Good food but the service is hit or miss. We've had some really friendly waiters and some not so friendly. The corn ribs are so good. I am not a huge fan of creama, but these are so so freaking delicious. I also enjoy their birria tacos. The queso with chorizo wasn't the best, but the salsa is solid. We went to Cano's to get out of the storm on the July 3rd event in Fairview. Us and everyone else. It was super busy. I ordered a skinny margarita and ask if they do indeed make it fresh, (since I'm allergic) to some alcohol mixes. I was assured they do. The first margarita was fine, after my meal (the food was just okay, and kinda cold). It sat for 10 minutes until I could someone's attention for cutlery- so I can eat my meal. I ordered another margarita to try to ride out the storm. This time it was in a cactus glass and I told the many different bartenders-that I had a skinny marg which was in a regular glass. I was assured it was (NO, it was not-it was very sweet!) I motioned one of the bartenders to tell her (very short hair) that it was wrong. She gave me a go to Hell look and turned her back and left. My group and I were stunned. I didn't even drink it, and after about 10 minutes another cactus mug was hastily given to me by that short hair bartender and she left as quickly as she came over. Again, it did not taste the same. We weren't happy with the service (or the attitude). We paid our bill, and tried to go watch the music on the other side. We were going to sit down, and this guy said we couldn't because it was for customers who purchase food. I mentioned we just had food. He said, no. So we left. It smells like cheap bathroom cleaner already from thirty feet outside the entrance. Really gross. I mean, it's supposed to be an eating establishment!.. And there's a long wait. In the very middle of NOWHERE. However, there was nothing else around and this place saved us. (Ran out of snacks in the car.) Know this: If you order a salad bowl with sour cream, Pico de gallo and refried beans, you'll get a really juicy tasty bowl. My husband and I have visited many times for the "bowls". The last two times have been disappointing. It seems that the employees do not want to mess with bowls. Each time we have had to wait for persons to appear to prepare them. Someone finally appeared to prepare my bowl. She was cordial but not friendly. She prepared my bowl with proportionate servings of items in the bowl. The second person who came out was less than friendly. She prepared my husband's bowl with half the size of the items that my bowl had. He also requested chips and salsa, and was told that they would be brought to the table. It was never brought, and he had to go and retrieve them. The same lady that prepared his bowl said that it would be brought to the table and he said well it was not so she finally prepared some chips and salsa for him to bring to the table. Will not return. The food was mediocre. Also paid $37 for two mediocre bowls and two drinks. And don't forget the poor service. read more

I've been sitting on this one for several years now. I visit family nearby every other month, and we inevitably end up here several times during my visit. As such, I've had roughly 30 visits now to properly assess. If we're looking at the food from the lens of Tennessee Mexican food, then no, it's not terrible. If you're more of a Mexican food aficionado, then you might be slightly appalled. It also depends on the day and who is working; better known as inconsistency. Personally, I don't really want to roll the dice on my food quality, especially when I'm paying a premium. Even though the food doesn't particularly excite, and the quality can be hit or miss, that wouldn't normally motivate me to write a review. My big issue here is the service. The staff is very poorly trained, and only one or two have the interpersonal skills to be customer facing. The rest just shouldn't be servers. The lines are constantly blurred because the fast casual atmosphere has both a build your own meal counter and sit down tables. So it's very unclear how to order or who with. The clincher for me though is the STRONG entitled attitude you get from the owner, Armando. Armando missed the memo on how to treat your customer base. He walks around like he's owed your business because he started the restaurant and locked down a good location, not that he's appreciative/grateful that you're there. There's not many options in the area and he benefits greatly from that. My advice would be to appreciate his customers more, because the area is growing quickly and he could soon find himself displaced by any number of outfits who are more professional by default. Canos is not owed your business simply because it exists in the town center. Lastly, the place needs a hired designer and a professional cleaning. Everything aesthetically is cheaply thrown together and the hallway provides a glimpse into the overall cleanliness and hygienic habits of management. Doesn't inspire much confidence. read more

Waited 40 mins and order was completely wrong, manager said he'd fix it right away. 30 more minutes and nothing, manager says "eh we got busy" 70 mins and did not get my food. The food is premade sitting in a warming table so its typically dry and lacking in flavor. Its not really authentic but its more authentic than most in Nashville. This is our Go To for Mexican in our town. The food is flavorful and fresh! It reminds us a little of the authentic Mexican food on the west coast. Though we understand that Mexico has many regions that have their traditional way of cooking but for us, we are thrilled to get Mexican dishes that are unique in flavor. They have a great salsa choices to meet your spice preferences. The waitstaff are very attentive and prompt. I would prefer lighter saltier tortilla chips to snack on, these are the typical restaurant style that are thick and I can't taste seasoning, so I end up adding salt, which is something I have to hunt down from other tables! The restaurant is clean, I'm not a fan of clutter, I have enough of that in my home! They have alcohol to serve but the bar is not a place to sit at. It's counter is cluttered with "stuff" so not inviting. But they will make you a drink and serve it to your table. It's pretty echoey in both rooms. The noise level gets annoying, especially when there are large groups or they have live music. We basically do not or cannot hold a conversation at our table because of the noise level. They could use something on the walls to absorb the decibels. All in all, we are thrilled to have choices in Mexican restaurants in this little town. Nando's has quickly become our favorite Mexican restaurant around. Some people have said it's not "authentic" enough. But my experience is that in the US, all Latin food has been Americanized. Heck, it's Americanized even at the resorts in Cancun and Cozumel. Because the people with most of the cash like it like that. Anyway, back to Nando's. Tasty, definitely Americanized Mexican. Nowhere around will you get more food for your money than here. Inexpensive, tastes great, go hungry, leave stuffed. What more do you expect. If you insist on real adobo or authentic mole', Middle Tennessee is really not the place for it, anywhere close by that I am aware of. One star off Nandos only because parking is not great, but as far as the value and the quality, Nando's can't be topped anywhere near Fairview. read more

This place is all the hype in the town but truthfully, that is coming from people who apparently haven't had good Mexican (spoiler- Nashville is not known for Mexican food. Who would have guessed). I've given this place a few tries. Each time the food can be summed up in one word- BLAND. So stinking bland. Even with my second attempt, I ordered spicy chicken and there wasn't a grain of salt in sight. Where's the garlic, where's the adobo, where's the flavor? (Also, my rice bowl came with no rice..). Went again for ice cream hoping,praying, this place got over its opening woes and got better. Nope. Very expensive ice cream that was more icy than creamy. Staff isn't personable. They haven't even started it. I have to wait for the staff to help 3 other people before they make my food. The chicken chipotle tacos were ok, pretty run of the mill flavor. I got an order of black beans and rice. They put huge chunks of jalapeño on top of the beans that I guess went with a pico, with the smallest amount of queso I have ever seen. Some absolutely amazing Mexican food. As good as any in the area. But to me, the real selling point, is the app for ordering togo orders. You can take your time, and select every ingredient. But the sit down experience is also excellent. Staff is friendly, and i have never had one order that wasnt exactly what I ordered. With two locations south of Nashville, I expect this to become a southern staple in Middle Tennessee before too long. read more
