Magic...Come for wine, and stay awhile! Calling all wine lovers, and/or people who enjoy great wine. Jadu is a chic wine bar in Jamaica Plain that I had the privelege of checking out for the first time with friends. Located on the busy Centre street, this posh wine bar is something to talk about. Our server Alex gratiously mentioned some of their wine specials. We opted to stick to the menu, which had a lot to choose from. I recommend trying out a few different varietals, your palate will thank you :) I tried their Rose Pet-Nat which was phenomenal and everyone else had something different. Their menu is small, tapas style but yet so delicious and eloquent. We shared their Whipped Feta, Bread & Whipped Butter, Salad and Rice Pudding for dessert. Everything was spectacular! For 4 people we were full, but I could've stayed for more wine. There's never a dull moment when it comes to wine, right! I know that Boston has a ton of wine bars, but Jadu is something special. From the cozy ambiance to their fabulous and fun wine selections, it felt like I was in my own living room. And, maybe that is the vibe that are going for, but nevertheless they are worth a visit. The concept is unique and refreshing, and the space feels casual and easy to enjoy. Ordering was simple, and I love the idea of it transforming into a wine bar at night. I'd definitely come back to check that out. I tried the hot cocoa and the Maggi. The hot cocoa was delicious, rich and chocolatey without being overly thick or heavy. The Maggi had some really fun and unique ingredients, including avocado, and the tofu was especially well seasoned and flavorful. The only downside was the broth. It was labeled as a soup, but it felt incredibly watered down and lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting especially since I grew up eating maggi. The toppings and ingredients themselves were good, but the broth didn't quite bring everything together. My husband got the tuna salad bowl and enjoyed it. read more

Nice spot to grab a quick coffee or stay longer for breakfast or lunch in JP! I tried the labneh parfait - yogurt was thick and creamy which balanced well with the fresh strawberries and crunchy granola. Coffee was good quality and I heard the tea and other drinks are delish! I really enjoyed having a chill weekend breakfast here! I got the avo tartine and an iced hojicha latte. You order at the counter then they'll call your name to pick up your food and drink. The space is bright and open with some tables set aside as laptop-free. I enjoyed the food and the hojicha latte hit the spot. I'd definitely return to try more of their menu! read more

Obsessed with this adorable new cafe! Located right in downtown JP with lots of surrounding street parking. The place itself is on the smaller side with a beautiful airy space with a green aesthetic with plants and cute artwork. It's clearly popular already as a meet up spot due to the yummy food and as a work spot with bar counter seating and good WiFi. The food menu itself is such a fun fusion between typical cafe food and Indian/south Asian flavors, and everything is executed so well. So far I have tried the labneh parfait which was amazing, the mezze situation which was perfect for snacking while working and had the freshest fluffiest pita, and my personal favorite the avocado toast with is topped with a masala spice for a little kick. The coffee drinks are also really good and I particularly like their matcha! The staff are so kind and welcoming. It also closes at 3pm and then re-opens in the evening as a wine bar! Will definitely have to come in the evening sometime to try the evening bites. read more

Beautiful ambiance. Clean, airy, bright, and cute decor and paintings. The aesthetic is seen even in the plates and glasses. Seems very intentionally designed and curated. The cardamom latte was delish. You could taste the cardamom flavor and it's so unique compared to other cafes. The Turkish eggs were good but the only flavor I could get was the sourness of the yogurt and I wonder if they could add something to balance it out. The breakfast Sammy while tasty felt dry and could use either a spread/chutney or perhaps a dipping sauce. Service was friendly and quick. I do wish them all the best because JP could do with such a cafe. Some advice for them would be to add more flavor to some of their dishes and supplement their dishes with a brilliant supply of baked goods, which can really lift up a cafe. read more

Good spicy chai, not too sweet. I was intrigued by the savory oats, which had a wonderful spicy umami flavor, although I don't know that I would order them again. If I were to return, it would probably be just for the chai! They also sell the concentrate. read more

Finally got to stop by Jadu -- I've tried to come in on 5 or 6 occasions, but there's been no sitting room. Was left feeling a bit frustrated today as the problem is apparent -- there's very limited seating, no WiFi limits to promote table turnover, and table sharing/courtesy isn't encouraged. I think this would be an easy improvement for this new spot to implement to drastically improve customer experience! I ordered a hot cardamom latte and the "breakfast sammy". The latte was delicious and its presentation was great as well. The little mug it came in was adorable and I enjoyed it. The breakfast sandwich was a pretty typical coffee shop sandwich; it got the job done. The baristas/staff were very welcoming and kind. The space itself is pretty sterile and vacuous/echoey. I can readily admit that different people appreciate different types of coffee shops; I appreciate a calming, cozy space and atmosphere. While Jadu didn't check those boxes for me, it may be somebody else's "cup of tea". I'll probably stop by in a few months to see if time is the solution here! read more

I go here all the time and last week had the best time, so writing a review. Very tasty matcha and a great iced vanilla latte keep me coming back. The Turkish style eggs and tuna bowl are so flavorful! What sets Jadu apart is a great patio in the back during the day. We were very excited to try their wine bar menu and Jadu at night did not disappoint. The wine (and other beverage selection) was great and had lots of options. The food was delicious and prices were very reasonable. The tuna could've used a bit more lemon but it was so fresh and a good portion. The cauliflower was our standout favorite and I'll definitely be back for it. Highly recommend for casual drinks or cute date night. I was impressed by service especially on night 1 since the cafe hours are counter service. They seemed to out a lot of thought and effort into this and it's coming together very well. read more

Fantastic cafe and now wine bar from Fri-Sun! Food is always incredibly good. The owner is always there working so hard with her staff. They're so friendly and attentive. I love their tea selection during the day and wine selection at night. I appreciate that they have non-wine options as well. It has for sure become a go-to place for me and something that was much needed in the JP neighborhood. They work with other local businesses to source ingredients and the amazing chocolate cake (shout out Monumental Market). I love supporting locally-owned small businesses, and this is one I'll continue support. read more

loved this new modern edition to JP! I came to jadu during the daytime where it is a cafe with an Indian flare (I know at night it becomes a wine bar which I hope to try!). I ordered the seasonal lavendar iced latte which was creamy and delicious. There was the perfect amount of lavender in my opinion that you could taste the essence without being overwhelmed or overpowering the coffee flavor. I also ordered the kimchi breakfast sandwich on focaccia - so good. It has a kick which I liked, service was super friendly and nice but pretty slow, particularly for food. read more

Had such a great time at Jadu! The wine selection was great and I fell in love with the whipped feta and chai tiramisu. Their menu was great with good marketing. A great spot for unique and/or well-made coffee: don't sleep on their cardamom latte, very tasty. This place gets really packed though, and is also a challenge to figure out the line situation (who's actually in line, where do I stand after I order, where do I pick up my drink?). It's more of an in-and-out place for me- which IMO the vibe (clean, crisp, efficient, not super homey or cozy) supports as well. read more

I'm giving this place a 5 because I want it to succeed, but honestly, it's more of a 4 until they figure out their seating situation. People camp out with their laptops, making it nearly impossible to find a spot to sit and eat, even just for a quick breakfast. I've been three times and had to stand while eating twice. That said, the food is great, and both the matcha and coffee are delicious. I highly recommend it and love having it in the neighborhood, but they really need to address the seating issue. read more

I love love love this place. It opened as a coffee shop some time ago and it's excellent - solid coffee and some really creative food. Now it's added it's evening wine bar avatar - currently only weekends - and I went for the first time today - in fact I'm there now - and had an excellent glass of Chilean red & was super intrigued by a really cool looking menu. I'll of course be back. This place has what in my opinion JP sorely lacked - a great vibe, and good food and drink, without attitude and run by knowledgeable, lovely people. I went to Jadu for the first time this morning, and can't wait to go back! I had an iced mocha latte and a yogurt parfait. They were both so heavenly! My friend said she had been there for lunch before and it was really good as well. The staff was friendly, and so were the customers (I spoke with a little girl at the next table about her cookie and her singing class). Really nice vibe! read more
