I recently had an absolutely amazing haircut and colour with Pascal. It was my first time seeing Pascal, and I can 100% see why everyone has such great things to say! Melanie is a fantastic stylist who has transformed my hair from blonde to a more natural light brown with grey highlights. It is so much more appropriate for a mature face. She is always very responsive to any changes I ask for in colour or cut. read more

I have to agree with the other reviewers here - Jask is in fact a 5-star spa. I was hesitant to go here because it's in a strip mall, and it doesn't seem to be a day-retreat - although the cost of a pedicure with paraffin wax is the same ($70.00). The service was great - very friendly and professional. It's a hair salon for men and women, as well as a unisex mani-pedi place. We only had a pedicure with hot wax. What I loved: massaging chairs, and the offer of a neck warmer and a bowl of fruit salad while our feet were in the hot wax! That was a first!! One thing that surprised me was that there were only 4 pedicure chairs. Another thing is that they've been in business 13 years! Who knew? They are updating the reception area right now (should be done soon). Didn't take a picture. And you can buy gift cards for here. I would definitely return! What really sucks is being away from your home and realizing that you need something and have no idea where to get it. It's easier with some items (toothpaste, toothbrush) and harder for others (jar of Meso, shark fin). But if you're wrenched up and need a massage away from your usual spa or masseuse, it can be dodgy. After long deliberation and searching I did what most of us do. I went to the place that was closest. I found Jask and walked in not knowing what to expect. The spa is well appointed for hair care, manicure and pedicures, as well as massages. The lobby and main fixtures all seem feng shui-ed, water pouring and soothing music being piped in through speakers of unknown origin. I sat down in the waiting area, filled out my massage form, and noted that I was the only man in a gaggle of 20-something aged girls. I suddenly couldn't get the "One of these things is not like the others" song out of my head. My masseuse took me in, gave the requisite questions for the type of massage that was needed and made me feel as comfortable and safe as any massage I'd gotten at home. My fav. Expensive, but worth it. Been there many times for different treatments. Pedicures are the best. We've gone as a group, by myself. Always been very pleased with the service. I've been a faithful customer since they opened. I am well looked after here, always satisfied with the services I treat myself to. I particularly enjoy that the hair colour is ammonia free and leave my hair shiny and supple. The staff is extremely accommodating and professional. My "me" time here is always rejuvenating. Very bad experience with the owner, Bob. They used too much peroxide on my hair and burned the hair close to the scalp. I expect it will be a year before this hair repairs itself. It has been 2 months now and I do not see any difference in my hair. This situation was treated very poorly by the owner who accepted no responsibility for this. I had to argue to get a partial refund and not once did he apologize for this mistake. I would never recommend this salon. read more

I went to Jask because I was bought a Gift Certificate... Never heard of the place and had some misgivings, since I have been to spas in the past, like The Spa in the west end and had pretty poor service when I went, but I was pleasantly surprised with the service at this place. The front reception was great- they actually knew my name when I entered. I was offered water or tea when I arrived, and the wait time for my appointment was very short (that's a big deal to me, anyway). I had a pedicure, which was unlike anything I had ever experienced... Massage chairs, hand massages while my feet were being pampered and a neck massage... What more could a girl want? After the pedicure, I wasn't brought right to the front desk to pay...Oh my god, there was more?!?!? I was brought to a "waiting area" where I was shown the washroom, if I needed it and invited to dry under the nail dryer... to me this meant, leave when you are ready... Perfect Bliss... I stayed for an hour after my appointment was finished- and no body kicked me out! When I was ready to leave, the receptionist asked me how my service was, like it's normal to stay so long after you are done- I loved it! I am asking my husband for more treats like this, and to get them from Jask! read more

Passionate to the needs of your guests Jask Salon and Day SPA has been one of the better Salon's in the Ottawa Area for many years. They used to be passionate about the people they served and offered a quiet, rejuvenating atmosphere that was by far the best in the business. However, lately they have become lack lustre. They have lost all their best people and somehow have lost their customer commitment. Where I used to feel relaxed and spoiled;which is what you expect when you spend the money to visit a high end SPA, I now feel like an object on an assembly line. When you walk in the decor and receptionists make you feel like you are in a high end salon. But you soon realize it's just a facade. In the past year it has lost something. Something changed and I'm not sure what, but it's enough that I likely won't be going back. There are other high end day spas in the Ottawa area and Jask should realize that in this Economy it's a slippery slope to failure and becoming a has been. I've met the owner's who work in the Salon as Hair Stylist's and they don't seem to care what their customers think anymore. Success seems to have gone to their heads. The quality of service and "care" is lacking. They can't seem to keep good people, which is an indication that something is going on. They used to have water running in fountains and fresh flowers everywhere. On a given Saturday you might find yourself being offered a fresh Canolli while you are having a treatment. The water doesn't run anymore, the canolli's are non existant, the flowers are a scarcity and the owner is arrogant. I would think twice about naming this organization "The People's Choice" award in the future. read more

I wanted to share my experience with everyone to make sure they NEVER EVER go to Jask Salon and Day Spa. The service and the phone call I just received were the absolute worst hair experience I have had in my life. After asking them to do a "very subtle carmel ombre that was just on the tips", and instead they bleached my hair all the way up to my ears and my bangs. $130 lost. They were nice enough about having me come back, but when the second job they did also failed to meet my expectations (the dye washed completely out of my hair and the weird highlights they gave me around my face reappeared), I called asking for a refund. After 5 days of waiting to hear back, I decided to mentioning how I would call the Better Business Bureau if they did not take my complaint seriously. Well, they called me back this morning and I was told by the OWNER that he would get his lawyer and sue me for any damage I did to his company. read more

I went to Jask for eyebrow tweezing and the staff employee there who is the manager decided that it would be better to wax and by doing so, ripped my skin off. She asked me to put on polysporin and take aspirin for the pain which I did. The wound got worse and infected due to the company's negligence. Now I have cellulitis which is a horrible infection of the eyelid where my eyesight could be affected if it didn't get treated immediately. I sought the company for compensation in person but was dismissed by 3 different people. On top of that, they wouldn't even do the basic and pay for the antibiotic that I have to take for my condition CAUSED BY THEM. Please save yourself the hassle and trouble of going to such a horrible and negligent company. read more

Every visit has been wonderful, from the sincere greetings at the front desk to the very professional care that I've received for hair and aesthetics. Many upscale spas have an arrogant attitude that is quite unappealing There is absolutely none of this at Jask. The owner, also my hair stylist, has carefully developed and groomed a family of accomplished artists who work together in a happy and positive atmosphere. My various hair styles have been complimented by complete strangers no matter where I travel. I tell them all that they must come to Jask in Kanata and ask for Bob.
