Dave (owner) came over for a consultation on deck repair. He was forthcoming and personable, told…read moreme the deck was fine just needed replacing the top rails. While here I mentioned we've always wanted a solid roof on our patio cover, which runs the entire width of our south-facing backyard. We decided to go with his recommendation of translucent polycarbonate panels. His crew replaced all damaged wood, added reinforced bracing and painted the entire structure. Couldn't be happier with the results. Highly recommended!

I originally called Fraser Decks to see if they could fix an old, dilapidated gazebo in my…read morebackyard. I spoke to the owner, Dave, on the phone and sent him some pics of my gazebo issue. The price he quoted me on the phone was too high for my budget, but he admitted he wouldn't pay that much to fix the gazebo either. He then flipped the script and gave me the name and number of the handyman that HE uses when he needs one. His honesty and straight forwardness earns him a 5 star rating and future consideration for any decks or patios I might decide to build. And you may ask, who was this magic handyman that I ended up using? Well, Smokin' Joe doesn't advertise, and you won't find him on Yelp (I promised I wouldn't start a Yelp page for him), his work comes from personal recommendations from his clients, and he's got enough to keep him busy till retirement. So, thanks Dave, your friend Joe is the real deal, just like you.

Contacted Peak Builders regarding a water leak that I assumed was coming from the roof. Eli came…read moreout and provided me with a prompt estimate for both the remediation and the external repairs on the roof. Price was very reasonable. Crew came out and did the remediation on the interior and then on closer inspection of the outside realized it was not the roof, but a significant crack in the stucco that was the source of the water. Peak Builders did not miss a beat. They brought in a stucco crew who cleared out the old stucco around the crack, discovering that my house did not have proper water protection behind the original stucco, so repairing this was not a small job. _Yet without my asking Peak Builders honored the original price quote for the roof_. This was huge. They then took on the interior work. looks as good as new and they always cleaned up after their work. I will definitely use Peak Builders again.

My experience with Peak Builders and their warranty:…read more This review covers my experience in hiring PB to fix a leak at our house (cost $20K+). The leak was via a wall or where the wall met slab, buried beneath an elevation. After purchasing the house, we discovered several leaks in different areas of the house. The leak PB was hired to fix was the only one that was found in a particular area/wall, isolated from other leaks. After completing the fix, the house was sold. Upon heavy rains starting again in San Diego, the leak was found to still be present by the buyers. This review is based on inspection reports and insurance claims, an engineering report, and documented responses of PB to the new buyers. I removed the first review owing to PB bringing up potential for a defamation lawsuit, so am keeping this one based solely on documented facts (inspections, insurance claim, documented response of PB to new buyers). Many of these are resulting from a very expensive settlement from us to the new buyers after PB declined to accept their responsibility to the failure of their fix and the related warranty, thus we have paid for the leak to be addressed a second time. Note that the lawsuit covered this leak, as well as other issues unrelated to what PB were hired to address. Note also that an engineering report of the house that we paid for separately from PB included input on how to fix the leak, which was more dramatic than what PB suggested. Based on oral conversations with PB at the time, we believed the scoped work was undertaken to address the leak, and that the warranty covered the leak being fixed. After we discovered the leak, the area was inspected by other contractors, as well as an engineer, and was part of an insurance claim. PB was hired to fix the leak. As licensed experts, PB determined the appropriate steps and scope of work. This was performed over many weeks, digging up the side of the house, exposing the wall and corner that the leak was observed from inside the house, waterproofing and treating the wall. The contract with PB detailed the intended scope of work. After the leak was re-discovered, and through recent conversations with PB, they are claiming they were not hired to fix the leak, but instead to complete only the details scoped in the contract, and that they are not responsible for the leak. Their claim (IMO) is that they did complete the scoped work and the warranty does not cover the leak, only the work that they performed, and that they are not responsible for the leak. Their interpretation, if accurate, is that we hired them to perform work unrelated to the leak. My recommendation for others that intend to hire PB is to ensure that the contract and scope of work point directly to why the work is being undertaken (e.g. fix a leak), and that it is stated within the contract that the work and cost, and the warranty, cover the GOAL of the work, not just details of the work they will perform. Otherwise, it leaves them an out to claim that they did the work that was scoped, and that that work was not necessarily done to address an issue, with the warranty not covering the issue.
