And the gravels are all over the sidewalks when he said they wouldn't be. Texted him this pic and asked for his advice. NO ANSWERS. What happened to 'making your customer happy'? Absolutely the most unprofessional service ever. Hired the company to trim a tree and twice they cancelled on me. First time they cancelled they made me wait 4 hours before they gave me a courtesy call to let me know they wouldn't be able to make it. Second time they cancelled they used the weather as an excuse - "that workers didn't want to get wet and sick". There wasn't even rain predicted in the weather forecast for the day. Twice I had to rearrange my schedule and take the day off from work for Jae's Tree Service. By far the worst customer service experience I've had with any company ever. So here's the thing about Jae and his team, they are customer service oriented, almost to a fault. Last year we had Jae out to do extensive tree trimming on our property, on our Magnolia and "Flame Tree", both of which were very overgrown. Jae cleaned the trees up beautifully, removed all the debris, and left our yard spotless. It was perfect. But this was just our first visit, it was our second where Jae's customer service truly shined bright. My wife and I both work early shifts, heading into the office between 6:30 and 7am. Jae does too, as he's a family man and would prefer to participate in after-school activities rather than work in the afternoons. So how did he accommodate our schedule the next time we needed him? By agreeing to come out BEFORE we left for work, in the morning darkness, to give us a quote on the job. Who does that? Then the day came to do the job, stump/bush removal. Jae's crew came and ripped everything out with ease, BUT we did have a minor incident with a rock and a window. I say minor, because immediately we were notified of the incident, within hours we had a quote from a reputable window company on the repair, and within days Jae had already paid for the service. And we hadn't even paid for the stump yet! There are very few business on Yelp that truly earn their 5-star ratings. Jae's Tree Service isn't one of them. Absolutely unprofessional. My husband and I waited on the property for over an hour for him to show up for our appointment and he didn't show. We had confirmed the appt with him earlier that day, hired a babysitter, moved our appointments with patients and meetings to meet with him. He didn't pick up our calls or texts, nor did he give us a heads up. Even blocking 30 minutes of our time from work is a lot for us so we do expect a heads up in case something happens. We left and dropped him another voicemail to which he answered back with a text saying he dropped by after we left and said that he doesn't service our area. Today we had a 60-year old olive tree, a 25-year old Chinese magnolia and many overgrown shrubs cut and trimmed by Jae and his crew for the first time. We have been using Jae's Tree Service for several years, and they have always provided quality tree trimming with a professional and friendly team. Jae's has trimmed our fruit trees and a huge Carrotwood in our yard, and the results are beautiful every time. Recently, we had to remove a large tree from our property, and Jae's had the entire thing cut down in a few hours. They returned the next day to completely grind down the stump so that it is well below the ground level. They hauled everything away and left our yard neat and tidy. I had called and made an appointment to have Jae come quote me for some tree trimming and he seemed great when I scheduled the appointment for two days from the call. Jae was a no show with no phone call or text saying why he didn't show up so I called and left a voicemail asking if he was still coming. I missed his return call and got a voicemail later that evening around 5pm saying that his young son had gotten hurt at his babysitters earlier in the day and they went to get X-rays to see if his arm was broken his so he had panicked and dropped everything and apologized for the inconvenience and that he would offer a 10% discount and to give him a call back. Being a mom I completely understood having your child get hurt and left him a voicemail saying I would love to reschedule and not to worry about it because I understand putting family first. The next day I got a call back and he didn't seem to know anything about my call because he asked where I was located and said he received a voicemail saying I needed a quote like I had never spoken to him before so I mentioned the voicemail he left me about his son etc. and he said that he didn't remember ever scheduling an appointment with me in the first place and that his son was kind of hurt but he kind of beat around the bush about his sons injury. It was a really strange call and I was super skeptical so I said I didn't need the quote anymore and I was good. A few minutes later I received the following text from Jae: "i'm sorry my son didn't get hurt but i don't remember you on my list for a estimate i do apologize for the inconvenience and if you are interested and asked him and I will give you a 15% discount of anybody's price that is in a written contract for your inconvenience have a great day and a happy holidays" After that text I was definitely not going to book with him because he lied about the situation and even though I did appreciate his honesty after the fact and attempt to make the situation better I was super disappointed because I saw so many good reviews about his company.
