I'm sorry. This is not even Mexican food. I think the owners decided to fully Americanize their food by adding butter and carrots or sweet potatoes to their rice which was very dry while also making everything super salty. It was very salty for my taste. It was almost too salty to eat. The flour tortillas seem like they're from the grocery store just warmed up. The meat almost tasted like it had your typical taco seasoning pack on it with the veggies. This was not authentic at all. I would not recommend if you're looking for authentic Mexican food. As someone who's been to Mexico and lived in Southern California, this is not it. If you're looking for Americanized Mexican, great, you'll love it. But if you're looking for something authentic, do not go here. However the service is absolutely fantastic very kind and warm staff. read more

It seems like the owner is conscious the review La which are posted. I noticed changes in the establishment that was mentioned on the reviews, like fresh carpet when walking in. The other carpet is old, but does not feel like dirty carpet. I was greeted with friendly smiles for lunch. I arrived at about 1pm and was Walked to my seat. The table was clean and soon after placing my drink order came the salsa and chips. The salsa was ok (I added salt) the chips were warm and fresh, which pared nicely with the queso dip (added salt). With the chorizo tacos - it was ok. Full of meat! A little dry, but better than being overly greasy. Chorizo is a hit or miss so I just added salt, sauce and cheese and messed them up.. We decided to try this place as we had been shopping nearby and were hungry. So glad we did! The food was excellent- I had chicken fajitas and my husband had a carnitas burrito; we also shared a tamale. The portions were generous, the service was great, and the food was delicious. Would like to start by saying the service here was great! They were very friendly and happy. As for the restaurant, the floor is carpeted and a bit dirty. The food was average. We started with a habanero salsa which had a lot of spice but not much other flavor. We then ordered a kids steak taco with rice and beans. It was a great size for a kids meal. The steak was not very seasoned, the rice was salty, and the beans were very mushy and flavorless. We also ordered a tostaguac and a chalupa, we could not distinguish which was which, they appeared and tasted the same- Soggy base with salty ground beef topped with a lot of lettuce and guacamole. The guacamole topping was delicious! Last we ordered a tamale and an enchilada. The tamale was so soft and undercooked it was inedible, the enchilada was an average enchilada. It's difficult to say more than whomever wrote the "Specialties" section for this unclaimed Yelp page. Authentic, consistent, and sometimes so busy you'll have to wade through the crowd, the place is great for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner with friends. Family owned and operated, Pancho's Place has staff that have been reliable partners for many years. Perhaps they're family, too? Several of my friends have been coming so many years they're recognized immediately and sometimes served without needing to place an order. Even they have become a part of the large, extended family of regular customers. My opinion is influenced by a restaurant's chips, salsa, and margaritas. These simple things hint at the regional spices and recipes of the kitchen. If you like them, you're sure to find some other menu items enjoyable. The frozen margaritas are excellent (I'm not a rocks person.) The salsa's spicy heat varies now and again, as do fresh peppers, but the flavor is consistently good.  Your mileage will vary along with the peppers, the depth of the crowd, and how close Pancho's recipes are to the part of Mexico your tastes are accustomed to. No place is perfect, so you'll also experience the ups and downs. You may even find me there on any given Monday. The Chimichanga lunch special was quite ample and priced well! The food was delicious and did not have that canned feel! I highly recommend this place for a simple yet authentic Mexican food! I thought I'd try Pancho's to mix things up, not realizing what kind of soup they served, which ended up being a container full of liquid chipotle chili powder. And no chicken! Beyond surprised by the good reviews for this restaurant. I have never had "bad" Mexican food until Ponchos. Ordered queso (a go to appetizer) and it was thick like Mayo and tasted like it had flour mixed in. My wife ordered fajitas and they came out with no sizzle (what's the point?). I order enchiladas and the cheese wasn't even melted in the enchiladas, it was literally unmelted shredded cheese. It was so bad we were laughing. Taco Bell would've been much better. read more

Great casual dining place for Mexican. I have been going here for years and am amazed that the serving staff has remained steady here. The restaurant is located in a strip shopping center in Franklin off Royal Oaks and 96. They do a great job of getting you seated and bringing your table chips and salsa. I enjoy both and they do a great job refilling that you have to watch not to get too full before your good arrives. I have had various items on the menu here and all have been great. I tend to order the enchiladas the most with your choice of chicken, beef, beans, cheese snd it comes with a side of rice & beans. The taco salad, fajitas, tacos etc are all great too. Margarita's are great too, on the stronger side which is a nice that they don't skimp. You'll find a mixture of families, groups, Couples all at the restaurant enjoying. They also have take out too. My husband and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite in Franklin and were going to eat at a place downtown but the wait was 45 minutes. As it turns out, I'm glad we didn't go to the other place. We ended up at Pancho's and I can't say enough about it! The food was delicious. We had the Panchos burrito and the pork burrito and the cheese dip was out of this world! Might be the Best we've ever had. The burrito tortilla was so thin, it allowed the perfectly balanced flavors inside to shine through. It's rare to find a business where the customer service matches the quality of the food. Chicken Poblano - Lunch. If you're a carnivore, you'll love this dish. LOTS of chicken with a small pepper. Chicken had a nice flavor but the boneless chicken WASN'T boneless. Pancho's place is where we go here in Franklin for the best Mexican food. And being Hispanic myself I feel I have pretty high expectations. The service is prompt , the decor is relaxing and the food is delicious. I recommend the Molcajete. It's a stone dish served piping hot, filled with beef, chicken and shrimp, onion, pineapple, chorizo and nopales (cactus) I share it with my wife and still had to ask for a box. Ordered a dish with shrimp, rice topped with onions , peppers, tomatoes and cheese sauce. Took one bite and tasted a chunk full of salt. Took another bite, because I figured it was probably due to the beer that I just drank and I literally took in a full load of salt dust into my mouth! I had to give the plate back. He asked if I needed more rice on the side to diminish the salty taste. The nerve! Instead, I asked for a shrimp chimichanga. Kind of disappointed, due to THE HIGH SALT CONTENT! Took a bite of the shrimp chimichanga and that was even salty. Honestly, my tongue is just coated with SALT! You're better off ordering nachos with salsa and cheese dip, unless you just love SALT and can handle it. Make sure while you're eating, they aren't vacuuming RIGHT next to you or under your table.
