I really enjoy Jamaican food but there aren't many places close by the Cypress. So imagine my surprise when surfing Yelp looking for a new spot to try and this popped up! I so desperately wanted to like this place and decided to try a new Jamaican place to expand my repertoire of Caribbean food places. I DoorDashed this order because I'm not able to go into restaurant right now. As you can tell from the photos, the packaging really needs some work. For the prices that they charge one should actually expect more sturdy packaging And handling. This is not the DoorDash drivers fault. This is poor packaging in flimsy polystyrene. When you charge the kind of prices you charge for the food that you are selling then there is an expectation that you would pay some attention and take some pride in packaging to ensure that it reaches your customers in a manner that is reflective of the price you're charging. Let's talk about the food. As I mentioned previously, I eat a lot of Jamaican food and these dishes have been altered to suit a more bland palate . Either that or whoever prepared these dishes today used too much of the brown sugar browning because both these dishes were sweet and had very little flavor. The rice and peas were fantastic and so was the cabbage. This restaurant is a definite no for me. I will be using other local Jamaican restaurants to order my food from. Island spice Bar and Tropical spice diner offer far better value for money and their food has not been changed to suit the Anglo palate . Funny thing - they also have trouble with packaging .
