This place was nothing short of awesome! I had the ginger pancakes...god, I will dream of them later. So amazing. I stuffed myself, and paid for it later when bike riding, but so worth it, I would do it again. My wife had the eggs benedict which she found delicious. It was a chilly morning, but they had a heated and covered patio which was really nice. The service was outstanding! Our waitress' name was Wendy. Let me tell you she hustled! Went here for breakfast this morning. I got the southwest eggs Benedict. The food was a bit on the cool side, not super hot, but it was still tasty. The portions are decent if a little on the skimpy side with the country potatoes. We got seated right away even though we were told it would be a 15 minute wait. I can't remember a time I've been there and haven't run into a friend. Like I've mentioned before a line at the door at a breakfast place is a good sign. Jailhouse Cafe is the best breakfast place in Moab. Better than the Diner or Love Muffin (well, probably because it's a sit down breakfast place). The plates are full, the dishes are fresh, and the bacon is thick. My only complaint is that they serve home fries as opposed to hash browns, but that's more of a societal downfall because home fries can be made in bigger batches and easier to serve to the masses....oh well! I've been eating here on occasional Moab visits for years. Like maybe 10 or so. The Jailhouse Cafe has consistently provided excellent food and service. Yes, the wait can be long, but this is a tourist town without a ton of great breakfast options. Everything I've tried is yummy. I particularly recommend the ginger pancakes, the coffee, and the eggs benedict. My eggs have always been cooked perfectly to order, and they are accommodating about requests like "Can I have a side pancake instead of toast?" Side pancakes are awesome. Oh, and the bacon! Stumbled upon this place while looking for breakfast options in Moab and was very happy with the results. They serve the usual breakfast fare (done very well) for the unadventurous, but hey, if you are in Moab, you should try a few unique takes on otherwise common items, like ginger pancakes, or the lingonberry pancakes (which are almost a crepe). If you are really adventurous, the hot sauce (made custom for the restaurant) adds a habenero kick to any of the egg and meat dishes (and is a good souvenir purchase at 4 bucks for a bottle). The dining environment is very pleasant, outdoors under a permanent tent structure, and the history of the location (actually being the town's jail over 100 years ago) is kinda neat. No take out on Sundays. Yeah, I get that you're busy. But there are legitimate reasons a person may not be able to wait and then sit in the restaurant to eat. Wow. Sure glad this place came up on yelp since it's sign is partially hidden from view by a tree. Food was excellent, not your average breakfast place, a little more upscale. They ONLY do breakfast and they do it with style. Their building has been around since the late 1800's and it was the court house at one time and they had a spot for prisoners hence the Jailhouse name. Okay, I've only been here twice so take it or leave it. Both times I had the Eggs Benedict. The sauce is supposed to be kind of spicy southwest-ish and I remember that is was, the first time. Today not so much. Comes with potatoes that looked and tasted good, except that they were really underdone. The server was nice and did take care of it with a discount so no harm no foul IMO. My eyes were bigger than my stomach anyway so I really didn't need the potatoes. The Boyfriend's tomato, pesto, and mozzarella omelet looked great though, so will likely visit again but try something else next time. That said, the service is quick and friendly, the coffee is superb (we had what tasted distinctly like Blue Krishna that day), and the food is cooked well and tasted great! I would absolutely return, pay the high cost for breakfast, and sip my coffee. Hint: they told every patron who approached that the wait would be "twenty minutes" but I didn't see anyone wait more than 7-10. Not that impressed by this place. We were staying in Arches NP and needed a good breakfast. We paid almost $30 for a kids combo breakfast and two pancake breakfasts for my husband and I, which I feel is overpriced for the basic quality of the food. Also, they didn't have breakfast staples on the menu like biscuits and gravy or hashbrowns. For a place that just does breakfast, I would think they would have more to offer. They did have a terrific cup of coffee and good service with several indoor and outdoor seating options. Clean restrooms (with a changing table in the women's). Later in our trip we tried another diner down the street and paid less for better food, bigger portions, and more options, so you might try elsewhere if you're wanting a big, basic breakfast for less money. read more

My party came here early in the morning on the sunday and over all it was a really nice breakfast. It was very quiet (we must have come before the rush) we sat outside and there is a really cute small garden in the outdoor area. I split the ginger pancakes and an eggs benedict. the ginger pancakes were very subtle and not to overwhelming. The apple spread was also really wonderful. The eggs benedict was rather unique and different than others that I have had. That also was really yummy. Overall my only complaint was that it was rather overpriced, but Moab is a very tourist town so it is not to shocking. read more
