Growing up around here, you get used to chain restaurants being the main options, so having a genuinely good Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant right in the middle of Fairview still feels special to me. Isshin has honestly become one of those places that locals are proud to show off when friends or family come into town. What I love most about Isshin is that it doesn't feel like some rushed corporate hibachi chain. It has its own personality and atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, there's this calm, welcoming environment that makes it feel comfortable whether you're there for a casual lunch, dinner with family, or celebrating something special. The restaurant has been serving Fairview since around 2013, and you can tell they've built a loyal customer base over the years because people genuinely keep coming back. The food is honestly some of the best you'll find in the area. For a small town like Fairview, having fresh sushi, hibachi, ramen-style dishes, and Japanese cuisine done this well is something a lot of people probably take for granted. Their hibachi dinners are always filling and flavorful, and the portions are generous enough that you definitely leave satisfied. The steak and chicken hibachi are consistently good, and the fried rice somehow tastes better every single time I go. Another thing that deserves recognition is how reliable they are. Everybody in Fairview has those restaurants where you never really question whether the food will be good because it always is, and Isshin has become one of those places. Whether you dine in, order takeout, or grab delivery after a long day, the quality stays consistent. That's honestly one of the hardest things for restaurants to maintain, especially in growing towns where business gets busier every year. The staff has always been friendly in my experience, and you can tell they work hard to keep things moving smoothly even during rushes. There's a good balance between quick service and still making customers feel welcomed. It feels like one of those places where the employees genuinely care about the experience people have when they come in. Honestly, Isshin represents something bigger than just good food. It represents Fairview continuing to grow while still keeping that hometown feeling alive. Watching our town slowly become more developed over the years has been bittersweet at times, but businesses like Isshin make that growth feel positive. It's one of those places that gives Fairview character and makes people proud of where they're from. At this point, Isshin isn't just "the Japanese restaurant in town." It's become a local staple. Whether it's after church on Sunday, dinner after a football game, date nights, family celebrations, or just grabbing sushi with friends, this restaurant has become part of so many people's routines and memories in Fairview. Places like this are what turn a growing town into an actual community, and Fairview is lucky to have it.

A decent option if you're looking for a casual, family-style meal, but don't expect anything…read moreremarkable. The food is fairly plain and uninspired compared to other hibachi restaurants in the area -- I'd place it on the lower end of the spectrum. Worth noting: there are no cooks preparing your food in front of you at the table. Your order is simply brought out to you. One thing that stood out negatively: when placing a takeout order, I was charged $4 for extra Yum Yum sauce. That felt excessive and a bit off-putting for what is typically a complimentary condiment. Overall, it's a mediocre dining experience. Since dining options in Fairview are limited, it may be your best bet if you're looking for something close to home -- but if you're willing to make the drive, there are better hibachi restaurants worth seeking out.

A solid Chinese Buffet & Hibachi. Great for Lunch!…read more I was in the area at lunchtime and read a positive review by Pam W., so I visited for lunch, and I'm glad I did. The staff were friendly and efficient. I got seated right away and headed to the hibachi while my server got my drink. The hibachi food items looked fresh. I chose rice noodles, shrimp, steak, onions and mushrooms cooked with ginger, chili oil, and soy sauce. The dish was made quickly and it was delicious. Some of my favorite buffet items included the dumplings, the dim sum, the bourbon chicken, the General's chicken, chicken on a stick, the salad bar, and the hot & sour soup. I was too full to sample the desserts or ice cream. I was not in a hurry, and the staff had no problem with me staying a while. The restaurant was clean and had some nice, soft music playing. My lunch with water was only $12. This was a really fair price for the amount of fresh and tasty food offered. There are lots of tables and this seems to be a good choice for families and groups. I'd recommend it.

The vibe is speakeasy that's both intimate enough for a date but also welcoming for larger groups. It's the only restaurant in Nashville that is able to combine the authentic flavors of Chinese cuisine with a fun twist. I started to list my favorite dishes but realized it was almost the whole menu so I will break down my top three dishes by category: 1) Small dishes: Sourdough Scallion Pancakes, Char Siu Baby Back Ribs, Salt and Pepper Chicken wings 2) Large dishes: Whole Sizzled Fish, Pork Chop, Beef Chow Fun 3) Vegetables: Smashed Cucumbers, Baby Bok Choy, Chrysanthemum Peaches The Peking style duck is an absolute stand out!! They spend over a week preparing the duck and it makes super flavorful and unlike any other duck I've had. I love this place so much I even convinced my team to rent out the upstairs event space for a team meetup and it was perfect. We got the whole upstairs bars to ourselves for a private cocktail hour and they were able to push all the tables together so we could sit 20 people at one table. If you're looking for something unique and special, it can't get any better than Choy!!

We are celebrating a special occasion and felt so great choosing this place as a night to celebrate. We curated our own menu based on reviews online. We went with the scallion pancake, the shrimp fried rice, the baby back ribs, the smashed cucumbers, the bok choy, and mapo tofu as well as ice milk for dessert and a tequila cocktail. As you can see the presentation of all dishes were beautiful. The highlights included the shrimp fried rice with a savory rice and a great amount of shrimp, the yellowtail yusheng with a wasabi base that was absolutely delightful and the baby back ribs that fell off the bone and you wanted to savor every last bite. The ice milk for dessert was the move as it was nice and light to finish off a heavy dinner. We definitely will be back again for the ribs and vibes. Thank you for a special night Choy!
