Overall, we had a very positive experience with Advanced Addtions and the primary contractor, Philly. Philly demoed and remodeled 2 bathrooms in our home on Mt. Soledad in Pacific Beach. The bathrooms turned out beautifully and we are thrilled with the results (see attached photos). Philly did most of the work including demoing, installation of cabinets and counters, plumbing, electrical, tile work, and installation of skylights and windows. For some specialized tasks Philly enlisted a sub-contractor who had more expertise for the job required (e.g. hot mopping the shower stalls). We appreciated Philly's honesty and straightforward communication throughout the project. Philly was always clear about what was needed, what was included, and what we as the homeowners were required to purchase ourselves (e.g., fixtures such as shower hardware, toilets, faucets, tile, some supplies, etc...). He was not one who rushed through the project but took his time and made sure that the work was done properly and to code. The project took a little longer than expected but in our experience, the extra time reflects his commitment to quality rather than a lack of productivity. We would recommend this contractor to anyone who is considering undertaking a similar remodel project. read more

We would put a 100 starts if we could. We worked with Philly from Advance Additions to be our contractor in 2022 for our parent's home that has not been touched with any kind of renovations for close to 50 years. We renovated our kitchen, 3 bathrooms, converted a family room to bedroom/office, changed all our windows and doors, repaved a walk way, and painted the house. Initially quoted as a 3-4 month job, but since my parents didn't want to leave the house the quote changed to 5 - 6 months. Philly was very accommodating to work around them by doing multiple demos and completing parts of the renovation to allow them to stay. Philly was very kind and patient with my parents even as they looked over his back during the job. Philly's work ethic, attention to detail, craftmanship is second to none. We are so happy with the final results and have already recommended him to our friends and family! read more

Call him! Hire him! Do it now! Now let me tell you why. My family and I were in need of extending our home and adding a bathroom. I am the type that will spend weeks or months researching and planning before a big purchase. I did a thorough bid process and met with several contractors. Most were friendly and probably would have done okay work, but Philly was direct and immediately shared ideas and gave feedback on our vision. An invaluable factor for us was that Philly and his son do almost everything and he only subs a few of the trades. That's why we hired him. I have small children and I am a private person, so I didn't want a revolving door of strangers in my home. Consequently, his pricing is very competitive. Throughout the project, Philly openly communicated and worked almost everyday until completion. He handles the plans, permits, and inspections all the way through the final inspection. All of this occurred during the COVID pandemic and he wore a mask and was thoughtful when interacting with my family. He made it a point to keep an extra clean job site for the safety of my children. I will be calling Philly at Advanced Additions the next time I need work done in my home and you should too. read more

A family member recommended Advanced Additions to me for my bathroom addition. The owner is Philly Gomez who is a licensed contractor. Philly is a true professional who will not cut corners like most other contractors I have dealt with who just want to do the minimum required, get paid, and get out. Not Philly, who even makes repairs to existing work in order to make everything right for the project. Philly brings 25 years of construction experience. It is impressive how he can do the work of two people by himself. The best part about Philly is the relationship he builds with his customers. He is truly caring, honest, hardworking, and has reasonable rates. You won't find anyone like Philly very often in the construction trade. I plan to hire him again and again for all my home improvements. read more

We were having issues with our tankless water and nowhere to put a regular water heater... Advanced Additions came out with a high-quality solution and a PERFECT water heater shed! It rained after I took the pictures and the inside was water proof and bone-dry. read more

Advanced Additions is second to none when it comes to quality work and competitive pricing. Philly does about 95% of the work himself; he is clean and fast, yet keeps to his perfectionist attribute. I was there when a building inspector was reviewing his work, and the inspector's words were, "Wow, this looks really good". He does everything from soup to nuts: framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, cabinets, tiling and he even installs appliances! Philly added an extra bedroom and bath that doesn't look like an add-on. He also converted a laundry room into an extra bathroom and you couldn't tell it was a laundry room. If you're looking to add on or renovate an existing room, you don't want to go with anyone else until you give him a call for an estimate. read more

If you are looking for a company who will do any spectacular remodel job you are want, you need to hire Philly Gomes and his company, Advanced Additions. We have had SEVERAL remodeling jobs completed by Philly and we have never ending compliments on our home. He has added a whole wing to our house, which included enlarging our kitchen, adding a bedroom, and a large upstairs game room with several bathrooms. You would never think it was a remodel, because it just blends in with the house. He recently completed an upstairs remodel, which is a beautiful addition. I can't say enough about how wonderful the character and creativity Philly has. He pays attention to all details and is a perfectionist! read more

I couldn't be happier with Advanced Additions work on my house. First of all, Philly always shows up on time and is ready to go to work. Philly would give me a written estimate that was always a good fair price and he has always stayed within the estimate (every other contractor I have worked with always went over the estimate!!) He always kept me up to date of the progress of the work and the estimated time frame. Philly always treated my house like it were his own house. He would take every precaution to cover all areas that he worked on so there was NEVER drops of paint or stain on the ground after the work was done. No nicks or scratches around the work area!! Doing some project around my home I realize how tough it is to not make a mess, and Philly never did! He always left my house and whatever area he was working on cleaner than what it was when he got there. The workmanship as you can see from the pictures above are second to none! I have had nothing but compliments on the work that Philly did around the house and how perfect the work looked. Philly always took the time to make everything look right, work right, and last a long time. He did a lot of research for me to make sure i got the right parts for the job to make sure that the project was done right. I couldn't be happier!! I'm looking forward to the next project! read more

I am a happy repeat client for Philly, owner of Advanced Additions. Philly totally renovated my kitchen and d.r., as well as my guest bathroom. He is extremely practical at determining the logistics of running a job and guiding his customer to select quality materials and layout. I wanted to create an open light-filled space in the kitchen, with improved circulation for better access to each major appliance. He advised raising the kitchen ceiling, moving the location of the range, refrigerator, and oven, and reconfiguring the island. Now everything is so easy to access, with no one bumping into each other as we prepare our meals or do dishes. Philly also helped me select flooring and cabinetry materials which truly enhance the beauty and function of the kitchen and bath. read more

Philly Gomez from Advanced Additions does a lot of work in my neighborhood on Mt. Soledad in Pacific Beach. He is probably best known for his work remodeling one particular iconic house in the area. All the neighbors know of this house because it is located on one of the main roads through the area and we've all watched how Philly transformed an old 60's style track house into a beautiful stylish contemporary home. What caught a lot of our eyes was the workmanship and attention to detail in this remodel. I still drive by this house and frequently see people taking pictures of it! Although my contractor needs were relatively small compared to many of Philly's jobs in the neighborhood he was open to taking on the work and at a very affordable price. The first part of the job was to replace a ~50-year-old rusting and deteriorating cast iron standpipe in my laundry room. The old pipe was replaced with PVC and a cleanout plug was added. Philly also installed a center-drain washing machine outlet box for the water valves and the washer output, moved some electrical outlets, and finished off the job by patching the drywall. The plumbing upgrades are great and I'm thrilled to now have a laundry room that is neat, clean, and tidy. The second part of the job was the removal of an old water tank and installation of a tankless condensing water heater. This job was somewhat involved because the new heater was installed in the interior of our house and involved venting through our roof, adjustments to the framing for the gas lines, and plumbing for the gas and tankless condensate output. Philly did an expert job and we are very happy with the new space created by removal of the old water tank and our significantly reduced gas bills. I can't say enough good things about Philly. He is the consummate professional. He is skilled and knowledgeable but does not hesitate to consult other experts if he has any questions. He is able to handle big whole house remodels and smaller jobs like my laundry room upgrade. His prices are great and he works hard. Don't be surprised if you notice Philly running between his work truck and your house! He says that it is the way he gets in a bit of a workout and wastes less time. Philly does NOT cut corners. We have had other experiences with contractors where the main goal was to get the job done in the least amount of time so as to maximize their profits. This is the opposite of the way that Philly conducts business. Philly stands by his work and does the job the correct way even if it may take longer or cut into this profit margin. Finally, I want to note that Philly is extremely personable and pleasant to be around. You will enjoy having him working in your home. read more

Advanced Additions - Tankless water heater installed in laundry room - General Contractors Near Me

When we decided to do some work on our house-we turned to Yelp. We came across Advanced Addition and made an appointment for an estimate. Philly, the owner, came out and gave us an estimate. We had received a few estimates from other contractors but we decided to go with Advanced Additions because we felt Philly would be able to bring our vision to reality within our budget. He listened to our ideas and based on his 20 plus years in the business was able to provide us feedback and find ways to make it work. He also talked us through decision points that we had initial thoughts on that we would have regretted had we not been provided Philly's insight. We like that he took our family and our daily routine in consideration when doing work around the house. He minimized the disruption that construction brings and was very mindful of our kids and dog. He kept the work site as clean and safe as he possibly could. He does the majority of the work himself and his craftmanship is impeccable! He takes pride in the work he does and it shows! We are extremely glad we choose Philly. He met and exceeded all our expectations. He's a professional, trustworthy, will tell you his honest opinion, an ease to work with and overall a good guy. Although we are done with this original project, we have plans to work with him again...home projects are never ending and will turn to Philly when we are ready to move to the next Project. Pictures will be forthcoming when our DIY part of the Project is complete! read more

Philly added a bedroom and extended our family room . All I can say is he's awesome ! A perfectionist and he delivers quality craftsmanship . Like some reviewers mentioned , he does most of the work himself - because he likes to make sure the work is done right . He's also the only person that came out again and again to give me a quote and answered all my questions . All the others don't care to entertain and only gives a quote over the phone . Philly's quote is also within my budget . He also goes above and beyond - doing some work he didn't ask to be paid . He truly is an honest guy and easy to work with . I recommend him 100 %! read more

We used Advanced Additions to remodel our house last year. Our remodel was extensive and included removing several large load bearing walls for an open concept living area, redoing electrical to add additional lighting/fans, and adding additional windows and sliding doors in several rooms of our house to make the house brighter. Philly is extremely knowledgeable about construction and after receiving several bids, we felt the most comfortable hiring Philly. Philly provided us detailed written bids and always stuck to the bid. He is licensed and insured. While working in our house, Philly taped off the construction zones and cleaned up the dust/debris at the end of each day. Philly is a perfectionist and pays extreme attention to detail. We are happy with each phase of our remodel and have no complaints. This year, we also hired Philly to install a patio cover in our backyard. Next year, we plan on hiring Philly to redo a bathroom. I highly recommend Philly for your small or large remodel projects. You won't be disappointed. read more
