If you ever purchase from James Avery, be sure you love it and do not need to return it. I returned something but was told the return would need to come from the main office. Since then I have been told the return went to my credit card company, but the credit card company says they never got a single thing from James Avery. The weird thing is James Avery Customer Service has been rude and righteous, sure that they are right and everyone else is wrong. They won't do anything but say "we sent it so it is not our problem" in a vicious voice! As a result, I am never getting a refund for a piece of gold jewelry! read more

A Texas tradition and a favorite of my wife, James Avery wins my customer service award for the holidays. I placed my order in early December picking a 5 link bracelet personalized with our names and little Rooster in the middle. We've had identical bracelets made in the past and never an issue until this round. The engraving took just over a week and I was called to pick it up. The sales staff on this visit was friendly; but definitely feeling the holiday grind. Folks demanding stuff on the phone and a steady stream of customers proved casual banter as they showed me Jenny's Christmas gift. The gleam of the perfect lighting on the silver, my name, Jenny's name, and Rogster. Umm, my kids name is Rooster. I've now experienced full on deadline panic. The two staffers swore they would call the factory immediately and they would have it back in time for Christmas. I had the bracelet back in 5 days, corrected and ready to go. Best customer service I recall this holiday season. JA despite the error executed a glowing recovery and saved my Christmas bacon. 5 Happy Holidays stars from the Rooster family. read more

James Avery Craftsman - Jewelry Near Me - Austin, Texas

I read allot of poor reviews about James Avery but I just had a great experience with them. I dropped my necklace chain that needed repair off on Saturday and it was repaired and clean the next day. And the best part was that since it was James Avery it was all at no charge. Laura waited on me and even put the necklace on me. Great service and attentive staff. My Christmas gift from my youngest daughter is good for another 13 years!! read more

I was seeking a necklace and was shown by a sales lady a beautiful necklace but i felt is was well over priced for 14kt gold necklace which was almost 1050.00. I know quality jewerly but this was not high quality but was not what I was expecting. Yes grant it James Avery is one of the most gifted craftman in jewelry around but realistically it was over priced. I do felt compelled to say how I was feeling the sales woman did a great sales job but still I would not forked down that kind of money on 14k necklace that looked to featherlight gold. I started looking for other jewerly in the show cases and saw how beautiful the bracelets were. I would return only if they show reasonable prices but who knows I would give it a go if I knew the prices would drop a tad. Ok How could these prices compare to other stores maybe too much competition out there to be sort of too greedy on items you can get on line. Maybe I return or take a pass. I think a about it now ....until next yelp adventure...see ya soon. read more

I grew up with JA, and I am no youngster. While the products are nice, they're overpriced since you're paying for the name. You can find comparable quality silver jewelry at a fraction of the cost many other places. With customer service, the employees are nice but their order/checkout process is so 1980s. You have to write down product# then wait in line for someone to #1, manually look in a drawer to see if it's in stock and #2, they want your name, address and phone# to complete the order. If I wanted to be on their mailing list, I'd sign up...and why the heck do they need my phone#? The whole checkout process is slow, frustrating and intrusive. It seems like it's designed to be more convenient for JA than the customer. I used to love this place, now it just feels outdated. Pretty sure I am done with JA for good. read more

J.A......what have you done? What is going on? About ten years ago, I would have given this place all 5 stars, easy.... Times have changed! Used to, if someone even mentioned James or Avery in the same breath, a heap full of estrogen would be piled in the car before that sentence was even over with. Nowadays, the charms, not so charming..... The prices, not so charming.........I have a list of what J.A. can now stand for like Just Absurd, Jewel-Aholic, Jipping Artists, and there are a lot more that are not viewer appropriate, but you can hopefully catch my sterling silver drift..... I remember when the SAME charms a few years back were around $15 (like the drama faces, the star, etc.) and now those exact same charms have gone all the way up to $37.50......why? I got one of their chains not too long ago as a gift and within a month, it accidentally broke. We got the warranty or service plan, but they still wanted to charge me to "send it off to get a new one" which ended up costing the same price as buying a new one.....I went to a competitor in the same mall and found a better chain, anyway. It just made me sad..... Getting old or retired charms here is also like an act of Congress (even though sometimes people on CL are totally selling the charms for what they used to cost). I LOVED the panda charms they used to have, but they, like the pandas, are pretty much extinct now, too, and if I give J.A. a limb, they may actually reproduce one for me.....how nice... How many dead presidents do you need to take now to go into a J.A. store now? Just Ask Andrew Jackson? (yeah right....and a couple of his old friends)..... Maybe I would feel better if my receipt was dipped in a bit of actual silver? If I am going to spend that much on sterling silver, I am going to invest it in a friend of mine named Tiffany..... Another one bites the dust, (for meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee).... read more

Absolutely LOVE this place. So small yet so welcoming. I've heard at times it can get packed and crazy, but I've had enough fortune to never experience that. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable and the best part is that they don't TRY to sell you anything, they just try and help you find something you might like. And when you find it, they never push you towards buying something more expensive or something you don't want. I've purchased many charms and bracelets for the women in my life from here and they are always a hit. James Avery doesn't just sell you jewelry, it sells you a feeling, a personal story in every charm you buy for someone you love. Prices are arguably high, but it's quality work and every piece has character for which I say prices are pretty much reasonable. Take advantage of the free charm event they have every so often, and give the gift that truly keeps on giving. read more

Very disappointed this year with JA! I always love buying gifts here for Christmas but this year the wrapping has gone down hill! Where's the lovely ribbon and signature wrapping paper? I'll take my business elsewhere if we are starting to cut corners... Not to mention just "ok" customer service. Disappointed! read more

I returned a Christmas gift within maybe two weeks of receiving it (with receipt) with plans to spend several hundred more dollars on a gold ring. The staff inspected the earrings in front of me like I was trying to deceive them then they conferred in hushed voices, took the earrings in the back and were gone for maybe ten minutes then came back and said they'd do ONLY a store credit (hello that's what I wanted) and acted like they were doing me a huge favor. It was awful. They refused to return silver ear wires so I have them sitting somewhere collecting dust. I'll never shop this location again. read more

Spent a lot of time looking online and decided to pickup a couple of things in the store after looking/touching them. Really wanted to see the difference in chains, but they're not laid out like that - everything's in different cases and it's really hard to compare. Staff was nice enough and wanted to help, but with a crazy long line and not enough people to help, it just seemed like a waste of time. Too many other great jewelry stores around that work a lot harder to get my business. read more

A few days ago a silver band was purchased at J A. I must say the shopping experience was not an enjoyable one. The sales lady at the Barton Creek mall was very aloof. It appeared that she had issues making the sale because we are an interracial couple. It gives me pause to think that in 2012 people behave in this manner. If this is any representation of the company then I shall not be spending my money at this jeweler again. read more

My wife and daughters always enjoy the jewelry gifts I purchase from them.

I searched online and found what I wanted and today visited the store location at Barton creek mall. I was promptly greeted by Debbie, who was knowledgeable and friendly. I vaguely described the charm and she took me right to it. She then helped me pick the right size chain and length and did not try to persuade me in the direction of the more expensive. She also did not try to upsale me, ask me to join a club or any other form of harassment. She clearly saw I knew what I wanted and was there to purchase the item. Debbie remembered to offer me a gift card, which she placed in a professional holder and gently stuffed it into the beautiful gift bag! read more

I've always had good service with James Avery, but I recently had another good experience and thought I'd share it. I bought some earrings at James Avery about 10 years ago. I've worn these earrings with my flight attendant uniform for years. One of the earrings recently broke. I took them back into James Avery. They fixed them, cleaned them, so they were like new, all at no charge. Now that is customer service! read more

Useful jewelry but I can understand why the cost of it has gone up since the price of silver overall has gone up. Im sure it would be hard for someone to understand why prices went up unless they were paying attention to the gold/silver/ and platinum markets. Silver at 39.90 an aounce currently will keep going up. But the fact remains that while making items cost for productions is also included with the actual amount of silver. Overall a good experience. read more
