroles and quiches by the slice, but no luck yet. Their coffee is delicious, especially the one labeled "Cowboy". Very smooth and balanced; the perfect breakfast blend. The food, as I said, is great, but it's really the staff that keeps me coming back. Always friendly. Talk about a hidden gem... This is probably the nest deli cafe I've been to in a long time. All the ingredients are fresh and they have a menu that is quite impressive. The breads all seem to be made fresh, the veggies and sides are all fresh. It's good for breakfast too with some amazing sandwiches and French toast. Even when your eating not so healthy stuff it's still cooked in a healthy way. To top it all off the staff is as friendly as can be and desserts are delightful. This place is such a 5 star, it's not even funny. As someone who has eaten at Brother Junipers about 25 times, I have to say Java Cafe is BETTER. Keep in mind I'm a very health conscious consumer, so the nod to Java Cafe for cleaner food that Junipers. However, even on taste, Java killed it. I had an omelette w/ ham and veggies as well as a salad w/ chicken/bacon/veggies/etc and a oatmeal chocolate peanut butter baked treat. All absolutely fantastic. Priced fair.
