I'm a Brazilian living in Thousand Oaks and can attest this is the real deal! I would have rated 10 stars if it was available.

Went to Mastro's Steakhouse recently and Brittney was incredible. Super friendly, attentive, and…read morereally great about making recommendations without ever being pushy. We tried the maple glazed steak bacon appetizer and the jumbo prawn & filet -- both were amazing. The filet was cooked perfectly and the prawns were so good. Overall, it was just a really great experience. Brittney genuinely cares about her guests having a good time, and you can tell. Will definitely be back.

I had previously been to the Thousand Oaks location of Mastro's Steakhouse for a work function and…read morereally enjoyed it, so for Mother's Day I suggested my daughters and I go there for dinner. We had a 7:45 reservation and waited about 15 minutes, which honestly wasn't a huge issue considering it was Mother's Day and we booked last minute. We sat in the bar area, which was semi-dark and a little loud, but still had a nice atmosphere overall. Our waitress, Britney, was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered drinks, bread came out quickly, and we placed our dinner order. When the food arrived, the plates were extremely hot as usual, so we waited a moment before touching them while our sides were still being served. As Britney was serving the asparagus, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese, one of my daughters noticed a hair on her plate. Britney immediately stopped and asked what was wrong. My daughter explained, and Britney asked if she wanted a clean plate or an entirely new meal made. My daughter seemed uncomfortable and just asked for a clean plate. Britney took the plate back to show the kitchen and returned with the steak, but without the asparagus that had originally been on the plate. I didn't say anything at the time, but what disappointed me was that she later served the remaining asparagus pieces that had been left over from the original serving dish. We still tried to enjoy the rest of our evening, and overall the service was pleasant, but I was honestly surprised nothing was replaced or comped considering the situation. I wasn't looking for anything free, but I did expect a little more attention to detail and hospitality, especially at a restaurant with Mastro's reputation.

So when it…read morecame time to celebrate an occasion with my elderly Mom, I chose the FdC near us in Woodland Hills, CA. This was truly a remarkable experience, but not in a good way. We were seated on the "patio" which is literally a foot from the public sidewalk of Topanga Canyon Blvd with only a half-wall to separate us. The patio smelled like cat and human urine; understandable with the public sidewalk so close (one could easily step over the little gates on the "wall" between the patio and public sidewalk.) The "Marketplace" salad bar was just okay. Fruit, potato salad, and a few other non-remarkable sides. Honestly, the buffet at Sizzler has more selections. Sad for the "Brazilian Churrasco Experience." The traveling carvers were prompt to bring by a few of the carved meats. Those were okay. Each time a side came we thought it would be better, but not. The food quality is just not worth the substantial price-tag. I had a small soda, at a hefty price of $5.35. I asked later for a soda refill, and didn't know until we received the bill that I was charged $5.35 for EACH REFILL. Seriously? For a fountain soda? The bill for the two of us at Brunch came to $235. Honestly, a burger and fries at Red Robin would have been a better meal. At least they don't seem to allow people to urinate on their restaurant patio. Beyond disappointing is an understatement. My elderly Mom was with me and she enjoyed the company but left a lot of food behind. Definitely not worth the FdC price. We won't be returning. It's too bad that one of the "newer" FdC did not take the same classic foods and service as the Beverly Hills location. Eater beware.

We don't mind the small cold/hot bar since we like only a couple items, and they always have them available. Our favorite is the Picanha. I will usually take the first slices since these are often at medium to well done so the husband can have the medium rare to rare center. For our sides, a heaping portion of plantains for me and black beans for him. It was all very good -- consistent with past experiences. The workers are usually ok -- not really friendly, but not rude either. The issue with this visit came when I later noticed on the receipt that although our plates weighed almost exactly the same and both had a hot side, one was charged at the highest price of $24.95/lb (BBQ only). At that point we had already finished our lunch. Not being able to trust a business to charge correctly is unfortunate. I will now need to remember to always check the receipt before leaving the register at La Vaca.

REVIEW FROM A BRAZILIAN--…read more I was so excited to see this place in the food court, so I skipped on my usual dining options and gave this place a go. I tend not to have high expectations from mall food courts and this place definitely met that standard-- it was terrible. I like that you serve yourself. They have all of the options laid out for you and it's neat and clean. They even have farrinha and guarana (the best item offered here)! Rice was probably the most okay item that was unseasoned. The greens...... all I can say is unseasoned so it was very tart and... disgusting. Moving on to the beans.... It tasted like they grabbed a can of black beans with low sodium and no seasoning, heat it up in the microwave, and served it. They need to take the words "brazilian" out of the title this point. Meat was..... not authentic AT ALL. It felt like they just grabbed any cut of meat and slapped a label on it-- as if the words "picanha" or "linguica" could somehow magically replicate the taste. The meat was terrible as it is, but the linguica?? It needs to go back where they found it-- 'cause it was TERRIBLE. The staff was just there to collect a paycheck, which I can't be mad at that. They weren't rude or anything-- just not very vibrant or energetic. Again.. doesn't make or break a business. It felt like a non-brazilian cooked all of these items and missed every single key ingredient of flavor you could've possibly added to make this better. If you're Brazilian-- don't get your hopes up. Grab the guarana and go on about your day. Eating here is like a slap in the face and you WILL feel disrespected that someone thought this was okay to open a business. If you're not Brazilian-- try Fogo down the street. Yes, it's pricier-- but considering the price I paid for a box HERE..... you can spare $20 extra dollars and eat at an ALL YOU CAN EAT place that at least gets the flavors right.

Arrived around 7pm on a Sunday and were super silly and didn't put in a reservation beforehand, so we had to wait about 30-40 minutes before securing a table (pro tip: GET A RESERVATION! Sunday night is family night, so it will be tough just being able to simply walk in without a wait). After a beer at another location, we got the glorious text from Gen saying our table was ready, so we scrambled to get back ~30minutes later. We were seated and were met with Arvin, our incredible server. Since we all have been there, he didnt have to go through the rigamarole of telling us how to our nght would go, so we got to orderin! First off, the menu is HUUUUUUUUGE. There are so many options to choose from and we got so many things. My personal favorites were: Kimchi fried rice w/ Cheese - so flavorful with a little bit of kick (i love the spicy) Corn Cheese - because of course Spicy Pork bulgolgi - Again Spicy Honey spicy bulgolgi - This surprised me at how much i liked this. So good They even serve my favorite sake here (Kikusui) which was excellent! Great night over at Gen! Arvin, our server was amaxing, gave us lots of recommendations and treated us really well. This was a bit of a going away dinner for myself, but I know that there are tons of other locations of Gen! If I don't catch this particular location again soon, im sure ill be at another up north!

We ordered from the regular menu. The brisket seemed leaner than I remember and didn't taste as high quality as it used to. The pork belly was cut way too thick, I prefer thinner slices so you can get a better char and crisp texture. The galbi marinade also felt a little off this time, slightly too sweet and missing that smoky charred flavor. That said, the service was above average and surprisingly quick despite how busy it was. Honestly, one of the main reasons I still come here is because there aren't many KBBQ options in Ventura County unless you're willing to drive out farther.
