so glad i decided to try jaffa finally !! the sweetest barista, allyson, was so kind & walked me through the menu. came at the perfect time (2pm ish on a wednesday) so it wasn't too busy and allyson could really take her time talking w me im so indecisive but came in w an open mind, ended up choosing the strawberry sage creek & asked allyson to choose a second drink for me. i've never gotten 2 sweet treats at once like this !! that's how freaking good everything on the menu looks, i had to try more than one drink !! loved my iced SSC w oat milk (vegan cold foam btw !!), def hits the spot if you're craving coffee, want a lil sweetness but not too sweet-- the flavor of the midnight in jerusalem espresso in the SSC has the perfect mild/muted flavor for someone who wants an iced specialty coffee w/o the heavy coffee flavor (comes normally as "medium sweet", you can up/down that !!). maybe i'm crazy but i'm also getting a subtle hint of like, a milky tea from the espresso flavor? like an earl grey tea? def my flavor profile okay now the pineapple expresso is advertised similarly as the SCC, but once allyson gave me my drink and told me about it, she was telling me how the PE but as a matcha (so no espresso) has been her summer drink. def not something i'd order for myself but i actually loved it even more than the SCC !! i highly highly highlyyy recommend !! the matcha isn't over powering (i think the matcha they use is sourced from yabukita matcha leaves which makes sense why it's sooo smooth & has such a great flavor). and paired w the pineapple flavors, vegan hawaiian whip, and i believe allyson said coconut milk is used... omg this drink. PLEASE i urge everyone to try this at least once. so refreshing, creamy, smooth, i don't even wanna finish mine bc im gonna be sad when it's gone !! and she offered to make me something completely different of my choice if i didn't like it. no barista has ever offered that to me. ok i think ive yapped enough lol you will not regret trying jaffa. also if u dont wanna pay for street metered parking, turn into the neighborhood behind jaffa, there's plenty of curb parking, and it's a beautiful lil walk this time of the year w all the flowers in everyone's yard allyson i owe u my first born for recommending this pineapple matcha to me read more

I've been wanting to try this coffee shop since I had their coffee first at the last UNRWA USA 5k event. Decided to have my family go this morning despite being a long drive but super worthwhile. The cafe is beautifully decorated and you can tell every thing has a personal touch--even the bathroom!! There's so many drinks to choose from so you will take time to pick. I wish I could have tried everything. My husband ordered the drinks and the barista was very friendly and chatty. I think they need another extra pair of hands tbh as the line was long. Got a customized iced matcha latte with strawberry whip. The matcha itself was pretty standard for a coffee shop, but the strawberry whip was soo yummy! It was pretty pricey but understandably since they were able to accommodate and do the custom drink. I also got a choccy chip cookie which was good! The owners of Jaffa have created a beautiful space here on University. Light, airy and thoughtful decor with a beautiful mural of orange blossoms behind the counter. The coffee offerings are equally if not more appealing. I ordered the Jaffa orange latte with almond milk (iced). It is served with such care and attention to detail - like a breakfast cocktail. There aren't many coffee shops open in Berkeley before 8 AM, so I was happy to come across Jaffa! I believe their coffee is an Ethiopian blend - has a really nice flavor! All syrups are made in-house. Pastries are outsourced from a bakery in Mountain View. Almond croissant was great! For the studiers, there are outlets and Wi-Fi. The orange drink was my favorite. The strawberry one is good, but I would try another item next time. I would not get the whipped cream again (it was just too early for me, and it made the drink a little sweeter than I wanted but that's just personal preference). Definitely will be back :) read more

Heard about this place opening recently and came to check it out. The interior is modern and clean with plenty of seating. The quality of the drinks goes above and beyond most other cafes. I had the iced matcha, which had a rich earthy flavor. The matcha was not overly milky or watery as i've had at other cafes. My friend ordered the 'marshmallow tea' (i'm blanking on the actual name, but it had the word marshmallow) and it was light and refreshing with a very unique flavor. I believe their signature drink is the jaffa orange latte, which we also tried. It was perfectly sweet with a dried orange on top, definitely my favorite of the three. Friendly staff and owners as well. Drinks came out surprisingly quick for how great they tasted. Can't wait to come back! read more

This is literally the perfect addition to Berkeley!! I've tried nearly all the coffee shops in the area and I was so excited to explore a new one. I can say that this spot is already one of my favorites! I stopped by on Sunday morning and there were a decent number of people enjoying drinks and conversation. The ambiance was impeccable and the space is so cute. I loved the decor, tables, and even their cups! Bonus points for a nice bathroom in the back. There were so many unique mocktails. I loved the creativity since there's nothing like it in Berkeley. I settled on an iced jaffa orange latte with almond milk and less sweetness. It was perfect. I never leave reviews but after trying almost every coffee shop in Berkeley this one deserves it! Best coffee hands down! I love the banana in Jericho , strawberry sage creek and white mocha. Everything I have tried has been delicious and exactly how I want it. They are nice about making modifications for me which I so appreciate. They have uno and other games and snacks for kids so my young son loves it here as well. My spouse gets cappuccinos and pour overs. We love the simple decor and mural on the wall. Strawberry whipped cream and dried strawberries. Very balanced flavor, not too sweet and not bitter. Espresso was bright and creamy. The right amount of ice too. It was AMAZING. I come from Elk Grove, this was my first time here! Very cute shop and will be coming back when I visit Berkeley. Simple incredible. I am a coffee enthusiast and was delighted by the interplay of flavors here harkening back to Palestine. The beverages are top notch and unique, which is the exact crossroads around which I like to spend my money. The Californian Palestinian vibe of the cafe makes so much sense. Don't go here if ur in a rush. Delicious artisan coffee. Oat milk laté was $7.70. There are a lot of good coffee places with a $5.00 laté in the area. I originally wanted a single shot of decaf and a single shot of caffeinated and now that I think about it they just gave me half of the regular amount of allocated caffeine. Which sounds fine but did I just pay 8.00 for a single shot and a bunch of oat milk? Smh read more

The Choco Capp was delicious. It wasn't too sweet and it complimented the coffee really well. I really appreciated the cacoa nibs on top which was a nice touch. For the americano, it was smooth and not too strong. Overall, it was balanced cup of coffee which is impressive to do. As for the ambiance, it is relaxing and beautiful. You could tell that they really put some thought into the layout and the details of the shop. Lastly, everyone there was super welcoming and sweet.
