Reading a book and enjoying a jaffa latte.
    Sagruilla P.

A beautiful café slightly out of the central Berkeley hubbub with good coffee drinks, as well as lots of warmth, light, and tables. A big mural of oranges greets you as well as friendly service. The music was good, and it felt like I was in someone's summer patio instead of a winter afternoon. I could even smell oranges (they ended up being in the middle of juicing them). Their eponymous jaffa latte is lovely with orange syrup and a dried orange slice for garnish.

A long overdue review, but doesn't change my experience at Jaffa Coffee Roasters! Was headed back home and needed a pick me up for the drive. I'm always down to try new coffee spots and I'm glad I got to try the seasonal mumkin spice latte. My boyfriend also got the seasonal salted caramel by the sea. Both drinks were actually recommended by the lady taking our order. She was extremely friendly asking if it was our first time here and how we like our coffee. Our coffees came out quickly and we were both very impressed. The PSL had its special twist which I enjoyed compared to the normal PSLs you typically have at other coffee shops. The salted caramel by the sea was a perfect balance of sweetness with a hint of savory. Really enjoyable! Recommend you trying out if you're in Berkeley or passing by!

Came here at 7:30 am and there was plenty of seating. The staff was very nice and offered some suggestions for drinks to try. I got the chocolate rummana and loved the hints of sweetness from the pomegranate within the drink. Perfect for working with wi-fi, the seating and tables are great, and restroom is nice and clean. Please support this local business!!!

    Winter warmer: apple cider mm!

Jaffa Coffee Roasters is an absolute must if you visit the East Bay. They have something for everybody. Of course, they're famous for their Jaffa Orange latte, but as a non-coffee and minimal-caffeine drinker I was so happy to see they had teas and their Winter Warmers right now. I went with their Spiced apple cider (SO delightful, hot, and warmed my heart and cold hands). They also had a cranberry juice based tart winter warmer as well as a citrus one, but I was really glad I went with their hot apple cider. And all had no caffeine! The interior is absolutely jaw-dropping bright, welcoming, and elevated. LOVE the gorgeous Palestinian surfboard yeeeeew! And they have so much seating, you can pick a window-facing table for a quiet chat with your friends, or use one of the many table to plug in and do some work. Saw some people doing work on their laptops and some students studying. It has such a great space and lovely energy for everybody. The Jaffa orange wall mural is absolutely insane. I couldn't stop staring at it. Definitely one of my top 3 cafes to recommend to visitors or tourists when they're looking for a solid cafe spot with seating. Coming back again with friends obviously. No outdoor seating nor does it look very dog-friendly inside, but I'm sure that could easily be changed if they choose to invest in outdoor spots since they're on the corner of the street. PS street parking was free too!

Cute little shop. I got an order Jaffa Orange Latte. I tasted zero orange. No sweetness. Just espresso and milk. But the location was cute with a lovely Palestinian interior. Would have been great to be able to relax woth a book and enjoy some of their pastries, but there is always next time.

    Just in Thyme (seasonal)

Came by yesterday for our Sunday Morning coffee. We were stunned by how bright and open the space is! When you enter, there are tables and board games to the left and a retail shelf to the right. When you get to the counter, take a moment to admire the beautiful Jaffa orange mural on the wall by the baristas/register. Beautifully done & really sets a good tone for your experience. Jaffa Coffee Roasters offers their standard cafe menu, seasonal tea/mocktails, signature mocktails, refreshers, and seasonal hojicha. They also have a selection of baked goods and some handmade bonbons. Since it was our first visit (and definitely not our last) we decided to try their seasonal mocktails-- Just in Thyme ($8) & Gen Z Beel ($8). We got oat milk in each of them instead of the standard which added $1 extra to each and there is a $0.25 Berkeley Cup Charge. We also ordered a Jaffa Orange BonBon ($5.50) and a small Jaffa Cake ($5). Our order totaled at $29. While we waited for our order, we entertained ourselves with some of their coffee infographics by the creamer and to go lids. The bathroom was also well maintained and was decorated to the general theme which was super cute! We also snacked on the Jaffa Orange Bon Bon and Jaffa Cake. I found the Bon Bon to be a tad bit too gritty for my preference but the flavor was great. A subtle orange flavor with a nice rich chocolate. The Jaffa Cake was unique- a spongey cake topped with chocolate. It went great with the coffee because it wasn't too sweet. The drinks were so fun & had a beautiful presentation. Each drink definitely takes some time to prepare so having the pastries to snack on while we waited was ideal. The Gen Z Beel was essentially a spiced coffee. It was perfectly bitter and the coffee flavor shined through. The Just in Thyme was my favorite. I am definitely biased because I prefer a fruit infused coffee. I could honestly even enjoy this drink without milk since there's already whipped cream on top. I especially enjoyed the dehydrated pear garnish. The owner was our cashier, I forgot to ask for his name but he was happy to answer all of our questions and even went through the entire menu with us since it was our first visit. The baristas looked super busy but still made time to briefly chat with us when we were grabbing our drinks from the pickup area. They also made sure that we were aware of where to get lids for our to go cups. Jaffa Coffee Roasters definitely made it into my 'East Bay Coffee Heads' Collection!

First time going to Jaffa. I got an iced matcha, a specialty strawberry coffee mocktail and a chocolate twist - all so so good. Inside is loaded with Palestinian artwork/themes. They have games and books and a whole row of seating for socializing/workspace. Service was great and baristas were kind and helpful. I brought my girl with me and no issues with her in the backpack. Will definitely be putting Jaffa on the "to return" list.

Gave this place another try, I ordered the bananas in Jericho. There is literally no banana flavor present. Why name a drink after a flavor if you cannot even taste it? It tasted like a regular iced latte. I don't like my drinks too sweet, but I still had to add simply syrup to add some sweetness. Service was also very disappointing. I was debating what to order from the specialty drink menu, and was hoping Allyson would help me understand the difference between the drinks. I felt rushed and her answers to my questions were very short. I don't think I'll be returning.

Jaffa is one of my favorite coffee shops in Berkeley! Service was great and so were the drinks! One of a kind drinks that are really high quality. I love the vibe inside as well, really good for studying or hanging out.

Tried this place for the first time and the word heavenly may have been thrown around. I picked up 2 bananas in jericho for me and my friend in the morning and they were excellent. The coffee was strong and the flavoring and cream tasted delicious and high quality. The interior is very cute and peaceful -- a place I would come to on weekends to read and drink my morning coffee. Service was quick and friendly and took great care in making my coffee. I did try a chocolate croissant from here and it was nothing special but satisfied my craving. I will be a regular here!!

    Espresso

I got an espresso and oat milk Gibraltar. Both were decent. Unfortunately they mentioned they were too busy and short staffed for full in-house service--everything had to be made to go in paper cups. The espresso had good crema and decent texture, but no strong flavor notes. I tasted mild acidity and bitterness, possibly the green grape and star anise mentioned on the bag. Richer texture or strong flavors would have made this shot even better. 3/5. With the Gibraltar, the oat milk paired well with the espresso. Well balanced drink. 3/5

We came in here on a rainy Saturday morning to order some caffeine. I got a Hojicha drink (forgot what it was called) while my friend got a matcha latte. We were very lucky to grab a seat as a couple was leaving right after we finished ordering. It took around 15 minutes before our drinks were ready. I really enjoyed my drink as there was pear and thyme that complimented the Hojicha though it did make the drink a little chunky. I just thought it was way too sweet and I should have asked them to hold the whip cream. There was also ginger candy that I thought was a little too much too. My friends matcha latte was very bland, could taste a hint of matcha but definitely need more sugar to bring out the flavor. She spent a lot of time at the self service bar with creamer and sugars to make thag adjustment. Overall very pretty drinks and wonderful vibes but the drinks themselves weren't the best and were quite costly.

    Beautiful mural inside

Jaffa Coffee Roasters is just one stroll away from central Berkeley neighborhoods. Once you step inside, you're transported to a calm & serene place. The walls are filled with beautiful artwork and a mural that just captivates. The staff here are gentle and kind as well. We ordered two lattes "for here" and were able to enjoy the beautiful latte art & garnishes. Will definitely be back next time with a book!

First off, the vibes are so zen, even if it's extremely busy! I came with my friend, both of us Japanese. It was a nice change of pace being in a cafe like this. It's common in Japan for cafes to be more western, so she was shocked that this cafe was more minimalistic, Asian-inspired, haha. There's bar seating plus indoor and outdoor tables. Most customers are Cal students studying or working, and seats can be limited. Communal seating is communal, and there's seating outside too. The service was great! We sat at the bar so we could watch what was happening. We loved how sweet one of the workers who helped us was. Kind service, and they put time and care into making each drink. Wait times can vary, but it's so worth it! I love any Japanese tea--matcha, hojicha, I'm all there! But I especially loved how they have genmaicha. I got the Genmaicha Latte with Oat Milk. It was perfect, subtle sweetness and roast, and a nice earthy matcha blend. I'd get it again. My friend enjoyed her Hojicha Latte, and they were kind enough to accommodate her request and give us Hojicha Tea as well! Everything was great quality and delicious. This sounded intriguing and refreshing, so I decided to give it a try. My beverage was prepared about two minutes after I ordered it, and I was immediately refreshed after the first sip. The orange blossom flavoring was very subtle and provided just the right amount of sweetness and floral essence to counter the matcha's bitterness. The fizziness made this a perfect drink for a hot day. I've tried Mind Coffee's espresso on a prior visit, and I can now say they succeed in both the coffee and matcha categories.

I think sadly, in the Earl Gray Matcha Einspanner, the matcha overpowered the earl gray. The flavor was there, but it was extremely subtle (don't get me wrong, I'd definitely get it again).
