We have recently moved to a new house and one side of the house was colder. A James technician came and serviced our systems. $318 charge. He advised a vent evaluation and cleaning. Then vent men came, found no issues and cleaned vents. $1057 charge. I called Comfort Flow heating b/c of continued cold side. He adjusted damper, found gaping hole where vents were attached, collapsed duct and no filter!! Cold area finally repaired by Comfort Flow Heating. James Heating did not return my calls. I had an issue with our furnace this week. I contacted James Heating & Air Conditioning early in the morning. They said a technician would be out the same day. Tech was onsite by 12:15 pm. I even received a text and phone call advising of his arrival. He we efficient in his work and was able to identify the issue being a defective igniter, replace the defective igniter and get the furnace back up and running in less than 1 hour. His name was Santiago, and he did such a great job that I would be remiss not to share this experience with others. I had a horrible experience with PriorityOne, and working with James Heating & AC was a night-and-day experience in comparison. Our 30+year old A/C unit quit during the weekend hot spell and I called James Heating and Cooling for a service call on Monday morning. They were able to send a technician that day. The technician, Brandon arrived yesterday afternoon and was able to trouble shoot the system, diagnose and fix the problem and got my AC back in working order. I was impressed by the helpfulness of the staff getting the service call and very impressed that due to the age of my system Brandon didnt just tell me it was beyond help. He was very determined to fix the problem and worked hard to do it. He also provided guidance and advice for replacing the system. I called at 8 am on Monday morning and I was asked if I could be called back shortly. I gave my number expecting a phone call back in a while... but about one minute later, I got the return call. The scheduler was extremely nice and I was given a same-day 10:30 am appointment. Michael called me at 9:45 and said he could come earlier. He diagnosed the issue (blown capacitor) and had my unit running again in about 25 minutes. He was gone before my original 10:30 am appointment time!! Ridiculously good service. My 15 year old furnace died on me on the coldest day we had in November - and on a Sunday, no less. I called one place, and they wanted to charge me over $250 just to show up! Fortunately, I called James Heating before agreeing to that, who charged me substantially less despite the weekend. Unfortunately, it turned out I needed a new furnace entirely. Jake gave me the option to fix the parts that were busted, but explained that I would likely have more issues not too far down the line, so we opted to replace it. Of course, because 2020 was... well, that way, getting a new furnace proved to be difficult, by absolutely no fault of James Heating. I had someone communicating with me every step of the way, apologizing for mishaps that were out of their hands, and overall providing excellent customer service. James Heating and Air Conditioning has came out 3 seperate times to complete a job that they were paid for. Each time I have crawled under the house to confirm stuff was fixed. Each time I have found duct work not connected, ducting laying on the ground, incorrect duct work. This last go around they said it was all completed. I had premium efficient come and do a duct test. It failed miserably. The inspector crawled under the house and found more holes, improper ducting, ducting not insulated. I called Larry the manager James Heating and Air Conditioning to talk about once again an incomplete job. He told me he has came out 3 times for free to fix it and if I'm not happy with their work pay to fix it. They never completed it the first time so why would I pay again. I bought an HVAC unit from James a few years ago. They serviced it well the first time. I had major surgery, and a stroke, approximately 3 years ago, after which I felt comfortable with the temperature and the air flow. Approximately 3 months ago, I began to feel cold all the time, so I called them for service. After the service, I could feel cold air coming out of the vents constantly. The technician changed the settings and made it far too hot. He changed the settings again, and I was constantly cold, again. He also left my side garage door deadbolt open. I am disabled and live alone, so I had to have my neighbor come and lock it. I called again and asked for a different technician to come the next time, but they sent the same technician. He told me that a part needed to be replaced and he would get back to me about the cost of the part. It is now 2 months later and I have not heard from him. Contrary to their ad, which states that they will not charge overtime, but will do repairs and "Your Satisfaction is 100% Guaranteed", I am not satisfied and he did not return the unit to the previous settings. When I called, I was transferred to someone in leadership who said that they will not send someone out again unless I pay more money. read more

terrible AC install, improperly installed ac unit in attic, drain was not correct and pan to small, discovered leak 5 days in. By the time I realized there was a problem I had possibly ran out as much as 20 gallons of water in my attic. I called and they initially said they would take care of it. Waited around about three week when after calling to get some time frame they let me know they were done and to call their insurance. So ok whos your insurance?, look them up I was told.... found out who it was and got the typical insurance run around.. in the mean time I'm trying not to have my trusses turn to mold, So I ended up calling MY home owners insurance who ended up paying damages, $7500. Naturally since I filed a claim I got the bonus of having my rates go up $300.. THANKS JAMES would never do business with again! also $200 to have another HVAC company come out install the correct drain pan. Before this happened to me I had refered another couple to this Co. (they used to be better) they also had leaks but for them it was a garage floor. read more

I had a young man come out to repair my AC, but he spent hours looking at the manual and on the phone with someone with more experience. Then he told me which AC unit didn't work (which was obvious), and ordered a part. Another young man came out to install that part, and said the wrong part was ordered. He said he'd call in a couple days to set appointment after he ordered the correct part. Weeks went by. I called, left messages. Finally I got a third appointment. Another man came, who seemed very capable and kind. He installed the part. After he left, the AC began making loud noises and leaking down the wall. So, I was right back to where I started when I first called. However now I have spent more trying to fix this unit than a replacement would cost. read more

My technician, Andrew, did a thorough tune up for me. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He showed up right on time and was dog-friendly, which is a plus. He tuned up my furnace then checked on my AC unit. He also replaced my filter. James Heating and AC charged me a very fair rate, which I appreciate. We had James Heating and Air Conditioning install a new heat pump about 5 years ago and they did a great job. Flash forward to last May and we were experiencing issues with our system not working anymore. They sent out someone who diagnosed a relay issue and that our zone board had gone bad. They fixed the relay and ordered us a new zone board which showed up a week later. Here's where things didn't work out for us, they sent out a different person to install the zone board and after this we no longer could get cold air to blow out of the vents upstairs. We called and explained what we were experiencing and they sent out a different person again who told me the issue was our system was only designed to handle up 95 degree weather, that there was nothing wrong with the system and that the optimum way to fix this would be to have 2 heat pumps . He cleaned our heat pump (which the guy who installed the zone board did as well) and charged us quite a bit just to wash it. Here we are now at the end of July and we've been running the downstairs system as cold as we can with the fans on to help pull the cold air upstairs. My wife and I had heard about a new smart thermostat from some friends so we purchased 2 Ecobee thermostats and I opted to install them myself. After finishing the upstairs install, we still couldn't get the heat pump to turn on. I ended up climbing into the crawl space and checking out the wiring on the new zone board and found that the HVAC trigger wire which was supposed to be on terminal Y1 was on W2 and is what was causing the system to not work. Now accessing our HVAC unit in the attic is not the easiest, you almost need to be a contortionist to get through everything but you would think during the last call out the guy would have checked all of the wires to ensure they were connected to the proper terminals on Zone 2. Unfortunately, I think we will find a new HVAC company to service our system next time. read more

I calle James heating for an appointment, they did not show or call, this was understandable as there was a big snow storm so I made a second appointment, the roads were clear but they did not show or call. I made a third appointment and they showed up on time. The tech found the problem a small motor that moved the damper was not working. The tech said the motor was obsolete so the whole damper system would have to be replaced. He said he would call the next day with a quote. Three days later I called James heating and they assured me the tech would call me that day. It has now been a week since my call and still nothing. It is unusual for a person to give a positive rating to a company for not doing the work, but that is what I'm doing. James Heating had come out on the agreed day to install my new AC. That is when I realized I had misread the contract. It was my fault. As a result, I had to ask the installers to stop. I knew I would have to pay for their coming out and getting started. I felt bad about the confusion I caused, but the James' employees were very understanding. I would not hesitate to hire James Heating again and then making sure I read the agreement. read more

They beat the competition in regards to new equipment installation by a whopping 200% however their duct cleaning is a bit expensive, but this is quickly overlooked by the careful consideration that the service people put in keeping your place clean while they perform their job, so we are more than willing to embrace the wee bit extra. As a matter of absolute importance is the tone and intonation of the phone and scheduling staff, and the good folks at James are some of the finest. I recently moved into a new home and found out quickly that there was no AC Unit. I called James Heating and Conditioning and got a quote for a new AC/Heater Unit. I scheduled an apt for my duct work to be cleaned first by James Heating before they installed the new unit. Jessie came out and did a Fantastic job. I felt bad because it took him a long time because it was a good size home. Within a week the new unit arrived and had Terrance, Gregg and Roger install my unit. I could not be more pleased with my unit and they still got to use my existing furnace, since that was probably the only thing new in that home. I was so grateful for them because during this last summer with the fires and etc it worked like a dream. I requested a proposal from James Heating to replace our ancient home gas forced air furnace with a two-stage model. James Heating's proposal noted "two-stage" furnace on the top line, plus installation, and duct cleaning, for a reasonable price. We accepted, and they proceeded to install a single-stage furnace. When I later discovered this and challenged them, their response was that this furnace "while single stage, was perfectly good". I've since read similar reports about them substituting inferior furnaces. Obviously we have no intention of using them again for our home or our rental business. Beware! read more
