Nice waterfront dining. Great service. Good food. The food is good quality and freshly prepared. A wide selection of drinks and beer. This is a must stop place on the Jersey Shore. Not your average mediocre boardwalk joint but real food. read more

My friends and myself loved this place. We went there Wednesday and was so disappointed. They downsized the menu and it's not so good anymore. The prices were jacked up also. What a shame. read more

I used to come here all the time when I was a little and haven't been here in about ten years, so way pre-Sandy. The food was okay at the time, you just had to stick to a few basics and you'd be alright. The atmosphere was always great, even if the weather was a little iffy, as there were plastic sidings and a roof over the back portion of the restaurant. I was in for quite a shock when I arrived last night, the entire restaurant is outdoors! It's a wonderful, sprawling area with a great bar, picnic benches, bar tables and even fire pits for when the weather is a bit cool. Then in a separate section is the dining area that you put your name down for to wait. The really neat thing about this area is there's not one bad seat in the house. You're always against the railing to look down at the water. You also have a clear view of the Verazzano bridge and the New York skyline. Wait was about half hour-forty five minutes, it was nice to hang at the bar with a drink while waiting. The hosts/hostesses have a great system where they write the name down on a whiteboard so people can see as well as hear when a name is up for a table. Service was very nice, but just very slow. Maybe they were short-staffed. Food was outrageously good. Like, I was surprised how good it was. Menu is relatively small, but what they do make, they make well. We got the ahi tuna nachos, which was our favorite by far, and was a great big portion. It had tuna, napa cabbage, freshly made wontons, and a wasabi dressing. It reminds me a lot of the tuna appetizer that Houlihan's has. We also got the oaxaca shrimp with tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño and avocado. It tasted just like a shrimp gazpacho soup and I mean that as a high praise, it was fabulous and it was absolutely clear they used Jersey tomatoes. Dinner I had a crab cake sandwich that was pretty good - I ate it without the bun. I wish it came with a wedge of lemon but wasn't too much of an issue since I just used one from another's plate. This place was such a home run. Since this place is all about the atmosphere I kept my expectations low on the food front and they were completely blown out of the water. I am just sad I waited till the end of the season to come here. I can't wait to come back next summer. read more

If you're looking for a drink with views durning the summer, this place is it. Food could be better. Servers are very nice.

Loved the outdoor vibe and the live music. The waitress could use a personality but other than that everything was fine. When your not busy you should not tell someone to go to the host stand and sit them at the same able you made them get up from. You should just say please stop by the hostess stand next time. This happened to the people who sat next to us. I won't even go into what happened to us. read more

Visited only once during the day time. Atmosphere: casual and airy Food: we had the clams, burger and pitcher of sangria. The food was very basic nothing that blew our mind. Atmosphere: This is really the selling point of this establishment. It's literally on the water. You have the ocean and beach view all around. Overall: I would come back here for a quick bit or just drinks. You just can't beat the view here read more

Jakeabob's is a very nice spot in Union Beach Yesterday was a nice day to be there. I have been going there for quite a few years and enjoy the atmosphere and the food is usually pretty good, but the food I ordered was a small portion for the price and the drink was good but it was server in a cup that was a little bigger than a dixie cup loaded with ice, smaller that the average size at other locations, $10.00 for this drink definitely feel cheated. read more

Great atmosphere. Our waitress was a sweetheart. Food was pretty decent, drinks are weak. Overall, cool spot to sit by the water and have a good time. read more

I absolutely love JakeaBob's - it's the perfect place to relax outdoors and drink/eat on a nice day. This is my go-to summer spot. The seating is all outdoors - there are tables and chairs on decks right over the water. There is even a beautiful view of NYC in the distance. It's a really great atmosphere, and it's the perfect place to sit back with friends and a glass of sangria in hand. The food is also excellent. I highly recommend the JackeaBob's salad - it has bruschetta and chicken on it and it's delicious. Cheers to JakeaBob's! read more

I hate to give a low rating to someplace I used to really enjoy especially during a pandemic but hoping maybe they will see it and fix issues. I'll also preface this with the fact I spent many years waitressing and it sucks and I never am rude to wait staff. I always calmly tell them of any issues. We were seated and had to wait almost 20 minutes before our waitress approached us for drinks. By then, we knew what we wanted to order. Two soft drinks, one app, two mains. I specifically said we'd like to start with this app. Well, the app and two entrees came out together and it's a pet peeve. After the bus boy dropped them off, the waitress checked on us and I told her calmly, I wasnt expecting the app with the entrees which is why i said we would start with the app. (I mean that's basic waitressing 101 app first.). She just said oh sorry. Really could not gaf. I also asked for some more napkins. 10 minutes later we finally got them. One of our entrees had cut up lemons in it and the sticker was still on it. Just gross. She didnt check on us again until we were complete and i showed her the lemon and she just said oh gross. Almost $100 for 1 app, 2 entrees, 2 soft drinks, crappy service and stickers on fruit. Not worth it. The food was medicore, not as good as 2 years ago. Service was horrible. There are far better places to eat at. I can no longer recommend this place. I'd go back for a drink at the bar but never dining again. read more

Great view on a summer day and looking for sandwiches. Literally can't beat the view of NYC and the water.

This place has all the hype, but for no damn reason! Jimmy B was highly disappointed. The buckets were wack sauce. The wings were ice cold. Cheeseburger overcooked with a stale bun. Will not be back anytime soon. Jimmy B don't play games, but this place does. read more

Decided to try this place out on a Friday night. The wait was about 40 minutes but we were seated within 25-30 minutes. There's a tiki bar and music to keep the time going. The views are spectacular and it's a pretty big joint. Drinks are nicely priced and portioned and taste very good. Our table decided just to order appetizers since everything looked so good and nothing fell short. Everything was fresh, hot and super tasty. We got the shrimp and clams bowls and they were top notch !! We also ordered buffalo shrimp, quesadillas, buffalo wings some salads etc. Everything was very very good. Service was very quick and friendly. Overall would definitely come back. *Bring a jacket. It's on the water and gets chilly on summer nights* * Order the rum buckets. It's worth the price and very tasty* read more

Food is unbelievably horrible. I know they "switched up the menu" (sort of), but it appears amateur at best. You're on the water but the seafood program is a sideshow.. and you have.. blueberry ribs? Ew. We ordered everything at once. Our appy came about 5 min after we ordered; mains about 5 after that. Unsettling to think that food can be "made" that fast. Maybe I'm not being as understanding of their trailer situation but here's the real scoop - you drag my stay time out, I'll buy more drinks! One thing was worse than the next: Tinga Nachos: dripping with grease, store-bought cheap chips, and shredded lettuce Hawaiian Tuna Tower: $$$ for mostly rice, pre-chopped ahi tuna (that was warm), tomatillo salsa (?), and store-bought chips (see a trend here?) Pulled pork tacos: On a scale from 1-10, this were.. DISGUSTING. Microwaved liquid smoke pork on top of.. you guessed it, store-bought tortillas and hard, microwaved shredded cheese. We sent it back. Waitress was understanding, but almost too quick to comp the tacos. Was shocked when we received the check - still super expensive for crap food and a couple of drinks. Jakeabob's has a killer location, the drinks are fine, and the servers are nice - just stop the food program. Cooking out of trailers just isn't going to happen. read more

Great food and amazing staff. Lots of local bands, so if you go at night, be advised it can get a bit loud. Drinks are super yummy: I highly recommend the rum buckets and mermaid water. It's right on the water, so there's a lovely breeze, but I usually spray myself with bug spray as I am a victim to all mosquitoes, or wear some sunblock since I am also Casper the ghost (no fault to the restaurant ). I've been going here for a few years and I was so excited they survived the pandemic as a local fan. read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled into Jakeabob's Bay on accident and I'm so happy we did!!! We waited for our table in the bar area and it was the first time ever that I was hoping the buzzer they gave us wouldn't go off because the bar vibe is awesome. Their live band plays songs that people actually like and they do an amaaaazing job covering them! I danced with my boyfriend and sipped on this super refreshing spiked strawberry lemonade with Tito's which reminded me of a slushy and is an absolute hit on a warm day. Then when we got seated for dinner, we were right on the water and our server Charlie is one of the best servers I've ever had!! Super attentive, with a smile on his face the entire night and happily guided us through the menu. We mainly had shrimp and muscles, which I think is a must here. Also, their food & drink prices are insanely reasonable. Then after dinner we went back to the bar to dance and sing along with everyone before we left. All in all, it was the best ending to a perfect Saturday. :) Go here asap if you want a good time with good people, staff, drinks, seafood & music! :) read more

Great waterfront bar! Bartender Matt makes the best drinks I've ever had. Extremely crowded on the weekends and a bit pricy for food.

Great view, good sized portions and creative new entrees. Love their summertime brunch.

Had a great bar experience here with friends! They usually always have live music from local artists, which gives a relaxed vibe. The food is delicious, I'm personally a fan of their pulled pork tacos! And if you're getting a drink the Island rum bucket is my favorite! It has banana rum in it which gives it that extra kick! read more

Yet another awesome meal here! Today was lunch. Ocean was angry and windy enough to close the umbrellas but who cares!!!! It's Jersey shore food. I had a new dish from a new menu. It was Josie's Big Three, I think. Shrimp, lump crab and clams in a garlic, wine, butter broth over pasta. Seafood heaven. The flavor was pure ocean seafood. Without a spoon I was sopping up the broth with toasted good bread, probably Portuguese style bread. When I ran out of bread I used the clam shell....oh yes I did. Husband had the crab cakes again. Why? Because he has to have them; he enjoys them so much. Sangria was also great. Service was spot on. It was a great salute to the last official day of summer but we will be back before the nice weather causes them to end their season. cheers read more

I've been here a couple of times previously for drinks and everything was fine. Love the location and they have live bands occasionally on weekends. But last weekend my friend and I decided to go grab a bite to eat here with his dog. We called ahead of time and spoke with a hostess to confirm that the place was dog-friendly and she said it was. Fast forward a few hours later when we show up and an incredibly rude, blonde-ish middle aged woman at the front desk tells us that there's no way we can come in with "that dog" because "this is a restaurant." *cue confused face* Has this woman really never seen a dog-friendly restaurant before? I politely explained that we had called earlier and were told that the restaurant was dog-friendly by someone on the phone and she refused to acknowledge that and just kept repeating that "this is a restaurant." We then asked if we could have a seat at the perimeter of the restaurant near the sidewalk and we would tie the dog outside near our table. Her response, I shit you not, was "no the town won't allow that because what if the dog bites someone?" I'm sorry, WHAT. Can't that argument be made about literally every dog anywhere? So all dogs in Union Beach are banned from being outside of their home? At that point we just laughed and left (go to Old Glory ya'll - way better menu/food AND they gladly accept your furry fam :) ). read more

Ambiance is absolute amazing. Me and the wife are definitely going to make this a must stop on the way home from the shore. The food was...... ok. We shared the seafood tower and I'd say half the items were great and the other half lacked flavor. They had some sort of bbq baby shrimp, which is why I decided to get this dish, but it wasn't anything. It was just shrimp chilling in melted ice cubes. The jumbo grilled shrimp were huuuuge though...and the crab was yummy...and clams were good, but again, lacked flavor. The food is definitely a little on the expensive side but again...ambiance. service was fine. Food was fine. read more

I actually never heard of the place before. My fiancee heard about it and decided to try it. It was a VERY hot but there was a great breeze. I loved being on the ocean, eating, drinking and seeing a view of New York in the distance. I ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri for my drink which was delicious! We shared the Buffalo Shrimp appetizer which was great but a super small portion for $13. Lastly, I got the Watermelon and Chicken salad which was extremely fresh and flavorful. The service was good and attentive. I'd check this place out again but I feel it's kind of overpriced especially the appetizers. read more
