This is a great place for fresh Mediterranean fast food that you can try their creations or create your own. Set up similar to chipotle's where you choose a base, protein and toppings or go with one of their pre-determined ones. I had smoked harissa chicken and created my own bowl. The chicken was flavorful, as were all the sides and toppings. Loved their hummus and tzatziki. Great healthy option to fast food. The space was clean and the waitstaff were helpful. read more

As with the previous reviews, the falafel was delicious. I had a yummy chicken shawarma and was able to make substitutions. All the food my friends and I ordered was fresh, excellent & reasonably priced, except for the smoothie which my friend said was way too sweet. On a mild summer day they had the air conditioning on so high that even with a sweater on I was shivering. Exceptionally clean throughout; bathrooms are modern & well maintained. read more

I recently ordered the chicken pita shawarma for me and my husband. The chicken was bulky and super dry, and covered in the dressing as if trying to masque the dehydrated protein. I was thinking that it would be sliced from a spit. Like the lamb you would get in a Gyro. It really was a sloppy mess and had way too many pickles that overpowered the whole thing. read more

Went here for lunch. I had the chicken shawarma bowl and my wife had the lamb bowl. Both were flavorful. Neither was particularly spicy. The service was good. We were in and out in 30 minutes. The restaurant, and the bathroom were clean. I docked one star because every single beverage was a sugar bomb. No diet drinks, no iced tea. read more

Never tried the mall location but wanted to. Happy to try the new Falmouth location. You must turn into the shopping center where Ocean State and Planet Fitness are (at the light). The first left is for the gas station and car wash, go to the stop sign then turn left. Lots of fresh options. We made our bowls though they have lots of premade options for you as well. There is a kiosk you can order from when you walk in but if you are like me, I look to look at the ingredients and add them. They were super helpful describing some of the tomato based dips I wasn't familiar with and offered me a sample of a picked turnip which was salty but yummy. To end we split some baklava. It was chocolate I believe or hazelnut maybe (couldn't tell) but it was incredible. My custom bowl had no rice: arugula, gyro meat, tzatziki, red pepper feta type dip, raw and pickled onions, cukes, pickled turnips, feta cheese, parsley and two dressings/sauces to top: lemon & olive oil and white garlic. Will definitely eat here again. They also have fries that they can add toppings to as well. read more

Stopped by today around lunch and it was surprisingly empty. We got build your own bowls- which I love doing. Got mine with braised lamb. Everything was tasty and great variety of toppings. Definitely bang for your buck, I couldn't finish my bowl. Service was friendly and quick, we ate outdoors even though it was sprinkling cause was was just a bit too chilly inside for us. There were people dining inside. Their drink line up is unique, and I love they have the nutrition because as interesting as I would have had to enjoy them, they would all be too sweet for me. read more

**Note that this is likely a temporary 3-star rating. I've been to their location at the Maine Mall and it was a much smoother experience.** The lines were long, constantly so. We were there from 5:30 to 7:30 for book club and the line ranged from 6 to as many as 20 people at times. The staff at the counter were lost when the head chef (or line supervisor?) wasn't right there keeping them focused and on track. There were a few catering orders that took him away a couple of times, and although he genuinely apologized for the disruption that caused, it was clear to me that he is the reason they are getting correct orders down the line and are able to keep the long lines moving. Ambience: this is cafeteria style, with bright lighting, set up well for take out but not dine in. We tried to hold book club there - 5 ladies around a 6-person high top - and we couldn't hear one another the ambient noise was so loud, and no other background noise, like music. The environment was a bit chaotic with children in their PJs (one who was laying on the table next to us), long lines, and the constant in and out of customers. Parking was also chaotic with the nearby construction taking up a lot of the parking spaces and narrow lanes that made it difficult to have an SUV and a big pickup truck pass one another without risk of collision. In the end I ended up parking quite aways away, near Planet Fitness. Lastly, it is very confusing on how to enter the area where Jaffa is from the main road. They've put up some signage, and hopefully it will be more streamlined one the nearby construction is completed, but just added to the chaos. Food: food was good and reasonably priced, but I had way too much sauce on my chicken shawarma pita, and on the garlic fries. Made for a very messy meal. Those who got bowls or falafel pita fared better. I would like to see the chicken, beef and lamb roasting on a spit and shaved fresh to order like other similar restaurants I've visited in other cities/countries, and a beer selection, to improve the culinary experience. Bottom line - this is a great option if you live in the area and want to grab takeout for the family. Not a great option for a group of women looking to have book club. Also, it wasn't clear that the build your own bowl or pita is a starting price on the menu and that every choice adds to the cost. In other build-your-own establishments (think poke bowls or burritos) it's clear what the up-charges will be. read more

Delicious food; good size portions. We had a group of 8 adults and 2 kids for dinner. I worked with Muhammad by phone to get a catered meal to be packed up and picked up in Portland. He was very helpful in helping me choose portions . We corresponded by phone several times. The pickup was seamless. Our food was hot and packaged well to go at the pick up time we requested. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The meal was very good. The portions were ample. The Greek salad was packed with veggies, olives and feta. We had plenty leftover and enjoyed the salad for lunch the next 2days. The tabouli was a favorite as were the falafels with the herb tahini. We recommend Jaffa. Fall in love with falafel! I had the falafel pita(wrap) you don't have to make any changes to make it vegan! It was awesome! I took out one ingredient I don't personally like and added an olive oil-lemon dressing, it was perfect! Stuffed grape leaves(dolmas) are a favorite of mine and they have them and they're great! I also had the tabbouleh and it's the only thing I wasn't crazy about. I also had a fresh squeezed lemonade, so good! I'm going to try a salad next time and smoothie. They have bowls too and many vegan sides! My non-vegan partner loves falafel and said it was the best he's had in Maine! He added tzatziki to his pita and adored the baklava! It's authentic Mediterranean food, made to order, fresh and the service is great! Options for carnivores, herbivores and anyone in between! Clean, modern and relaxed environment! We enjoy Jaffa very much! We had the Greek salad to start and I had a falafel pita. Hubby had the harissa chicken pita and he enjoyed its heat and flavor a lot. I really liked my falafel pita, very filling, fresh and satisfying. The crew wants to please and the manager has good leadership skills. Smooth even though it was very busy. My husband thought there could have been more feta on the salad. We like the clean, happy environment there with recycling a strong emphasis. We will return again! read more

Great food and location. The service is helpful and excellent. The maza meat bowl comes with a combo of different proteins and you choose your options of filling and sauces. One of my option was the humus and it is a smooth and creamy humus. Some of the best I have had. The food is fresh and tasty. We also got a protein fries and our choice of protein was braised lamb. The restaurant was spotless with lovely outside seating. Ordering was organized and efficient. We ordered the Greek Gyro Bowl. It was less than optimal. It consisted mainly of rice and lettuce smothered in sauce. Exceptionally skimpy on the other bowl items (feta, onions, olives etc). The seasonings on the gyro meat and rice left me burping and tasting it all thru the night. Really wanted to like it, the concept is fabulous, but must give it a thumbs down. read more

Jaffa gets my takeout/delivery order wrong. Every time. They even have a sign proudly displaying a special treat awaits if your order is wrong at the entrance, so apparently this is part of the regular Jaffa experience. If you want to spin the roulette wheel on lunch or dinner, then the food here is decent. Their wraps are dry, but the bowls deliver. read more

So two orders trying to support the new place. First of all, when they get the order right- the food is great, filling and flavorful. First order- two bowls- one with Pita Chips and one with Grape leaves- both missing and left out. Second order two days ago, made note of Pita/Grape leaves again, left out but asked and got them afterwards, before leaving. Also ordered a salad with Falafel- paid extra, no Falafel. I had a delicious build your own bowl with brown rice, arugula, spicy chicken, tzatziki sauce, cucumbers and herbed dressing. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Since it was my first time & I asked about protein options, I was glad the woman making my order showed me each. The man at the checkout was extra kind to give me a drink cup for my choice of beverage on the house since they didn't have change for a $20 & I had to use my card. I gave a better tip since they are losing out a little by having to pay the credit card company a percentage. Nice open, sunny spot and the music playing is at a nice level. I can hear it but if I was with others it's not too loud for conversation. More labels on what the toppings/sides/additions are behind the glass would be helpful, so I'd know if I wanted it without having to ask about the unknown/not obvious choices. Many things are obvious like cucumbers, corn, but I had to ask about several items. And personally I would prefer twice the amount of greens/vegetables and half the amount of rice. The picture below shows how much is still in the bowl after eating the chicken and veggies. And I probably ate at least half of what was given. Good flavor but this is more for the service than the food. The service was terrible. Child like even. It was sloppy service and it was a mess. The food is good which is hard to believe that it has service and presentation like this. There was no engagement nor when I asked for additional items was it honored.
