Whew wee let me tell you guys about this place. I recently took a trip to Houston and I have to earnestly say this was one of the definite highlights of my trip! We came here on a Friday night. This place offered phenomenal flavorful Jamaican cuisine. I'm not lying when I say we were eating the food with our eyes closed! The prices were fair and the portions were huge I was soooo satisfied! Staff was super nice, cool, and suggestive! They definitely helped in elevating the experience for me. And the restaurant definitely had an intimate feel to it. I also loved the ambiance! It's the perfect mix of restaurant and (lowkey) lounge vibes. They have music (live DJ was playing all the hits) and alcohol as well. I had the rum punch and it was superrrr strong haha, definitely left out of there leaning. And I'm not talking about a little kick I'm talking about so strong I was thinking they accidentally gave me punch flavored rum and not rum punch. I 100% recommend this spot and will be visiting again on my next Houston visit! read more

Called an hour early, around 7, to place a pickup order. The woman who answered asked what I'd like, and as soon as I started talking she said she could no longer hear me and hung up. I called back four more times (at different times AND with wifi + service) and was ignored EVERYTIME. Still wanting to try this place, I had my mother call from her number, and they picked up immediately. She was told they'd stopped cooking around 7, but I could still get anything if I arrived before 8. I got there at 7:50 and they were almost out of everything. When I asked about jerk chicken and oxtail, something I'd tried to order an hour early, the woman at the front gave me attitude for asking. I said never mind and went back to my car. A large male employee then walked out and stood right at my car door, as if to intimidate a 5'3" woman alone in her car. I backed up and moved to a different spot to get away from him, while getting dirty looks from staff the whole time. This was the rudest and most unsettling experience I've ever had with a restaurant. Being ignored on the phone is one thing, but having an employee corner your car afterward is unacceptable. I paid $40 VIP parking for a concert here. I left early to find cars parked all in the entrance way and the entrance out. NO ONE could leave! We got the curry shrimp and rice and peas, 2 beef patties, goat curry and rice and peas. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The goat was tender and flavorful. The cabbage on the side was also a delicious bonus. I recommend this place to get a taste of the Caribbean 100% read more

I've been to this place a couple of times and was satisfied with the food. I always order the large jerk chicken. Today was a different story. I ordered my food to go. The chicken that they served me seemed old and had a funny taste to it. The thigh which is usually the softer and tenderest part of the chicken was hard. This was my first time trying this restaurant and it was great. The food was fresh and hot. Plenty of food for your money. I highly recommend this spot. I was so impressed and in this day and time when food is so costly there is enough food to share on one plate. We ordered two oxtails plates and they were spot on for me. I have stomach issues and I have to be very careful of eating certain foods. However everything was excellent. Oxtails were tender falling off the bone. Can't believe I've never entered a review for Caribbean Hotpot. Look I'll make this short and sweet....YOU NEED THEM IN YOUR LIFE!!! LOL But seriously, Caribbean Hotpot is the best. Been coming here foverrrrr! Their food, service and whole set up has always been excellent. The north side has nothing like it in the area. Oxtails? Yes. Stewed chicken? Yes. Veggie patties? Curried goat? Yessss! There's even a veggie plate (I forget the name on menu) that I order quite a bit. And for me to order a plate of food that's only veggies besides a salad says a lot. You can tell their items are cooked with love and true Caribbean know how. Peas & rice never mushy. The curry isn't just all heat & salt. There's actual flavor of herbs and spices. Juicy, tender oxtails. They've got a bar in there too if you want to wash things down with a beer or mixed drink. And yes they have brunch & it's amazing! Never been disappointed with a meal. Good place to take out, but not necessarily to dine in. Their table service is not traditional where the waitress seats you to take your order. You order from the counter and seat yourself. The food is already prepared and kept in warmers. It still was hot temperature wise. They have a full bar, but there was no bartender on Friday night. So you could only get basic drinks. The food here (this is the second location) is hit or miss. Sometimes the patties are good and other times they aren't. Depending on your server you can get a very lean portion or a good portion. In addition sometimes the rice isn't good or some entrees don't taste as great as I remember. Finding Caribbean Hotpot Grill was for me one of life's Happy Accidents. I was driving around looking for another establishment and saw Hotpot Grill tucked away in a Plaza. Loving Jamaican food, I thought I would give it a try. I had the oxtail dinner with a soda to go. The food was not only delicious, the oxtails, fall off the bone tender, but the portions were generous. Not a couple of bones and little tails pieces, but generous. I've since gone back several times for the same, and each time has been exactly the same, truly delicious with generous portions. If you love Jamaican food, and have been looking for a place to go or order out from, this is it. I plan to try the ackee and salt fish on my next visit, and will of course, leave a review.
