El Monte Mexican Restaurant - Not sure - Mexican Near Me - White Bluff, Tennessee

I got the Molcajete costilla and I eat a lot of Mexican food all over the south. We travel all over Mexico as well and eat at hole in the wall Mexican restaurants all over North America. This was the best Mexican food I have had in the state of Tennessee. Service was great and the food was the best. You need to go if in white bluff or even make the trip and go. read more

Been coming here for years and ordering mainly takeout. They recently opened in a new location/building and it's so nice and pretty. But the customer service has tanked. I have ordered the same few dishes for my family every visit for years and it is suddenly (since the move) never correct. Every week I speak to the "owner" who "fixes it" but then every week he tells me how this is the first time he's encountered these issues. I am pretty sure the staff all lie to me and tell me they are the owner when I ask to talk to someone. Side note, they provide the tiniest cups of salsa ever. And at this point you're just better off going to literally any of the other 20 Mexican restaurants in this area than wasting tons of time and money ordering from here if you ever expect your order to be as described read more

El Monte Mexican Restaurant - Cold Mexican style tacos... with browned avocado and ZERO toppings. - Mexican Near Me - White Bluff, Tennessee

Nice staff, always served fast, clean restaurant and great food! Love the horchata! White Bluff is growing and this one is a staple!

We've eaten here twice now. The first time was about two years ago and we were not the least bit impressed. Food was very bland and even the salsa was like watered down tomato sauce with stale chips. It was so bad we vowed to never go back but then a band we knew was performing there recently and we decided to go to support them and were also optimistically hoping that with their recent remodel maybe the food would be better too. Not!! I ordered the taco platter and my husband ordered a burrito. I was disappointed that my taco shell tasted like soggy cardboard when I had asked for crispy flour. And the meat seemed almost fake and watered down in consistency but I was hungry. Anyway, I hadn't taken more than three bites of my first taco when I felt a long hair in my mouth. And I'm talking already half way down my throat, gagging me, long.... Well, obviously my meal was ruined but for the sake of salvaging our evening I tried to make the best of it and focused on the rice and beans and chips and salsa. Also, we had decided to just have water with our dinner and I don't know where it came from but it tasted absolutely horrible! My husband said it tasted like sewer water based on what he knew sewage smells like and I had to agree. Anyway....I hadn't planned on saying anything about the hair but when our waitress brought us our bill I opted to nicely mention it more as an fyi so she could let the cooks know.... So imagine our shock when she burst out laughing! Not a single I'm sorry or any assurance that she'd communicate this to their establishment.... Just burst into laughter and then put the electronic bill under my nose waiting for me to select a tip amount. I thought hell no! She may not have prepared my food but responding the way she did was a slap in the face so I promptly selected the "no tip" option and told her it was because of that. And to think I was just going to keep quiet, smile, give a dutiful tip and chalk it up to another disappointing dinner. At least now we can honestly say we will not be back...ever! read more

The food was eh the size portions are so off I asked for a large the green plate and it was like a small the white plate was like a regular and it was more I'm very dissatisfied with this on top of that I found hair in my salsa then when I started eating on the second plate I found hair in it also I told the waiter and I got the response "oh" the food is over priced also for the portions. I will not be goin back read more

Great Mexican food that really tries to take it next level. The service is solid (never have to worry about an empty drink) and the food is delicious. They're even renovating their building and expanding! What more can you ask for? read more

So far I've had a great experience here and an okay experience! The ambiance is great, pricing is good and overall the food is good. Service is fine, sometimes hard to communicate with the staff. But great overall. Their salsa is to die for! read more

Having just moved to the area, we thought we'd give this place a try, but it's the last time we'll darken their door. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce. The shredded beef was questionable as to whether or not it was real meat. The water didn't taste right. The food lacked flavor (bland) and our overall experience was very disappointing, especially after hearing some locals recommending this place. read more

Solid food, pricing, and portions. Typical Mexican restaurant that had a wide choice of options and great food.

This place is great! Their Mexican tacos with shrimp were delicious. I wish there were a few more pieces of shrimp, but they were perfectly seasoned. The green salsa was also great, and they make their flour tortillas warm and soft. You also can't beat their 2-4-1 margaritas. This is also the only restaurant that is open after 8pm in this tiny town. Such a great place to eat! read more

Been there several times, always been great service and great food. Love the Mexican tacos. Wait staff is fast and, courteous.

The food is good. my sis spilt a drink and they were fast and calm. The service is great. The ambiance is pretty for the holidays.

This place had terrible service and low quality food. The servers had a hard time understanding english, took forever to get drink/food orders and had to be reminded about orders they did not bring out after serving everyone else at the table. The food was not even close to authentic, more like a dolled up Taco Bell. Most items had ground beef not carne asada. The chicken was dry and food was luke warm or cold. I'm sure there are other Mexican places around White Bluff or Dickson, give them a shot...but don't go to this place. read more

This is your very typical tex mex kind of restaurant. The food is alright but really nothing special. Due to the limited amount of food choices in White Bluff, it's either mediocre mexican food, bbq, diner food or mcdonald's. Worth skipping and driving out to Dickson. read more

If I could give a negative stars I would. The staff acted like we were a bother when we came in. I ordered a taco supreme. When I got my food the meat was cold and just tasted like fried hamburger meat. It was so greasy that I could squeeze my taco and the grease just dripped out of it. It was so bad that it made me sick at my stomach. When I took my food up to the counter and gave it back to them. They looked shocked. But, when I got back to my table they were just laughing about it. Save you stomach and skip this place read more

Quite a pleasant surprise to find Mexican food this good in a town this size. In Middle Tennessee. Light and crispy chips and very good salsa. Decent sized portions, especially for the "extra" items like crema, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The chimichanga I had was more of a flauta or taquito with open ends, allowing some of the chicken to get scorched during the cooking, but not bad. Beans and rice were average. read more

Keeps getting worse as the years go on. Lots of MSG used in food. Be careful eating here, I have been in the kitchen.

If I could give this a negative star I would, pretty sure you could get dog food at the local grocery store that is better than this crap

El Monte was great. We went with our family of 12 plus 3 kids. Everyone ordered a different entree. The result was authentic Mexican food, some of the best we have ever eaten. The salsa that they served with the chips was fantastic. I had the Pork Carnitas & one of my brothers had the Chili Verdi. Both dishes were very tasty. Large portions. Rice and beans excellent also. There is always a crowd. read more

OH, my God... The current manager is the BESSSSST!!!! Just a few short years ago we HAAAATED this place! Now, it's one of our all-time favorites. I can never remember the manager's name, but I know him by sight and he always recognizes us, even if we haven't been able to get by in a while. The food and service are fantastic, due to this young man running the ship and his fantastic crew, too! read more

Food is good, service is good and Margaritas are fair. But if you have a MSG sensitivity, I would be careful. My boyfriend does have one and he has had a reaction a couple of times which is a bummer. read more

So if you are in the "metropolis" of White Bluff, and it's past 8 pm, there are pretty much two places to go eat. Here and McDonald's. So that's not pretty much two places, it is two places. Thank goodness this one has margaritas. I've visited here three different times, I am originally from this county and have friends that live nearby. It's not fancy, just a good, basic Mexican joint that offers up chips and salsa as soon as you walk in and cheap margaritas that are perhaps a tad too green... but you don't question it. Is anyone ever a "gourmand" when it comes to Mexican places in Tennessee? I don't think so. You can pay $9 for fajitas, and they are not relevantly different from $12 fajitas, or $14 fajitas, etc. Kitsch, absolutely. They have a nice open patio where sometimes when I've been there had live music, not sure if it was intentional or a patron who embibed and decided to start up a song or two. No matter. Service, well, it's OK. Do they speak English? Sorta. Are they in a hurry? Probably not. If you arrive at 8:45 pm like my friend and I did on this last visit they might be trying to close. They'll serve you, but start stacking up the other patio chairs as you are drinking and chatting after you eat. The food is good, and when in Rome, you better head here because your other choices, well choice, is not really an option. read more

The options were limited: Dairy Queen or this place. We chose poorly. This is my 3rd meal from this place. Never again. Ordered a regular size plate of fajitas and was given 2 - that's two - tortillas. The food is pretty tasteless; it's as if no seasoning is used in their cooking process. Their salsa is very good, however. read more

Best quesadilla ever! I had the fajita quesadilla, good chips & salsa not best ever, and fulfilled a random churro craving while adventuring in the middle of nowhere. I'd eat here again but note the restroom and seating area what not the cleanest I've seen. Worth the stop!!! read more

We're been ordering to go for the last year, but felt it was safe to go to the restaurant, last night for Cinco de Mayo. The place was packed, but we were seated immediately. Chips and salsa brought to our table, quickly and shortly thereafter they took our order. The food was hot and delicious! I can't say enough about what a great experience this was! Please don't change a thing! read more

I just had the best meal that I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant! I can only vouch for the Burritos Rancheros, but they were huge and extraordinary.
