Amazing dinner with nice views next to canal. Front staff/ host very accommodating. Our waiter was very efficient but not friendly. Never smiled or even made conversation. We had an excellent meal, all our food was delicious.

This was a great restaurant that is part of a hotel. The decor was lovely. The service was great and our server was very polite. We definitely liked the appetizers and small plates a lot more than the main entrées. We ordered a plate of sourdough bread, the beef carpaccio, and the burrata. All tasted fantastic. The main meal was OK. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. My fish seem to someone cold. The risotto which I really wanted to like, tasted pretty bad. I'm glad I ordered a side of this mashed potatoes. I think this place is worth visiting and perhaps it depends on what you order. It is highly ranked among the restaurants in Amsterdam. I am willing to return.

Jansz is a restaurant located inside the Pulitzer Hotel (enter from inside the hotel). The ambiance was quiet but fine dining vibes. The menu was simple with variety, but not overly complicated. I opted for the venison with a glass of the orange wine. The waiter offered me a sample of the wine to make sure I liked it before pouring me a glass. The venison was great and plated beautifully, with tasty croutons and creamy mashed potatoes. The orange wine was tasty as well -- unique as I've never had it before -- though I'm not sure it would be my go-to wine. It did pair very nicely with the red meat. Overall, a very nice restaurant conveniently located inside a hotel (especially if you're staying at the hotel). Staff members were friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed the food. Not the cheapest meal, but not overly expensive either. Solid choice for dinner.

Fish of the day, Venison

We came here for dinner on our trip to Amsterdam and were interested in trying a more fine dining restaurant. Jansz is connected to the Pulitzer Hotel which also has a great courtyard/garden to check out if you come during the daytime. We made a reservation ahead of time and were quickly seated when we arrived. Our server was nice and gave some great recommendations off the menu. We started off sharing the crab toast which was fantastic and a good portion to share between 2 people. I got the fish of the day which was a grilled bass on top of grains with a cream sauce while my partner got the venison. We definitely preferred the fish which was tender and flaky and full of flavor. The venison was good as well but just not as good of a protein. Overall, a good meal - I wouldn't say it's amazing but everything tasted fresh and was a good experience for something a bit more modern than traditional Dutch food.

This place is solid. Nothing mind blowing, but nothing bad. Great service; good eats; a little pricey for the portions, but solid lunch spot. Instagram PUMP(kin) ... PA-PUMP IT UP!!! Inside the Pulitzer Hotel. No reservations but friends were staying at the hotel so we got in for dinner on a Saturday night at 7:00pm seated at the bar counter. Food is very good, a bit on the smaller "gourmet size" & a bit pricey for portions otherwise it would have been a 5 star review. Service is excellent. Our party of 4 had no complaints however.

I did my research and came across this restaurant with great reviews. I made reservations almost a month before my visit. You don't need to dress up for this place, but you don't want to look too casual either. It's a nice restaurant. Overall, the food was okay. The best thing was the tomato salad and the ravioli from the 4 dishes that we ordered. The burrata was something that we couldn't understand - it had peaches, popcorn, raw mini corn, regular corn, and tortilla chips. We thought it was missing some kind of sauce/dressing, and we did ask about it, but our server also agreed that other customers felt the same way about the dish. The eggplant dish was pretty good. I think we were expecting more from this experience, and it could just be that it didn't fit our taste. The service was amazing and the ambiance was really nice, with the dim lights and décor, it really fit the bill.

Outside Dining

Food was 5 stars. Outdoor seating next to the canals with decent weather was also very good. Service was really slow. Maybe it was due to inside dining being full, not sure. Our server was certainly polite and got our orders correct. Overall very pleasant experience and I'd do it again.

An excellent experience. A beautiful restaurant that is part of the Pulitzer. To start they had my whiskey! The service was attentive and responsive. The food was well presented and delicious. We worked our way through several small dishes for tastings and then really enjoyed the mains. I had the lobster that was thoughtfully prepared. The wine choices were excellent. Sadly, we could not get a second rez when we returned to Amsterdam at the end of our trip, but the front desk person walked us over to the sister restaurant and got us seated. Wonderful service.

Phenomenal ambiance, delicious food. I got the lobster roll and a rose. We sat outside in the garden and light music was playing inside. Service was super fast and friendly. Highly recommend!

I was very excited to eat here but was not blown away by anything other than the pleasant service, nice interior and pretty presentation. The octopus was served in a thin layer and was overly salty with an unpleasant amount of gelatinized fat around it and borderline chewy. The lamb was on the small side and honestly could have used another minute less being cooked. Again, quite a bit of salt noted. To end the meal, I got the peanut butter sundae, which I had very much been looking forward to since I saw pictures online. The best part was the ice cream but it was drowned out by too many other things, including a very very hard biscuit cookie (just a regular Maria cookie, as we call them in the states), which I didn't end up eating, nuts and mousse. The sundae would have been perfect if the star had been the ice cream, then garnished with the brown bits, and the meringue with caramel on top.

Sea breem with barley and seaweed foam. Delicious!

Just wish the menu was a little larger. But everything was delicious and the service was excellent.

Jansz restaurant is connected to the beautiful Pulitzer Hotel. It is a beautiful modern restaurant with a very nice menu. Three of us had the burger, chicken (cooked sous vide) and the cod filet. All were delicious and prepared to perfection. The burger was nice and medium and tasty. The chicken melted in your mouth and the cod was flaky and delicious. For dessert we share the peanut butter Sunday, the cake with real berries and yogurt and the carrot cake. All were excellent. The Jansz also has a wonderful Breakfast brunch buffet!. Service was impeccable and we were provided a short oral history of the restaurant. Very cool!

A peaceful lunch oasis on kings day 2022. Totally enjoyed the crab toast appetizer, and the starter champagne.

Inside the Pulitzer. Ambiance is nice. Took 70 minutes to deliver our order which was undercooked on two beef dishes. Not impressive.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

Located on the Rozengracht, it's super central and easy to get to from just about anywhere in the Jordaan or the Center. * The Atmosphere: It's dark, moody, and has a very cool "late-night" energy. Even if you aren't sure what it is from the street, the vibe inside is unmistakable. * The Food: If you like meat, this is your spot. The burgers are massive and juicy, and the ribs literally fall off the bone. * The Vibe: It's a bit louder and more energetic than a standard restaurant, making it perfect for a night out with a group or a casual date with great cocktails. It gets incredibly busy, so even though it feels like a "hidden" spot from the outside, you'll definitely want to book a table ahead of time. Overall: A total neighborhood win. Don't make the mistake of walking past it for as long as I did!

We entered and seated ourselves, and within 5 minutes, a staff person greeted us, brought us a flask of tap water (tastes great and clean) and two glasses, and gave us menus. We ordered a short rib sandwich for him and a chicken Caesar sandwich for me. These come à la carte but you can add sides if you want. I was glad we didn't because the portion was generous. One thing I've noticed here is that the bread is always high quality--our sandwiches came in baguettes about 8 inches long --I had to cut mine in half to eat it lol. Both were savory and flavorful and satisfying. The meat was tender and well seasoned. We savored every bite! They both had crispy bacon in them as well. Very filling! Just what we needed to energize us after our morning at Keukenhof!
