I was unsure of what to order, what the differences were, and if their açaí had any dairy in it. The guy behind the counter was confident and was able to tell me that they're dairy free and that the build your own bowls are the same price as the pre-made selected ones that were also on the menu. He was incredibly helpful and made the experience not feel awkward. Everyone there just seemed so happy to be there and it had a good vibe. After ordering, we sat down and waited 5-10 minutes or so for our 2 medium sized açaí bowls. The mediums are about 24oz. of product, which sounded like a lot to me, but I was able to finish in one sitting. The açaí was so authentic tasting vs. a sugary smoothie tasting one. The honey on top was a free option as well which was nice. Overall, a bowl is around $15-$16 plus tax, but for a medium bowl was around $18/$19 plus tax. It's definitely a little on the pricier side, especially when a meal on average is $15 or so. With the surrounding area also being families and students, I feel like I would go there more if they were just a couple dollars cheaper, but I don't mind paying it if it's every once in a while.

When I arrived, I was greeted and waited to place my order. An employee suggested that I use one of the kiosks instead. I noticed several customers waiting to order, so I decided to place my order directly through the Ubatuba website on my phone while inside the restaurant. After ordering, I waited quite a while. During that time, I noticed customers who had arrived after me receiving their orders first. Eventually, I heard my name called, went to pick up the order, and returned to my car. Once I got to my car, I realized the bowl I had received was not my order. I immediately returned to the restaurant to let the staff know. The employee took the bowl, threw it away, and said, "Yeah, I know you took her order. Next time listen for your name." I found that comment both unfair and unprofessional. This was clearly an honest mistake. I genuinely believed I had heard my name called. If I had intentionally taken someone else's order, I certainly would not have returned to correct the mistake. The employee then told me that I had placed my order through DoorDash and that my order was separated from the others. This was confusing because I did not place my order through DoorDash; I ordered directly through the Ubatuba website. If the company uses a third-party system behind the scenes, that is not something customers are made aware of during the ordering process. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What was disappointing was not the mix-up itself, but the way the situation was handled. A simple explanation or a courteous response would have gone a long way. Instead, I was made to feel as though I had done something wrong when I was trying to correct an honest mistake. I have always enjoyed Ubatuba and have had positive experiences in the past, which is why this interaction stood out. I hope situations like this are handled so future customers are treated with more professionalism and respect.

They once competed with Menchies and Pink-berry both just across in adjacent shopping centers. Now, it's one of the go-to fro-yo places, if not Yozen Frogurt across the freeway. Between the two, if you're looking for fro-yo, Yogurtland is the way to go. If you're looking for a sweet treat or any kind of ice cream, Yogurtland typically isn't my first choice. Every single time I've come to this location, at least one of the flavors doesn't work and is just liquid. There's not always a sign, and this most recent time, it was their tart and root-beer float flavors. The flavors that they did have were good and offered a variety of around 10 options, some of which change based on new promotions or events happening. When it comes to dairy free, I think they had only one sorbet flavor unfortunately. For their toppings, there's a bunch to choose from like fruit, candy, mochi, cereal, sauces, and more. My sister and I put ours on the scale, paid, and sat outside to eat. When it comes to price, Yogurtland isn't bad, but they're definitely not great and have raised their price per ounce. Now, they're about $0.70-$0.85 an ounce, but it really ranges based on location, some going up to $1.35 an ounce. Even so, that means that a pint of ice cream would cost you $13.60 without tax, when a normal pint of ice cream at the store is around $3-$5. That's like having three pints of ice cream vs. one. They have seating inside and outside, which is nice, as well as a fountain outside with the neighboring restaurants and stores. This is a place where a lot of the surrounding high school students come through, so I wouldn't expect peace and quiet, even though the neighborhoods typically are. The workers at Yogurtland have also pretty much always have been high schoolers or college students, and most of the time, there seems to be only one person working, so sometimes the process can be a bit timely. Overall, Yogurtland isn't a bad place to grab fro-yo, but if you want ice cream or a sweet treat, you might be better off spending the same money, if not less, getting a pint of Ben and Jerry's at the grocery store across the street.

When we arrived, there was only one party ahead of us with 3 people in it who wanted 3 smoothies. Additionally, when we looked at the menu, we noticed that there was literally only one option that didn't have dairy in it. When we got to the counter, I asked the cashier if there were any non-dairy substitutes. She froze and said she didn't know, and then she recommended Chobani yogurt...which was still dairy...She said there weren't any smoothies with no dairy, although I had only found one on the menu. We ordered and then proceeded to wait around 20-25 minutes. There was only one cashier and what looked like the owner working. Since they were understaffed and realistically should have probably had at least one other person working, it was a huge turn-off in coming back again, especially since there wasn't a huge line to begin with. There ended up being people that came in after us and I know if I was on my lunch break from one of the next door stores in the shopping center, that I wouldn't be able to come here because of how long it takes alone. The smoothies themselves were good, but for someone who is dairy-free, I won't be coming back since the only real substantial smoothie that they can make is the one option. I don't want to have a watered down smoothie or one that has a weird consistency that's on their menu with dairy already. My mom and sister liked theirs, but regretted waiting as long as we did. I'd love to support them if they ever decide to expand their menu and have dairy alternatives, as I think the majority of LA and the surrounding areas would also appreciate it. I think hiring more than one person would help the speed of things and secure more of a loyal customer base that's possible in Westlake Village.
