Not only is the salon eco-friendly (LEED certified, excellent toxic-free products), but the staff are friendly, qualified and courteous. I always book my hair appointments with Allison as I have yet to find anyone else that can cut my hair as well as she can. They are a bit pricier than other salons (about $50-60 for a hair cut only) but the service and quality of work is unbeatable. The interior of the salon is always immaculate and is a calm, relaxing environment, unlike other salons that blare dance music so loud you are unable to speak to your stylist. My review of this place will have me raving so much that I feel the need to preface this by saying: I have been in no way, shape, or form, been paid or bribed to write this review. I've been going to Noir for just about four years now, and I have yet to have a bad experience. I've mentioned before how indecisive I can be, and everyone who works here and has had to take care of me has been super patient and understanding... I mean yes, hair grows back, but it takes a while, and sure purple hair may work for like Katy Perry but that doesn't mean it'll work for me! Sometimes you just need a gentle reminder. Anyways, most recently I have decided to embark on a blonde, errr I should say rose gold adventure. Laura has been my stylist for the last couple years, and she has really learned how to decipher my "hmm"s and "haaa"s. I knew that I wanted one of two things: blonde hair, or pink hair. She helped me dig deep to come up with the perfect solution: rose gold (ashy blonde with some pink tones). I have nothing to complain about, except maybe the part where they're washing your hair and brushing it? But that's not her/their fault, she was super gentle, that's just me being a big baby and hating that no matter who is doing it (seriously, even hated it when my parents did it for me as a child). I had so much trust in Laura that even after the long wait (highlights and toner and washing and so on) I decided I wouldn't look until we were 100% finished. It turned out great! My hair is pretty dark to begin with, so the fact that it ended up even softer after being lightened blew my mind. I forget what the product was called, I think Olaplex or something that sounds close to it? I recommend it as an add on, seriously saved my hair! I have my second appointment to get a bit lighter and rosier in the coming weeks, and I can't wait. The stylists really take the time to get to know their clients, and it makes a world of difference. They really take care of you, and that's why I can't see myself going anywhere else for my hair moving forward. I've also had really great facials and eyebrow work done, and try to treat myself to it whenever I can. Everything is just so great. Cost: I won't lie, it's not cheap, but when you have problem hair like I do, cheap just doesn't do the trick. I would say the price is comparable to most spas/salons in the area, but is well worth it due to the excellent service. I think I've gushed enough, but just to seal the deal... They're super eco friendly and "green". If ever I have someone ask me for a recommended salon or spa, Noir is the first and only place I mention! Can't wait to go back! read more

From calling in to make the apt, to getting there and them offering me a drink, or to take my coat, to the complete and utter comfort I feel while going to get waxed there. The kind friendly staff will always have me going back even though I live in Barrhaven and work in Kanata. This is a fabulous place for hair services and spa services. Conveniently located at Hunt Club and Riverside Drive. Lots of free parking. The Salon and Spa products are for the most part natural and chemical free which is a huge plus. The spa has a very tranquil and peaceful vibe and is a nice escape from the busy and sometimes hectic pace. The estheticians are very professional and friendly and do excellent work. A special mention of thanks to Jocelyn. It is my preferred spa for manicures, pedicures and great hot stone massages. If you're looking for hair services, Gordon is also top notch with hair colour application. I highly recommend Noir Salon and Spa. read more

This sp was nice and clean, and the estheticians doing the manicures were very nice. Unfortunately the quality of both my and my friends manicures was mediocre at best. They called 10 minutes before our appointment time and said they were running late and could we come 30 minutes after our scheduled time. This is fine, but offering a slight discount would have been nice. Also two of the four lights in my LED machine were burnt out, which wasn't noticed until midway through. None of the nails on that hand dried correctly. The only reason I gave this three and not one star is because the ladies were so friendly. read more

I was very unhappy with my experience, it was a treat for my birthday and the hairdresser called my name, pointed at the chair and push her products on me, I didn't want my hair to be washed because of hair loss and it had been washed that day already, she wouldn't listen to my request and burn my head didn't ask if the water was okay, the owner didnt reply to my calls or email at all. If the owner doesn't care, who does. I would not go back to that place again. read more

My friends and I booked an appointment for a manicure for the three of us. Now most places I've gone to for a manicure and I have been to a lot of different ones (both cheap and expensive) include a hand massage as part of the manicure, even if it is a simple one. At Noir Salon you have to pay 8 bucks extra to get a massage. We booked our appointment for 11:45am however around 11:30am, my friend called to let them know that we would be about 5 minutes late due to a delay in our train schedule (two of us were coming to Ottawa from Toronto) the receptionist got really snobby and told my friend that it was not possible and that if we didnt get there on time, our appointment would be cancelled. So my friends and I rushed from the train station, only to get to the spa and find out that the power was out in the whole mall and had been for the last 30 mins or so. At this point the staff looked at us with worried expressions (you would have thought the when we had called earlier to let them we were running late the receptionist would have been nicer!). Anyhow the power came back on about 5 mins later, and we went in to get our nails done. While we were getting our nails done, the lady doing my one of my friend's nails straight up told her that she didnt like doing mani/pedi's. She also rushed my friend into picking out her color, by telling her to "hurry up, others have to use this too!" Forgive me but it was my understanding that most nail salons have more than one color set. She also did a really poor job on applying the nailpolish as my friend's nailpolish as bubbles visible. The girl who did my other friendn's nails seemed to be a new girl as she was very nervous and her hands were shaking during the manicure. The other thing that struck me as weird was the fact that they told us that we could leave after about 15 minutes. There were no dryers where we could dry our nails, we had to do it the usually way (blowing air on our nails and waving our hands around). They also didnt bother check on us to make sure that our nails were well and truly dry when we left. I've been to other nail salons and paid a lot less than 35 bucks and gotten a much better manicure and service! Moreover the nailpolish they used were of not good quality as they started to chip the next day...and I hadnt even done anything strenuous to make them chip. Overall, I would never go back to this place! read more
