Such a cool place! I heard that it never recovered after Sandy, the kitchen is working out of a trailer, and the seating is all on the dock over the water which is great. The place was pretty busy but we got seats right away, all the way at the end of the dock which was super cool. Our server Cole was great I loved everything about the way he helped us pick out something good and how attentive he was. We enjoyed some crispy wings, A pork belly BLT and an amazing cod fish taco, which came out so crispy and fried but also so juicy inside... I had a hard time eating it all! Can't wait to come back, had to stop at the bar after for a rum bucket which was good as well! read more

The location is easy access to the ocean view and the outdoor seating is quite comfortable. However we waited over 30 min for our order to come. Not until my husband had to go to the bathroom and grabbed someone random to ask if there was something wrong with our order, no one paid attention to us. Then the food immediately appeared which made me suspicious that it's been sitting around in the kitchen. Of course the chicken wings were dry and hard, and the scallops hamburger tasted overcooked. I am sorry to say this was not a good dinning experience for us. read more

Looove this casual waterfront dining option. I can never find a seat at the bar- Good for them it's always a hopping place in season. Food was okay, but the smell of salt air makes it all taste better (plus one star) read more

What a great evening we had at Jakebob's Bay. The atmosphere was just terrific with music in the background and one of the best views in Monmouth County. Service was spot on just the right amount of waiting time for each course. Our waitress Jacklyn was outstanding, she was very attentive and her food suggestions were on point. The tuna wontons were delicious. Can't get enough of this place, will be returning very soon. Keep up the good work "Jakebob's crew" !!!! read more

Jakeabob's never disappoints. You are right by the water with New York sky line views . The food and service are amazing. If you order drunkin shrimp and clams, make sure to order extra bread. You don't want to leave a drop of the awesome sauce. Burgers are big and juicy. PB&J burger - oh yes! With the fries, I always get 2 meals out of it. Drinks - red or white sangria are perfect for a hot day or night. The rum buckets are huge! A huge selection or beers and good wines. Live entertainment every night. Go early on the weekend - the secret is out on this gem on the water and it gets busy. People recognize good food, drinks & service and come back. Worth the trip! read more

This place is pretty cool, you literally eat on a pier above water! Drinks were good and service was great. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a nice time out by the water believe me I will be back! read more

We started off with the Fried Calamari & marinara sauce for $11. Very good size portion, cooked perfectly and lightly battered. We also had two chicken sandwiches off the specials menu that came with lettuce, tomato, red onions, bacon and a green chili sauce with a side of chips. The sandwich was very good (huge chicken breast) the kitchen never put bacon or red onion on the sandwich but our server brought us out a very large portion of bacon on the side to make up for it. The sandwich was excellent; juicy chicken and the green chili sauce had a great taste and a slight spice to it. The service was pretty slow which is where I took off a star. There wasn't really anyone there either. Our server (was very pleasant) just came by the table very infrequently and we were always chasing her down for things. I think the kitchen aided in the slowness. I couldn't imagine if it was actually busy. All in all though the place was very good for what we ordered and the great views off the deck in back (see the photos I uploaded) made up for the lack of speedy service. read more

The food here is great. Drinks great. Service ok. Location spectacular!! BUT better get there while you can! This is a local gem in a small local community. Right on the water. Get there before sunset and drink, eat and watch the sun go down. I've been there a bunch of times and the crowds get bigger. It won't be long before everyone discovers this place. There's a beach right next door so head down for the day and party OIT the night. People look for the jersey shore experience in AC etc. this is the real deal especially when there is music. Ok for family's out on the dock but even better at the bar into the evening Get there before it goes commercial read more

Awful. I was serviced by Danielle who was just terrible and honestly the worst bartender I've ever interacted with. She completely lacked any semblance of decency, and had a total inability to positively engage with other bar patrons. She had no issues prioritizing and passing free drinks to her family. read more

We had to wait 45 min for a table due to the combo of beautiful clear sunny day, Father's Day and Sunday afternoon crush. Food was awesome. great buffalo sauce salad and Taco salad. You are sitting on the dock of the bay. Great view of Brooklyn, Staten Island, NYC, and Verrazano. Once seated service was fast and everything is clean. read more

First time here on Wednesday and my sis and I was impressed with the service, atmosphere, and most importantly the FOOD! It's a really chill place to appreciate the location; it being on the waterfront and the view of NYC. I ordered the fish tacos with fries but it originally comes with nacho chips and my sister had the cheese burger with fries. We shared buffalo wings and I tried the alcohol beverage called mermaid water. It was strong enough but not overpowering. read more

We came here for a Mom's night out. We planned on dinner then drinks at the bar. The hostess and wait staff were great in the restaurant area. Zesty was our waitress and she did a great job. After dinner we went to the bar but couldn't find a seat for one of the mom's who is disabled. So we found a table on the bar side and sat. We planned on continuing to buy drinks and hang out there where she was comfortable. The bouncer kept coming over to us telling us we HAD TO MOVE bc people who order food sit there. BUT it was 10:30 at night and there was NOT a single person waiting by the front entrance to be seated for dinner. I mentioned that my friend is on crutches and really just needed to sit and still we were told to leave. 2 more times on our way out of the bar area he told us to move. Both times we were standing trying to figure out if we should leave or stay. I don't know if we'll be back. The rules are at the bar are pretty ridiculous. We're a bunch of quiet moms in our 40's just looking to have a few drinks and listen to music. But the bouncers made it very difficult. It seemed very one sided bc there were drunk kids doing push ups on the other side of the bar and no one said a word to them. read more

This was my first visit here and I have to say it is a pretty nice spot especially if the weather is good . They had a cover band playing when we were there which a nice touch to the evening. We had the pleasure of being served by Jake himself the owners son. Very nice and very attentive. We all ordered our food and didn't wait too long for it. They have a pretty large selection of food for just about anyone . I was a little disappointed with my dish which was the hotdogs I wished they would have had that snap when you bit into it and for the slaw I wish it had a tad more flavor. Also I tried the pulled pork tacos which was decent but the pork was dry and needed a little kick. My husband enjoyed his Jakeabob burger. My daughter enjoyed her wings reminded me of wing dings. my brother in law really enjoyed the clams and shrimp in a garlic sauce . All in all we enjoyed our meal and OMG must try the Keylime pie . Heaven!! Also my daughters tried there ice cream spot right across the street which the both enjoyed. read more

I've been wanting to go to a tiki bar in the area and after doing research found this spot. Definitely the atmosphere I was looking for, right on the water, tropical drinks. We had dinner food was okay. The clams were awesome. The waitress spilled an entire glass of water on my friend and some on me. Surprisingly she didn't offer to comp us an appetizer or something which was strange to me. We asked for more bread for the clam juice and they charged us? I would expect them to alert us of the charge before bringing it. That was kind of annoying. Now, the bar... while the place was busy, there was ample staff working. I've never waited so long for a drink at a bar in my life. We got drinks before dinner and some of the wait staff looked right past us. If I didn't drive an hour to get there, I probably would have left. Kind of frustrating. After dinner we wanted to get corona buckets and waiting quite a long time as well. Once we finally got drinks and were clearly fine with two large buckets in front of us, then we were asked multiple times if we needed anything. No sir I'm fine with the 10 coronas in front of me. We knew how long it took to get drinks so we just did it all at once. Overall I'm glad I got to experience the atmosphere, but If you haven't been here, I would go in with pretty low expectations for service so you're not disappointed. read more

This place is good for a quick bite and has good bar-like food with a twist. I had the crab cake sandwich which was good. It had chunks of crab meat but also fell apart easily. The seating is very nice though overlooking the water. Good for a place to grab something quick to eat or sit at the bar. read more

Nice seaside location. Food and service were good. I look forward to going back the next time I'm on the East Coast. My son got the wings which were made not some frozen crap. I had the shrimp sandwich, which was good. But I had real food envy over the tuna sandwich, which looks amazing. read more

First time here, great atmosphere excellent drinks and a good time. Excited to find this place and look forward to coming back!

I'm so disappointed in this place. $31 for crabcake with spicy ramoulade where they forgot to bring the ramoulade. After a hassle I got some, but by no means was it worth the $$$ - it's their most expensive dish! Next time I went I ordered shrimp & pecan salad & they forgot the pecans! I asked for a credit & the forgot. It was a small $14 salad. Overall the food is ok, the service eh, but waaaay overpriced read more

Wait staff never showed up after 15 minutes of sitting. After giving our menus and plates back to the hostess (and owner) she didn't even realize what it must mean for someone to return unused plates... And said "thank you" thinking it was us being generous. We then explained to her that we were never served and didn't want to spend anymore time watching waiters walk past us giving others food, taking orders, and giving checks out. She didn't care, and has no reason to as long as they have a monopoly on the water front bar scene. read more

The food and atmosphere were perfect! Sat outside overlooking the water. The prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly.

Great outdoor bar if you want to be away from the crowd. The drinks are strong and they give you a lot of food for a low price. Love the views of NYC. read more

Went to Jakeabobs again last week, the food is awesome. Have been coming here for years. We have been there multiple times this year. The waitress couldn't be nicer. The views of the city so pretty. What a nice vibe this place has, no need to drive down the shore for a nice dinner. If there were more stars I would give them a 10. It's definitely worth the wait. read more

I stopped in because I heard that a small group was playing at the Tiki bar outside. I was a little early and decided to have an appetizer on the rear deck. Nice setting with a little breeze. I only had beer and some clams on the half shell. Service and my appetizer was good. I can't rate any other food there. I have to give a 4* rating because the tiki bar was very nice and run well. The bartenders took good care of the crowd. The surprising highlight was the small jazz band that was playing. It was a pleasant evening on the bay. read more

The fact that this place has bad reviews is surprising to me! My family and I have been coming here for years and were crushed to hear of its destruction with Sandy. When I found out that it was back up and running in its original location I immediately paid a visit with my mother. The staff was incredibly friendly, food was solid and atmosphere still intact to its pre sandy days. My only complaint is that the frozen margs were "meh" but that's easily forgettable when stacked alongside with the other pros. read more

Omg this is my new favorite place, I literally came here three times in one weekend. Jakeabobs used to be a restaurant that was a building, superstorm sandy destroyed it and now it is a pier with a bar, kitchen, and bathrooms that can all be taken apart. They have some regular tables and some picnic tables. It is beautiful to just sit out on the water, the drinks are good and the food is as well. I love the jakeabob salad, it's grilled chicken with bbq sauce and cheese, French fried onions, and I forget what else but it's amazing! Their clams are so good and so are their sandwiches. They don't have as much seafood as you would think a restaurant on the water would have but the have clams, shrimp, I think one kind of fish. It's really a great place to relax and hang out and Union beach has done a fabulous job of restoring itself, if you have never gone you are missing out! read more

Love love Jakeabob's Bay. The staff is super friendly and the food is super yummy. This is my favorite local restaurant and I am so happy they are reopened for the season.
