I using Jankowski construction. we spent $80,000 remodeling our backyard including the concrete around our pool. The pool company gave very specific instructions for the coping being laid with a separation barrier to allow for movement. They did not do this and now we are spending $30,000 to fix the coping and all of the pool tiles that have fallen off of our pool we have tried to reach out to Jankowski numerous times and he refuses to call back and stand behind his work to fix the problem find another contractor that's back up his work!!! read more

After several attempts to get Joe Janikowski to stand behind his work I have no alternative than to warn perspective clients about our experience. We were having a new pool and deck put in our yard and needed all the concrete work done. I asked him for an estimate and once I received his written bid I decided to have him do the job. It was a large job and I wanted someone with experience. We were really happy during the process, and thought we had made the right decision. Everything changed though on the last day when I went to give him final payment and he informed me that he was adding an extra $2500.00 to our bill. I had spoken to him everyday of the project, made three payments on work as he went along and he NEVER mentioned any additional charges. I paid the extra because I was caught off guard. After thinking about it all night I decided to call him and let him know that I really felt that was not the right way to handle business. I told him he should have informed me of any additional charges throughout the process. I didn't expect the money back but business owner to business owner I wanted him to know that this was pretty unethical. He said "don't worry about the extra money, he just wants us to be happy". I told him I would like to split the difference with him instead of him refunding us all the extra money he charged me. I hung up and felt we had come to a decent compromise even though he should have told us of any additional charges as we progressed through the job. The next day I got a letter from him stating all the "extras" that he felt he had done and telling us we needed to justify any refund. We responded and let him know that everything he stated in his letter had been known from the very start of the job and should have been in the original bid and/or discussed at any of the many conversations we had throughout the process. He knew exactly what we wanted from the very beginning. Ultimately we kissed the money goodbye and decided to move on until we noticed all the problems with the concrete he laid down. There were several places that he didn't put enough color down and it is a completely different look than the rest of the concrete. Originally he told us that would go away but it just keeps getting worse. There were several areas where he didn't seal the concrete. There were even boot prints in the sealant as well as roller marks where you could see where they missed whole sections of sealant. The worst is around the pool, the color and seal is completely peeling off after less than a month. We contacted Joe by phone and email and he has not responded. He refuses to stand behind his work. We paid over $20,000.00 for this job and Joe can't even drop off the sealant (or give us the name that he used) that we paid for so we can correct the fixes ourselves. He has made so many promises and then not kept them. It is a real shame because this could have been handled so easily. The pictures below speak for themselves, so just beware before hiring Joe for any of your concrete needs. Anyone can make a mistake and I understand that, but if Joe is unwilling to correct his mistakes that speaks to the reputation of his business. If he stands behind his work at some point I will definitely update this review. read more

I can't speak highly enough about Joe Janikowski and his entire team at Janikowski Construction.  We recently hired them to tear out our crumbling 5,300 square foot asphalt driveway and pour in a brand new concrete drive as well as a side patio.  Out of all the contractors I have ever worked with on anything, Joe is the absolute gold standard!  When I can recommend someone, especially someone local, I like to do it enthusiastically. So, here are a few reasons why you want to work with Joe on your next concrete project: Joe has decades of experience working with concrete and really knows what he is doing!  We bid the job to several contractors, did a lot of research and asked a ton of questions before selecting Joe for the job and I can tell you that he is very thorough and doesn't take short cuts. He absolutely does the job the way it should be done and at very fair and reasonable prices. He has a great eye and will make your project look beautiful.  We have a really long driveway that splits in two about half way up and heads in different directions.  The way Joe and his team cut the joint lines in the driveway is absolutely beautiful.  It is a big aesthetic boost to our house and we couldn't be happier!   Joe and his team are very professional and really hard workers.  Joe works side by side with his team and they all just have a great, can do attitude.   Joe is a real team player.  We had certain portions of our project where the concrete work needed to be coordinated with another contractor who was simultaneously installing a new driveway gate for us.  Joe was beyond helpful to say the least.  He really was the VIP of the entire project and we can't thank him and his team enough for all the hard work they put in to pull this project off for us! I honestly can't say enough good things about Janikowski Construction. Joe and his crew are top-notch when it comes to thinking of everything that goes into a job. They are professional, punctual (and fast!) and went above and beyond for us in replacing our crumbling, squirrel-undermined asphalt driveway with beautiful new concrete. On top of being amazing at what they do and priced very competitively for the bids we received, the whole crew was so pleasant to work with. Joe went out of his way to make my 5 and 2 year old's year by letting them play in his bobcat, stamping some custom jeweled stepping stones (and letting them help!), and even letting my 5 year old help with smoothing some concrete when he walked out at 7am in his work boots with hat and shovel in-hand. I sheepishly apologized for my kids wanting to be watching/helping 24/7 and Joe told me "Are you kidding? I love it! When you have an opportunity to impart that much joy to someone, how can you not take it?" Just such a kind, generous person who is truly great at and loves what he does.
