Pistachio matcha

Found this coffee shop/ restaurant while visiting Memphis. It's big and bright with lots of seating. The food menu is expansive. I went with the breakfast burrito (comes with 1 meat but I added an extra) and omg it was so delicious especially paired with the gravy. Also had a iced matcha latte with pistachio syrup which was tasty as well. Service was quick and friendly!

Oh my goodness! Yesssss. Support support support! Was greeted with a smiling face and someone who was happy to serve. We ordered two coffees and three breakfast items: breakfast burrito, breakfast bowel, and honey butta chicken sandwich (so tender and juicy and was my favorite) Everything was delicious and the baristas were super helpful and kind!

Cozy fabulous little place that serves breakfast and lunch... love the breakfast sandwiches.. bagels and croissants are extremely fresh and delicious... the oatmeal was warm and definitely hit the spot on this cold morning.. love the vibe here...

Almond lavender latte

Ordered almond lavender latte which was delicious, but would have preferred the option to have it in a mug since I chose the dining in option. In any case, For a late breakfast I orders the breakfast plate (scrambled eggs, grits, chicken sausage, and a biscuit). Despite not being terribly busy and having a full 6 people standing around behind the counter, the food took forever to get. By the time I finally asked for a status I noted my order on their screen had already been 26 min in the making. "It's coming" is what I was told. I love that you can choose how you want your scrambled eggs cooked. I chose loose and they were perfect. The grits were very dense, like dough, which I thought I wouldn't enjoy but they were absolutely delicious, and the biscuit was perfect, The only disappointment was the chicken sausage patty. It was like warm and could have used a few more seconds ion the grill. Overall the food was great, servers were sweet. Next time I'm in Memphis I'll stop in again and try their other offerings.. IF I'm not in a hurry.

Previous to today's interaction I truly loved this place. I love locally owned coffee shops. I had racked up almost 200 "points" eating here since they have opened and the food is really good. But today when I went in, the service really threw me off again this is about my 10th maybe more time eating here. I know the people who work here pretty okay and everything. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, over medium egg, now mind you it's not listed , anywhere I see, on the menu an over medium egg is an extra 2 dollars and some change. But after I left to clock into work and come back, after I had already paid, to pick up my breakfast sandwich, the lady who took my order called me over and said it will be an extra charge of 2 dollars and some change for an over medium egg because jay said so. I have gotten an over medium egg before and never had to pay 2 dollars and change after I had already paid for my sandwich and coffee. I truly was shocked. I paid for it but after I did it just didn't sit right with me so I won't be back. Unfortunately because again everyone here was truly so kind and the food is good. But this just left a bad taste in my mouth all together.

Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

Just a suggestion to the restaurant it's easier just to mark your prices up on the menu to account for the fee because patrons having to pay a fee and then tip is weird. Would definitely come back! The eggs in my eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly and they used a regular house-made biscuit that soaked up the egg yolks perfectly.
