I dropped off my computer and it was ready to go in one week. I could not be more satisfied with the service, and the way my laptop operated the same day I picked it up. I will be back for my future computer needs.

The diagnosis was simply that a "power chip" was damaged, and they recommended replacing the entire motherboard for about $690 because they don't do chip-level repairs. They also charged me for the diagnostic ~$100, even though their website advertises a free diagnostic. The laptop still smells strongly of coffee, which also made me question whether it was actually cleaned or how thorough the cleaning was. Overall, the turnaround was longer than promised, communication required follow-up, and the diagnosis was too vague to give me confidence in spending nearly $700 on a motherboard replacement.

He walked me through what had happened, explained exactly what he was doing to fix it, and answered every question I had without rushing it. Dario saved me a lot of money and a lot of stress. On top of all that, he even mentioned that if he wasn't able to get it fixed, they would refund me out of good faith. I was asked if I wanted expedited service and of course I said "yes" to the charge of $99 since I needed it turned around fast. On Friday I called to find out the status and was told that it needed to be "opened" and if I approved (another charge) with no commitment as to when it would be fixed. Saturday was the tech's day off and they are not open on Sunday so no apparent rush to fix it. On Monday I was asked if I needed the data. I had originally said "no" because I had my data backed up on Carbonite. I asked about the Apps that I had and the tech said they would be wiped as well so I decided to save the data and apps. This was a $199 charge to "determine if the data was salvageable" by testing the SSD. I was then called and told that yes, the SSD was salvageable and there would be a $599 charge to recover it. Each step was a dagger because I needed my computer and the data/apps so I approved the charges. I finally got my computer back on Monday afternoon with a $1,600 bill feeling like I should have just bought a new computer and put up with reinstalling my apps. I got the computer home, hooked into my system and it worked fine. The next morning it was dead again. I hooked it up to a spare charger (bypassing the powered hub) and the computer was back to life. The entire problem was my hub charger! At no time was I advised that a charger might have been the problem and was instead overcharged for work that wasn't needed (probably not even opened to get to the SSD that I was bill around $800 for testing and recovery.) THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF! I'm thinking of reporting them to the BBB. Update on 08/14/26: Eddy from ClickAway reached out to explain the services that were performed on my laptop. After his explanation I am now better informed of the work and charges and better appreciate what was needed to get it restored to working order. I updated my original rating based on an agreement to reduce the price of data restoration. I am looking forward to a continued relationship with ClickAway.

Some background: over a decade ago, I spent a several years…read morerepairing Macs at the Genius Bar, before moving onto other roles within the company (and eventually after many years leaving). Flash forward to now: my work MacBook Pro suddenly completely dead. No power, not charging, and all USB-C ports showing only drawing 5v. I did my own work down, attempting to isolate to bare minimum components in order to get it to boot. I've worked on enough of these machines to suspect liquid damage even though there hadn't been any spills or anything, and I pulled the logic board and did a close visual inspection looking for blown MOSFETs or any real sign of dried liquid. Found nothing, and I was a little disappointed that my old skills were failing me. Critically, I needed data on the machine that had not yet been backed up. (Dumb.) Unlike back in the day, there's no removable flash storage chip that you can mount in an enclosure and get back on data. In fact, the data itself is now encrypted against the security chip on the machine, so really the only option is to get the machine booting again, or spend $2000-$5000 on forensic data recovery (and even then with the encryption, I wasn't confident if that was a viable option anymore). I knew that if I brought the machine to Apple, they would try very few things to get the machine up and booting with my data intact before replacing components, and thus taking my data with it. I also knew I was probably looking at $1500-$1800 in logic board part cost. I bring it to Alex and crew at MacFixed. Alex called me within 24h and filled me in on his initial diagnosis, which told me that I wasn't missing anything silly and that the issue was way deeper than anything I could address. Approved the repair and he went to work. Pricing was an incredibly good deal, somebody this skilled deserves to be paid for their time, and with the amount of time debugging that this kind of issue would require, I got out the door for $550 which is an absolute steal. I mentioned the alternative repair options and their prices, and hopefully that puts that cost in perspective. Well, Alex solved it, after spending an entire weekend on the thing. He told me he eventually noticed something just slightly off on a surface mount component's pad, just a slight shift in coloring, and desoldered it on speculation to finally find the issue. Some truly microscopic amount of liquid managed to wedge itself under the chip and short out the entire machine. He replaced the chip, revived my machine, and even maintained a backup for me while I went home to get a second copy for redundancy created. He said he saved the chip to show me, and when I picked up my machine I couldn't believe how small it truly was. Unbelievable. Attaching photos to this review. I'll come to ya'll again in a heartbeat and sharing positive word of mouth every chance I get. Thank you again guys.
