If I could leave less then one star I would. Please don't bring your dog here. I brought my dog for a normal grooming and once I picked her up she couldn't even open her eyes. I asked the front desk and they told me some shampoo had gotten in her eyes and in 24 hours she was going to be fine. Turns out my dog still couldn't open her eyes and spent the whole night crying. We took we to the vet where they found chemical burns in both eyes and ulcers. We tried talking with the owner and she was completely unresponsive. She tried to say it was our fault and that we could have done this at our house (when her own employees said it was them) Please please don't bring your dog here. read more

It has gone way downhill! I have been taking my dogs here for the last ten years, and sadly I don't know what has happened to this place, but it is a disaster. In the last six months every time I pick my pup up, he has a different haircut, even when I left four pictures of how I wanted him to look and explained it to them. The price has also varied on all 6 visits, and they never give me any explanation or update ahead of time about price changes. VERY CONCERNING. Last month, when I went to get him, they tried to send me home with the wrong dog, and when I explained to them that it was NOT my dog, the front desk employee asked me, "Are you sure?" My dog is always ready to rush out of there because every time they have him from 10 am to 4pm when they tell me he's ready he has an urgency to urinate the second he gets outside. I know they never gave him, or any of the dogs, any water or treats throughout the day or let them out to use the bathroom!!! I am very disappointed and will no longer be taking my dogs there after ten years! This is unacceptable, and the owner or manager must train the staff to be professional and respectful and speak ENGLISH when required! read more

I've been taking my dog here for at least 5 years. Sometimes it's been hit or miss. For example his schnauzer eyebrows come out clearly uneven, tail hair not cut, or not cutting based of what I requested I.E not pointy eyebrows, or really short beard. Overall, the staff was friendly and his overall body looked good. Once covid started, I bought clippers and have been giving my schnauzer a cut on my own. Follow YouTube videos and as long as your dog is well trained, it's super easy. He gets lots of compliments and I get asked where I get him groomed. I brought him back today for the first time after covid and am not happy with his cut at all. There was no schnauzer skirt left, his tail hairs are cut unevenly (if at all), his chest is choppy, his paws are uneven, and even worse, there's spots that were clearly missed on the neck. Furthermore, it seems they hired new people because the staff I saw last year was not here today. They were rude when I dropped off, rude on the call, rude when I picked up, and kept calling him a SHE. I've done a better job cutting his hair and I'm going to continue cutting his hair on my own. This was definitely not worth $75 and it's a $15 increase compared to how much I was paying previously. read more

I had the most wonderful experience at Janneth's. We are from California and Daca goes to a particular high end groomer in California that costs me $$$, more than I spend on myself !!! The reason: Daca had one bad experience with grooming that left him anxious so I like to send him to the same place. I was skeptical based on the reviews which I now feel are unwarranted, but he was looking so grungy. I took him to Janneth's which was close to where I am staying. Let me just say that this is THE BEST haircut, shampoo he has ever received. He was not anxious, which means he was treated with lots of love. The price was incredibly reasonable. I have used Janneth's for years. We now have two Springer pups who, thanks to COVID, are not terribly well socialized. They have to be crated apart from the other dogs and I worry about their behavior. They had their second grooming today and I can't get over how good they look! I worried that they would be difficult (and who knows, maybe they were) but when we picked them up, they had perfect Springer cuts, trimmed nails and they were remarkably calm. Having had Springers for more than thirty years, these are the best groomers I have ever used. read more

I took my dog for only BASIC upkeep (i.e., cutting the nails, cleaning the ears, and trimming hair around my dog's private areas). I tried to tell them that my dog did not need a regular haircut, and I explicitly told the front desk clerk and another employer not to touch my dog's eyelashes, the hair on her body, or the hair around her face. Again, the ONLY area I requested to be cut was my dog's private areas. When I tried to emphasize my instructions to the staff, they rushed me, and I felt like they blew off my request. One of the employees stated "ok, ok, ok ..." as I was trying to give my instructions as if that employee didn't want to listen or care to do a good job. They did take "notes," but something did not sit right with this initial customer service exchange. My gut was correct. When I picked up my dog, I saw not a single instruction I gave was followed. My dog was completely shaved (face, body, eyelashes - all the places I EXPLICITEDLY say not to touch). On top of the unfollowed instructions, the shave job was uneven; my dog has patches of shorter/longer hair. Additionally, my dog's ears were not cleaned adequately, and the ears were trimmed via a quick job with a razor, resulting in bald patches. The grooming service as a whole is the epitome of laziness. That "note" taken at my customer intake was also "changed" as I inquired why none of my instructions were followed; additionally, the customer service did not call to notify me of any potential changes to my initial instructions (instead, a unilateral decision was made to shave my dog without my knowledge or permission). Not a single employee could address why this failure to follow instruct occurred or took responsibility for this failure in overall service, and there were no immediate supervisors/upper management on site that could address the issues I described above. I asked to speak to the tech that serviced my dog as well as upper management; instead of addressing me directly, the employees on site quickly convened in a backroom and just uniformly agreed not to refund me. The amount I paid was $100 for these "services," and I was not given ANY refund. The experience as a whole was the following: rude, uncaring customer service and lazy, inadequate dog grooming. If you want good customer service that respects your wishes as a dog owner, this place is not for you. If you want your dog to be cut to basic grooming standards, this place is not for you. I will not be coming back to this location, and I do not recommend this location under ANY circumstance to any future customer (you have been warned ...) Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT Take your dog here for their grooming services. They lost my records so I had to resubmit, they called me after drop off to tell me they didn't know what my dog looked like and could I send them a photo, then when my dog came out after being groomed she had dirt on her paws a wound on her neck and matted fur on her neck. Also the fur on her head was cut way shorter than I asked for. When I asked for a manager I was told that Janneth would be given a message and call me back. Basically the front desk staff run everything themselves and they are doing a terrible job. When I pointed out the things that were bothering me I was met instantly with attitudes. What an amazing find--Otto's first grooming appointment was today, and he looks and smells wonderful. He had a Saturday morning appointment. I dropped him off at 8:30 am, and he was ready for pick-up by 11:15 am. He was super, happy when I picked him up with his Easter-themed bandanna. Plus the scenic drive was lovely, and there was plenty of parking. The cost was about the same as I've paid in Silver Spring/down-County, but Janneth's did a superior job! read more

So disappointed by Janneths. Had been a happy customer for years until most recent visit my golden retriever came home with a bleeding hind leg. I called right when I got home and was told no one was there to ask and they would call me the next day. I asked that the owner call me back. That didn't happen. I was contacted by a receptionist who told me that the groomers said they didn't notice an injury on my dog. I ended up having to take my dog to the vet as the cut he received turned into a staph infection down his hind leg. I sent pictures to janneths and never heard back from anyone. Had the owner called me and apologized, I probably would still be their customer. I didn't want them to pay my vet bill, just say they were sorry for hurting my dog. read more

I reached out to this grooming facility via email based on a recommendation and informed them I wanted my 50 pound dog groomed (nothing mini about her, full transparency). I was quoted, via email, a price range for the service. I dropped my dog off today and got called when they were finished and quoted a higher price over the phone. When I informed them of the email, both on the phone and in person, I was given various excuses as to why this higher price was given - the email may have been from a new employee who is unfamiliar with prices; the person who sent the email may have misinterpreted your email and sent the wrong price; you have a standard doodle, the range you received was for smaller doodles, and the range for your dog is higher (50 pounds is a standard doodle that was stated at the outset); your dog was challenging while we tried to dry her (this was a first and RED FLAG) so we charged more; the range given was actually a starting point and prices go up and down; we base prices on behavior the day of service so this is the new price; and prices are not negotiable so basically pay the higher price or not have your dog. While my dog was groomed, the poor customer service, rude and disrespectful employee who tried to infer I was stupid for believing a stated price range meant a starting point rather than a minimum and maximum which could be paid for the service, and misrepresentation leaves much to be desired. NEVER again will I use this groomer. They tried to infer the email with the price range may not have been from them even though it was in a string of emails with their company signature attached. No one was available to discuss the discrepancy in a respectful and customer oriented fashion. They were wrong to give me the incorrect price range and should have acknowledged that rather than try and give excuses for charging me more. Trying to support a small, local business during this difficult time proved to be a major mistake. Wish I could give no stars. Customer service is imperative during this time. This was my first experience taking my two dogs to this groomer. I had found them online and read glowing reviews. As I recently moved to the area, I made an appt and took them there Sat. I got there first thing in the am and noticed that most of the dogs they had were small toy breeds or Spanish Water Dogs. I have two dogs, a 90 pound pit mix and and 38 pound mix Italian Greyhound. I have taken both of these dogs to groomers and Vets and have NEVER had an incident with either dog when getting groomed or getting their nails clipped. I went and picked up my two dogs in mid afternoon after they called me and they said my 90 pound dog had no problems but the small female hound mix couldn't get her nails clipped because she fought back. Immediately, red alarms went off in my head as my hound Lexi is a very sweet and loving dog. She is very intuitive and a good judge of character. She has never fought with any vet or groomer nor has she ever had a problem with getting her nails clipped. I paid the full amount even though they didn't cut her nails, and when I took her home she was not the same dog. She was scared, shaking, and wouldn't even come near me even though she normally follows me around and is very loving and sweet. She would not play with my other dog all she has been doing is crying and looking sad and hiding in her kennel. She never normally goes in her kennel. She wouldn't come near me and cuddle and she kept putting her eyes down as if she was terrified. She shook non-stop. The spunk and personality is gone from my dog and I hope she doesn't have anything permanently wrong with her. She normally loves people and is very sweet and loving. She loves attention. I called the kennel and asked to speak to the owner or the office manager and I was not able to speak to them. I spent a half an hour on the phone with the receptionist asking what occurred with my dog that would cause her to act so terrified and sad and lethargic. They just said that she fought back and this is not like my dog. I asked question after question to understand their normal process with grooming and also asked if they had cameras there. (They don't - take this as a REDFLAG). I plan on taking her to the vet if she doesn't snap back to normal in the next few days. i was told they have a room where they let all the dogs roam, there is a lot of activity and they put a grooming collar on her neck and she might have gotten choked because of her trying to get away and flipping her body of the table. I feel so bad that I trusted my dogs to this place. They come across as High end and experienced but I have never gone to a vet or groomer that never provided me with an itemized receipt and didn't show me standard price list. They charged me for services that they did not perform than got mad when I called two days later to asked for a receipt. I think they were making up prices. This place is very irresponsible and I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKE THEIR DOGS TO THIS PLACE. OVERPRICED and IRRESPONSIBLE. THEY CHARGE YOU FOR SERVICES that they DON'T DO and worse of all they are negligent with the dogs and have no accountability, empathy, or compassion. My dog has been traumatized! I was referred to Janneth by my vet and some of my neighbors. She does an excellent job grooming my dog. I've never had a problem getting an appointment, even last minute sometimes. The staff is friendly and they are very kind to my dog. My dog's coat tends to mat easily and she doesn't charge extra for this...Petsmart and Petco do!! A groom usually take only a few hours and when I pick up my dog he always greets me in a great mood and with a cute little bandanna each time! I've got a Miniature Schnauzer and she only charges $50 and this includes a nail trim, ear cleaning and a good quality shampoo (I know because my dog has sensitive skin)....you will pay the same at Petsmart and Petco but they have all kinds of extra fees for extra services outside of a simple groom...like nail trims, ear cleaning and matted coat. Another bonus...she has different methods of drying to accommodate dogs with special needs...including crate dryers. read more

I love going to Janneth's. We have a 2 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and she knows how to groom a Cav which is a BIG deal. They don't require any trimming but have very long hair and get matted easily. Janneth does a great job with our dog -- nails are always great, he always smells so fantastic and seems very happy. My dog and I had a great experience today when I took him in for his haircut this morning. I came here on a recommendation from my neighbor who has his Shitzu groomed here. I am very happy over all. The staff at the reception desk was very friendly and professional. My dog who is normally anxious in These situations seemed fine going back for his services. The girl who took him back was very sweet and welcoming. When I picked him up later he looked just as I requested. I'm very pleased. The price was reasonable and the services were very good. He's usually foaming at the mouth, practically hyperventilating from stress, and hoarse from barking for hours. At Janneth's, it seemed like he wanted to stick around and chill with his new friends. Maybe they put feel-good sedatives in the bath water? Whatever it is, I hope they keep doing it! I will never take my dog to Janneth's again. My dog came back bleeding on the ends of both of his ears because they clipped them so close.

They groomed my doodles twice and did a nice job, even though I thought it was pricey. Then I decided to try boarding. When I made the reservation I told them I would pick up my dogs at 8am on Monday as there is no Sunday pick up. They told me it was $35 per night and said they would crate them together in a large crate. They asked if I wanted them bathed and I agreed. They called me the Friday before to confirm and I told them 8am on Monday. At 8am on Monday, my dogs were not ready. They gave me a story about one of them having an accident in his crate so he had to go for another bath. I waited a while and then asked if it was a sick poop because my dogs don't have accidents. Then they told me they were getting bathed because they don't have 8:00pick up that pick up starts at 8:30am. I have to be at work at 8:30am and expected them ready at 8am and they made me very late. In addition, those baths cost me $85 each and the receptionist had the nerve to tell me I should have asked about the cost when it was her duty to tell me as a new client. They refused a refund and went back to the story that my dog had diarrhea for three days. I do not trust these people with my dogs as they are very deceitful and clearly don't care about the dogs or their owners. If my dog was sick for 3 days, why would they not call me. While calling around to groomers in my area I contacted Janneth's Pet Grooming and they were able to take him that day. Upon speaking with the representative I immediately felt comfortable and dropped my poodle off a couple of hours later. I described how I wanted his cut and they delivered perfectly! I'm very picky about how my toy poodle is styled and I was extremely happy with the work performed and the affordable price. I have been going to Janneth's Pet Grooming for years never had a problem. My dog always smells great after going to them. I'm 30 minutes away and I don't mind because they have been great. I'm not writing this review because the do a bad job, I'm writing this because yesterday when I picked my Yorkie he was bleeding from his paw. When I asked what happened the receptionist said she was going to ask the groomer. The groomer said that the paw was infected and I should take him to the Vet. I said ok I understood that it could be something serious. I wasn't mad at them because I didn't know what had happened. I took my dog to the emergency room because it was late and there was no veterinary open. The Vet found that a nail had been broken and had to remove it. I called Janneth's Pet Grooming the next day and the receptionist said the head Groomer will call me back because she is also the owner. She called me back a few minutes later and when I answered she said "what do you want" It took me back a little bit but I brushed it off and started to tell her who I was and the name of my dog, Then she started to yell at me that my dog was the flea infested dog that was not been taking care of him and I should be taking better care of him, and all the time people like me bring dogs to her and then try to blame them for everything. I told her that she wasn't letting me speak, I got finally was able to tell her what the Vet had found but wasn't hearing it. She then decided to transfer me to another groomer, the one that I had spoken to the day before. The groomer insisted on the same thing, that the dog had an infection and when she started to wash the paw it started bleeding. She also said if I had been paying more attention to the dog I would have found out what was going on. I told her My wife had given a bath 5 days before and the dog was not limping or bleeding until I picked him up from them. She then proceeded to tell me that she was busy and she needed to get back to work. That they don't take responsibility for it. If they would have done it they would have taken him to the vet. I think that the should not be in business if this is how she treats a customer that is concerned. So if you think they do a great job take you dog to them but if something happens to him or her don't expect them to treat you with respect or take care of your dog. I have been using Janneth's Pet Grooming for over 11 years, until this recent incident. I got Janneth's name from a friend of mine. I have a large dog that is almost four years old. I took my dog in to get groomed as usual, except this time they hurt my dog. Two days after my dogs initial visit, she started scratching and biting herself. I found scabs all up and down her back. I took her to my vet and my vet said it could be from the heating element they use at the groomers to dry her; an allergic reaction to the soap or what appears to be brushing her fur way to hard. She has sores down her back that scabbed over from brushing too hard. My dog has very thick fur. I contacted Janneth and instead of an apology or reimbursement for the grooming, she gave me a lecture on her small business procedures and denials. She did pay for my vet visit, but I had to persuade her to do this. Not very good business relations. I gave Janneth's Pet Grooming a second chance by calling to make an appointment for my dog. I got a call back from her vet tech office manager cancelling the appointment stating my dog is just too large to handle and they will no longer service my dog. Really? Janneth's vet tech office manager gave me a lecture on her diagnosis of what the issue was with my dog. She basically called me a liar and my veterinarian. I would not be writing to file a complaint because I think Janneth is a nice lady and used to groom my dogs professionally. I am writing a complaint due to the way her vet tech office manager handled my phone call and making false diagnostics. Also Janneth cancelling due to false facts. I originally asked to speak to Janneth personally, but I got a call instead from her vet tech office manager. If you have a large dog or even a small dog, I would reconsider. After calling almost every place and begging people to groom Dexter my 4 months shih tzu/yorkie while I wait, and having not luck (only one place that would charge me extra $25 on top of their $80 service) I finally found Janneth Pet Grooming. Sarah the receptionist was very sweet and knowledgeable; she told me that they would be more than happy to do it while we waited and that they would do it the very same day we called. She informed me that b/c my dog was small it should be more than $50. At first I thought what kind of place is this that they are offering me all this convenience at such a affordable price. so we (my husband and i) decided to go and check it out. To our surprise the place is cozy and clean, they have a beautiful garden with fountains, very well kept and the people were nice and friendly, as soon as Dexter walk in they took him back and he never even look back at me he was so happy, that we couldn't believe our eyes. As we waited for our precious boy we saw many owners coming to pick up their dogs, all of them owners and dogs look happy, it was like a dog topia, they did such a wonderful job on Dexter that I couldn't believe my eyes, this place is definitely a place to bring your dogs, I highly recommended!! read more

My mini poodle was groomed with instructions to leave about one inch to two inches on his back. Janneth shaved his back to less than 1/4" leaving bits and"tracks" of white skin showing through. I complained of course but the damage was done. Two days later the shaved area on his shoulder with a three year old small sebaceous cyst erupted. Expensive vet bill and antiobiotics. Janneth was sent proof and wrote back that the grooming had NO connection to the damage and would not refund my grooming bill. Stay away. Irresponsible. read more

I've been taking our 85 lbs Labradoodle here for over a year. Enough parking for 4-5 vehicles, and I've never had an issue with parking. The front desk staff is very friendly, and they always make sure to get instructions on how I want him trimmed. The grooming is fantastic! Our guy tends to struggle when getting groomed, but they do excellent work. His "beard" and eyebrows always look great :) The hair on his ears are long and wavy (and probably tough to trim), but they do an excellent job where it looks like its layered. read more

This is a rave review... but I swear its all true! First it was late (9:30AM) when I called and asked if any chance they could fit her in today.... the young lady asked Janneth who said yes... I dropped her off half about 10:15AM and asked if she could be ready by 4:00PM. They called me at 3:30PM to say she was ready.... I doubt anyplace else would even try to give that kind of service. But it gets even better. Although my dog (goldendoodle) is small (34lbs) her hair was a real mess. To say she had some knots in her hair would be an understatement to say the least. She hadn't been groomed in many months and she looked horrible.... They asked me how I wanted her cut and I told them... somewhat expecting their answer to be what other groomers would have said "not possible, too many knots and needs to be shaved"...instead they simply made the notes of what I asked for. The whole time they had her I was expecting a call to tell me she needed to be shaved because of her condition... so many knots etc. No call ever came so when I got there to pick her up I didn't know what to expect, when I saw her I was so pleasantly surprised, they had actually cut her the way I asked... EXACTLY the way I wanted. Yes, this is a terrific review... but only because Janneth groomer deserves it. I don't know for sure if Janneth herself did the work, but I'm guessing she did because I believe only a business owner would put so much effort and care to do such a great job. Great professionalism, staff is friendly,and the prices are extremely reasonable compared to other places in the area. My dogs get a little play date every time they come in because they have an open floor for friendly dogs to play with each other and not be crated like most grooming facilities. Beware of this groomer. They have been grooming my dog for nearly a year. I decided to try an at home groomer and discovered that my dog has a huge phobia about grooming. I mistakenly believed the glowing reviews and didn't stay with my dog during the grooming. I have never been told by any of Janneth's staff that my dog had issues with grooming. They must have had to forcibly hold him down in order to groom him. The new groomer indicated that he had obviously been traumatized by a groomer. It's a pretty place and everyone is all smiles but I would encourage dog owners to ask to stick around and see how their dog reacts to the grooming. I wish I could prove that they used abusive techniques but since I can't I'll never return and tell everyone I know to stay far away from this place. read more
