Don't bother, nice view but the staff is super rude. Not good for families at all. Go to the Seafarer instead.

After a hike on the Henry Hudson trail this past Friday, we decided to stop here to get a cool drink. So pleased with the service! We have gluten (and dairy) issues and were told they had a decent selection. My husband had the grilled chicken and watermelon salad (minus the feta) and my daughter had the oahaxa(sp?) I had the fish tacos (I'm the one with no allergies) everything was fantastic! I'm impressed by the fact that everything is prepared in basically a food truck! Our server was super (I wish I remembered her name), when I asked if the tortilla chips that came with my tacos were safe for my daughter to share she said she wasn't sure but went and checked (they are). We're definitely going to be back, I want to try the burgers! read more

Love the food, the staff, and location. I would say it is a little pricey, but you're paying for the atmosphere too- well worth it!! A great view of the sunset and the live bands who play are always good! Great place to just hang out and enjoy the warm weather! Highly recommend giving it a try! You won't be disappointed!! read more

Excellent service, phenomenal view, outstanding meal! We had Tito's Appletini and Tito's Mangotini - both perfect! Also thoroughly enjoyed clams casino, coastal shrimp wedge, Josies Big 3, Ahi Tuna (cooked to perfection), and chicken Parmesan on stick. Everything was delicious!!! Also, enjoyed listening to a first rate band playing in the Tiki bar area from the deck. Will definitely return read more

Went tonight for the first time. The service was great and so was the food. The atmosphere is awesome too. Only complaint were the bugs. These tiny, annoying little nats that kepts biting us. They were everywhere. Other then that loved the place! The crabcake platter was so good. read more

An example of classic summer dining. Prime location gives this place just enough fire power to bring a date or yourself or family to eat and enjoy. The view of Coney Island is well worth the trip. The salads are excellent while the atmosphere remains relaxin. Now for the wait staff.....nice but not "over the top"...good place. read more

Great place for a drink & some food. My wife & I stopped in a week after it re-opened. The double shot Margherita was perfect. We had a couple of apps that were really good. She had the shrimp quesedilla & I had the sesame seared tuna. Both apps were very good. We're so glad this place opened back up. There is also live music at the bar. Place gets packed on weekends. read more

Food is average and a little on the pricier side, but youre really paying for the view. They do have a nice bar area with a live band though. I will say their wings are great.. crispy, hot, and not too messy read more

Great place for a beer and fish n chips near the water without the hustle and bustle of red bank or asbury. Good service, tiki bar or dock seats. Cool! read more

We had such a nice time here today. Of course beautiful weather helps create the atmosphere too, but food was delicious and waitress was friendly! Can't get better than that! read more

Great atmosphere.WORST BARTENDERS Need to hire professionals

It's outdoor on the water ... that's the only thing it has going, unfortunately. The bartenders are hit or miss or just short staffed for a crowed summer weekend. The food? They try, but it's nothing to look forward to. I guess there were some there on Sunday, July 8 who were enjoying DJ and the 80's disco music being blasted in the bar area - not us. read more

Drinks are wartered down. We asked for drinks to be corrected and after spending 100.00 in food between 2 people and told they couldn't do this for us. Such a shame. read more

Awesome drinks, very expensive. Also very upset because closing time says 2am and they said last call at 11 with 20-30 people stil

I went out alone tonight because I didn't have any plans for the holiday weekend. I called to find out what time the band was starting and they told me 5:30, but it was actually 6:30. It takes courage to go out alone and I wanted to be comfortable so I got there a bit early to make sure I got a table. I ordered food and a drink and 5:30 came and went. My wattress was super nice. The band was scheduled for 6:30 so I ordered more food and a drink because I specifically didn't want to lose my table. I would have come later. Anyway, the blonde manager who looked and sounded like she smoked two packs a day kicked me out of my table claiming they had a two-hour max and never said anything about that. I wouldn't have gone there. My foot was recently stepped on by my horse so I could not take a chance of standing near the crowded bar. So here I am at home, alone, and angry AF and it's 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night on Labor Day weekend. I tried to say I would order more food and the bitchy manager wouldn't budge with her rules and mean attitude and kicked me out of my table. I hope someone ruins a fun night out for her in the near future so she can have a similar terrible experience like I had tonight. Major a-hole! read more

I've been to Jakeabob's many many times and I've never in my life been so disappointed and pissed off at this place. Now, i work in the restaurant business as a server and a bartender so i understand mistakes can happen. However, when a customer orders a regular mojito, you would expect said guest to receive a plain mojito, right? WRONG. I was given a COCONUT mojito- coconut which i am SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO. I waited patiently for 15 minutes for my server to come back so i could tell her i would like the regular mojito that i asked for because i didn't feel like taking a trip to the ER for an anaphylactic reaction. So i get my mojito, mostly ice but whatever, it was fine. Then we get the check. Our server CHARGED ME FOR THE COCONUT MOJITO THAT COULD HAVE LITERALLY KILLED ME. So i asked her if this was a mistake and if this was the same pricing as the regular mojito. Mind you, i ordered a mojito previously at the bar for about $9. She lied and said the regular mojito and coconut mojito were the same price at $11. I didn't want to argue because like i said, i also work in this industry. So we paid our check and left. If you're looking for a place that tries to kill you then charge you for it, Jakeabobs is the place for you. read more

Great atmosphere, amazing food and one of the few restaurants that carry hi-c fruit punch!! The burgers are of great quality, the food is always fresh and it's honestly a steal for what you pay. read more

Started out okay, but my last two trips here were a disaster. Both times seated out on "pier", so maybe something gets lost between there and kitchen (which is a trailer, btw)? Service was slooooowww as molasses. After waiting 10 minutes for a server (there were maybe three or four other occupied tables), I actually went to bar and got our drinks to go. When I remarked to bartender that service was tardy, she barely shrugged a shoulder, saying only " Someone called out sick". Yeah, but I clearly saw at least three servers in area; one hanging out with hostess; one waiting by kitchen window for an order. After almost 20 minutes we got a waitress and put orders in, and were asked if we wanted apps brought out first. We said yes. Another 15 minutes go by and here comes EVERYTHING: apps and entrees. Got shrimp that had iodine smell and salty taste; chicken entrees were stringy and cold in middle. Pitcher of sangria had the slightest hint of alcohol in it. Face it, the big draw at this place is the location right on water. Food and drink quality is mediocre at best now. Someone needs to start paying attention to what is going on here or it will be out of business again before they know it. read more

Had the opportunity to pay a visit here last Sunday and had such a lovely experience. Although the food was unremarkable (sorry, but in all honesty...) it was reasonably priced. However, the service was excellent (our server, Irene, although SUPER busy was just as pleasant, helpful and professional as could be!), the drinks were cold and the view was delightful! It felt like being on vacation for a few hours! Was glad to have stopped by and will do so again. read more

The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the ambiance is terrific. The food however is horrible.

Over price restaurant food on the bay. Service was just ok. Then tired there for the night life and it was just a crowd of bro's and their parents. Wasn't a let's try this place again experience. read more

Stopped by the other night for a drink and some appetizers with a girlfriend . My last visit 2 years ago was very disappointing and I said I would not return. To my surprise the food this time around was better but not great. This is not a fine dining restaurant so I don't believe it is fair to go into this experience with high expectations. This is a very relaxing, small town shore venue with moderately priced apps and drinks. We had shrimp and nachos with some of the specialty cocktails from the menu. read more

The food was really good. The waitress was wonderful. Due to Covid it's only outdoor dining. Which they have a really nice set up with A huge tent with a lot of lights. The place is good definitely go there again cons if they sit you on the sidewalk next to a wall it's very dark you might have to eat with your flashlight on your phone. Trust me We sat there. read more

Very disappointed with the shrimp quesadilla, the cheese was not melted and it was served cold. When mentioned to the waitress she did nothing about it. read more

This is such a cool bar in a great location. Awesome views and not too busy. Although it would seem busy because for some reason whoever owns this place chooses not to employ enough bar staff to serve the volume of clientel. I have been here on two weekend afternoons and on both occasions every customer in the venue was having to wait 15+ minutes for each drink order. The poor bartender who was excellent, was running around everywhere having to serve 15+ table drinks orders and 50+ customers. Message to the owner: Spend 1 wage for an extra bartender and you will earn a lot more money from customers wanting to spend. You do not need 20+ glass collectors! Then this 3 out 5 becomes a 5. read more

I unfortunately can't comment on the quality of the food here. The location seems great, right on a deck overlooking the bay. A nice breeze was blowing and one could see how this place has it made....If they can just figure out their service. I was seated promptly and then deserted. 15 minutes and not even an ice water. If it took that long just for a server to find me, I can't imagine waiting for food and drinks. The food did look appetizing and the beer cold but until they get on their service they won't realize their potential. Two stars for what could be. read more

I never review but i felt this needed a review 3 bartenders not one looked up i wanted drinks they paid no attention to us. Once we got there attention and ordered our food came took me 5 minutes to get there attention to get plates and place setting. We ordered tostedos and clams and shrimp they should be embarrassed to serve us what they did i am not a complainer i just want what i pay for 3 drinks 2 apps $65 WITHOUT TIP....So we left and went to maloneys in matawan and let me tell you outstanding great food, good portions great service.I dine out 3 times a week and was never so disappointed you will thank me its a rip offffff. This is my opinion and let me tell you its right on the money read more

Tried to visit this evening and it wasn't terribly busy. We were seated by the back and were sitting for 15 minutes and multiple servers walked by us and no one said a single word to us. When we finally left, we brought everything back to the hostess stand and tried to explain why we were leaving and one woman who was at the stand just said "thanks" while another just stared at me. Was pretty upset that no one seemed to care because I was excited to finally go to Jakeabobs. read more

Simply put, one of the best places on the jersey shore! Always great food and great time at Jake's. Live music just about every day. I ate the Buffalo shrimp and fish tacos were perfect. Tuesday night, stopped in for the first time with my Queen to celebrate a beautiful day and the last day of spring. We sat out on the pier and enjoyed the post sunset evening together. We shared the Ahi tuna nachos and the Drunken Shrimp and clams as well as a Long island Iced Tea and a Rum bucket. Both drinks were very good and the food was great. Large portions and tasty snacks, combined with delicious drinks and a wonderfully romantic view, overall a great evening. Our server was Amanda and she was very attentive and offered great suggestions. We will definitely be back. Live Music on the way out in the bar area, hopefully there's karaoke at some point. A special night with my Queen. read more

Great little place right on the water on Raritan Bay in Union Beach. Beautiful views of Manhattan, the Verezanno Bridge, even Brooklyn if it's clear. When the weather is nice, the tables are on a pier right over the water-very cool. They just opened a tiki bar and will have live music most nights, great place to hang out on a summer night. We hadn't been there in awhile and the menus have changed........my favorite combo "peel & sqeal" (ribs & shrimp) is no longer offered. However, there is an extensive menu, lots of seafood, steak, chicken, pasta. Gigi's famous ribs are the best-very tender covered with a sweet sauce that has a kick. We also got a special, a scallop & crabmeat scampi over pasta that was excellent. I've gotten steak here in the past and has been great. Entrees do come with salads-most are priced between $17-$25. Sangria is big here, several people had pitchers on their tables-will try it next time. Desserts are very good, I recomend the chocolate lava cake. The downside of eating outside are the bugs-as the sun went down, tiny little bugs were everywhere and very annoying. The cintronella candles on the tables don't stay lit with the wind............maybe tiki torches along the railings might help. Nice, casual place right on the water with very good food. read more

Terrible service. Was not even that busy. Gave half of our tables food to another table. Two in my party never got there food. Styrofoam in our potato salad. We were originally very happy to see jakeabob's come back, we were sadly mistaken! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They did give us a gift card for the god awful experience I think we will give it as a gift to a homeless person! read more

First visit of the 2019 season. New menus are nice with a few great additions. Both the piggy chips and guacamole were great appetizers, but the chicken parm lollipops were sorely missed. We went to Jakeabob's when we closed on our house in UB back before the storm. It was a disappointment. The view was great though so as they say, location, location, LOCATION! We stuck to going there every once in a while but ONLY in the summer and if we were in the mood for the party, booze it up atmosphere. Stuck to the beers because THOSE you can't water down. I was not a fan of this place. Fast forward to the long awaited, triumphant return - I heard great things about the soft opening, most nights the place is pretty full AND they seem to be doing okay at lunch too so I decided to give it another try. We went for lunch and another time for dinner. Cons 1) Price versus QUALITY and Quantity - Too expensive for the quality of the food and drink you get there. I wouldn't mind paying twice as much if the food was warranted it. It wasn't. 2) Service - Oh my God, the service SUCKED. 15 mnts for a DRINK. At lunch. With a nearly empty place. Our servers both times disappeared for long blocks of time. 3) -Customer- Service - When we were told they had no little coronas for a bucket we were willing to pay for a bucket of large coronas. The Owner's response (according to our server)? We don't do that. Thanks for that. 4) Salty - everything we had was salty... except the salad. 5) The mixed drinks. For 12 dollars I hope for at least a LITTLE booze. My drink tasted like flat coke. I'll let you try and guess what the booze was in it. I sure couldn't figure it out and I ordered it. 6) Staff was running back and forth across the street. Someone's gonna get hurt. 7) The bathrooms ... are right by the kitchen... oh wait, you could go around the corner and use their porta potty instead! Pros 1) Location, Location, LOCATION - Fantastic view ... It's really the ONLY reason Jakeabob's has remained. 2) The remodel is beautiful. 3) Live music is a staple there. Sigh. I really wish the owner wanted more than just money. I wish she would stop capitalizing on nostalgia and location and really take the time, energy and LOVE it takes to make Jakeabob's everything delusional people THINK it is. I hope she reads these reviews and takes them to heart. Trust me when I tell you, I'm not willing to keep wasting my money to try other things I may or may not like. The view isn't worth it to me. It's sad because if she just got REALLY GOOD FOOD she could really, really be something special. I feel like all the good reviews are friends of the owner. read more
