Recently stopped by this location after a visit to SF MoMA and was immediately mesmerized by the pastries counter. Since I couldn't pick one... I bought three... the chocolate chip toffee cookie, the petit carrot cake and the cheddar chive biscuit. The cookie was both chewy and perfectly crispy. The carrot cake was to die for... just the right density and seasoning, moist and the frosting was not overly sweet with the right amount of cream cheese flavor. I also liked their variety of unique non-caffeinated lattes and drinks. I went with the beet latte which had maca in it. It was delicious! And pretty!

Salmon salad delicious down to the last bite. Terrific dressing on the bed of greens!

Located on the ground floor of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, this is a beautifully decorated cheerful café with delicious food, the perfect restorative after a full afternoon exploring the current shows. The salmon salad was so good!

Reishi Hot Cacao Latte w/cute latte art

I've been to the OG Jane the Bakery in the Richmond District, and enjoyed their Olive & Pistachio Twist. After a short visit to SFMOMA, I decided to check out the newest Jane outpost. Located inside SFMOMA, it's spacious compared to the aforementioned location. None of the pastries called to me, so I only ordered a drink. My order: Reishi Hot Cacao Latte ($6.75): Whole Milk +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Cute latte art w/a pretty blue paper cup featuring roses -It tasted like a watered down cup of unsweetened hot cocoa. Side notes: 1.) Self-serve condiments, napkins, utensils, and water cups 2.) There was plenty of bar and table seating, but I thought the wooden chairs and benches were uncomfortable. 3.) Restroom available for customers 4.) Limited and expensive parking: It's walking distance from multiple transit stations, so would recommend that. *Verdict: 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 d/t service. The cashier who helped me was patient and she answered questions I had about the menu. In addition, she was so friendly and upbeat, taking care of the long line of customers.

I love to meet with a friend for a lunch at Jane. The space is beautiful (located on the first floor of MoMA, spacious with two separate rooms). Just know that it gets busy during lunch: expect up to 10-15 minutes to order and another 10-15 minutes for your food to arrive. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the bakery items and dishes. I'd tried their bread and pastries before at their original location, and the variety here is just as good. My favorites: olive and pistachio pastry (savory, delicate, and flaky) and cherry galette (crunchy with a great balance of sourness and sweetness). They have a good variety of coffee/matcha drinks. Their bowls and soups are bowl and worth trying too - they are quite filling. Be aware that 12-2pm on weekdays is competitive for indoor seating but there's Yerba Buena park right next to it, so if the weather's nice, I'd just grab my pastry and coffee to go and enjoy it outside.

Very relaxing vibe with tasty food and drinks. We got: * Green juice -- 4/5 * Matcha latte -- 4.5/5 * Egg white dish -- 4/5 * Smoked salmon toast -- 4/5 Everything tasted fresh and well made, and the matcha latte was definitely the standout for us. Great spot to relax and enjoy a light meal or coffee break.

Grilled cheese??? More like cheese sandwich

Worst grilled cheese I've EVER had. I paid 8 bucks for this?? So not worth it. For that price i could have went to Safeway and bought the ingredients. But, lessons learned. Bread wasn't even toasted and it had just a teeny tiny bit of cheese. So I basically got warm bread with cheese. Needless to say i left disappointed after visiting the museum next door. Wont be coming back.

Brunchfast served all day long everyday for the win! Located inside the SFMoma this was a great place to have a meal after we finished checking out the KAWS exhibit. * My bf got the Epic Combo consisting of two eggs (scrambled), one slice french toast, sausage or bacon (sausage) and potatoes for $18. * I got the Spicy Baked Eggs with two eggs, spicy tomato and black bean stew, cheddar cheese, cilantro and toast for $16. * We also got coffee cake, KAWS ginger cookie, coffee and an orange San Pellegrino. They had some cute Jane the Bakery stickers that were free. No line when we went to place our order, given a number for our table and the food and drinks came out fast. The spicy baked eggs is a favorite of mine when I come to Jane. We were pleasantly surprised when my bfs dish came out because the French toast looked AMAZING and was so delicious!

Jane on Third is located on the first floor of SFMOMA, no museum ticket required, no reservations, walk-ins only. Due to the proximity to the Moscone Center, this Jane (there are multiple in the Bay Area) can get crowded with convention and conference participants. Seating options are generous, including two dining areas and a bar overlooking the kitchen. Baked goods are a delight, including a variety of cookies large enough to share. My favorite salads are the Niçoise and the roasted salmon. Salad serving sizes vary based on the preparer; generally, they are large enough to take some home. A luncheon with Jane is a great escape from the office, a mini vacay if you will, with lots of good (sometimes international) people watching available, given the often-diverse conventioneers. Browse the Museum Store on your way out for a few more minutes of distraction before heading back to complete the afternoon.

Wonderful service and space. Shoutout to manager Chris! I hosted a large group here last-minute and ran up a big tab during Super Bowl week, and they handled it with ease and grace. Great location in the MoMa, I feel like I remember going to the restaurant here when I was a kid. It's light and airy, easily accessible by bike or transit. Baked goods were delicious! They had I heart SF and football cookies for the Super Bowl. Matcha and lattes were delicious and creamy. Good quality. A friend liked their sandwich. Lots of seating in the back too. Free WiFi from the museum, no login needed. Will be back for sure!

This cafe is located inside the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. I can't believe I didn't notice that this was here during our last visit to MOMA. We were here to check out the KAWS family exhibit. We haven't ate all morning so we decided to check out Jane. You have to enter through the MOMA main entrance and go towards your right. There aren't any menus on the wall, but they did place the menu on a table right before you stand in line. The prices were reasonable. There is plenty of seating and you just seat yourself before (if you're with another person) or after you order. There were plenty of options on the menu. From avocado toasts, sandwiches, to all day breakfast. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and a KAWS gingerbread cookie (super cute!!!) and my man ordered the breakfast plate with French toast and s'mores tart. My breakfast burrito tasted really good, except it fell apart after my first bite. I had to eat the rest with a fork lol. My man's let me have a bite of his French toast and it was AMAZING! The gingerbread cookie was definitely one of the best I've ever tried and we loved s'more's tart. You can't just have 1 bite. The service was great. Staff were friendly and we didn't wait long for our food. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to grab a bite to eat. You don't need museum tickets to eat here either.

We found Jane on Third on a Sunday morning in June before a Giants afternoon game. It is actually inside/next to SFMOMA, but has a separate entrance. We were looking for coffee and breakfast of some kind and Jane delivered. It's a decent sized, casual place where you place your order at the counter and they bring it out to you. We tried the yogurt with berries, the peanut butter banana toast, and the egg and bacon croissant. And we shared some small pastries. Everything came out quickly and tasted good. No problem getting a place to sit. Service was friendly.

iced strawberry matcha
Sarah C.

the newest and most spacious Jane location in sf! it's located in sfmoma and has tons of seating as well as free wifi. I tried their special iced strawberry matcha ($8) and was disappointed as the matcha was weak and the strawberry puree was so tangy and not sweet. overall it was very milky. I usually love their lattes so I'll give this the benefit of doubt but they should stick to coffee :")

Blueberry Brioche, and they have a great display of freshly made pastries.
Paul P.

Happy that this was adjacent to our hotel and quite the busy spot for a Saturday morning. The dripped Coffee was delicious, they have quite the variety and make their own chai, enjoy it hot, cold or dirty. :) Food is fairly priced and certainly cheaper than hotel rates. Good hours and certainly well placed next to the SFMOMA. Inside was clean and cleaned up quickly to welcome guests. It can be good for groups if you arrive together. Seating for 1-2, 3-4, and larger tables. We would definitely visit again.

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

And the matcha ice cream barely tasted like matcha. There isn't much decor to speak of, it's a store front only and no interior. And the sign for "reasons we don't give samples" is funny but feels excessive. I still thoroughly enjoyed it though and will likely come again.

They have a few tables and bar seating at the front, with more bar seating along the back right leading to the clean restrooms. Even though it was afternoon, it was so much fun to order things with caffeine just for the sheer joy of it. We had the chocolate milk, I had a chocolate infused black tea, we shared a special new bar, and were given their signature tiny cookies.
