Ours friends come here a lot and we had never tried this place so we did .. I had the Shrimp fajitas and it was absolutely delicious with a very big portion of perfectly cooked shrimp, beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream and fresh tortillas. I also had a strawberry margaritas which was so good and fresh tasting , NOT made with that overly sweet mix but with fruit muddled in. Our server was very nice and the manager was very nice as well. Ok - This restaurant needs some serious work. I ordered a Vegetarian Taco Salad from their Doordash menu. They have a menu list specifically titled Vegetarian. The Salad was supposed to come with Rice and beans, lettuce tomato, sour cream and guacamole. What I got was a taco shell filled with a ton of shredded chicken, a minute amount of lettuce, covered in sour cream and a single slice of tomato. So, no rice, no beans, no guacamole. I also ordered the Quesadilla Rellena. It was so-so. The tortilla was super thin and very greasy. Normally a Quesadilla is firm enough to pick up but this one was so flimsy I ended up throwing out the tortilla and just eating the center. The Guac tasted kind of old like it had been sitting out for several hours. The salsa was a joke. Basically tomato sauce with a few ingredients thrown in. No flavor, no spice. To be honest, this food reminded me a lot of a cheap buffet that had been sitting out for awhile. I called the restaurant to speak with the manager and the person who answered the phone did not speak English very well. I had to keep repeating myself. Finally - he went and checked and told me that the manager was on break and would not be available for another hour and a half. Wish I could take a long break like that. Seriously - when you manage a restaurant and someone asks to speak with a manager - someone should be avail to take the call. I was not even asked if I was a vendor or a customer. I can understand waving off calls from vendors, but NOT from customers. They didn't even take my number. Just told me to call back. Based on how the manager is running things, I'm not super surprised that their food as well as their customer service is highly lacking. read more

Very unprofessional and would not recommend for groups with more than one check. One of our orders came incorrect (she ordered two bean burritos and was given a vegetarian burrito with assorted charred vegetables) and when she asked to get it switched the waitress was dismissive and walked away (it never got switched). When paying, multiple checks were charged to the wrong cards. When I asked for a refund of the check I was initially charged (more expensive than what I ordered) they wouldn't refund and kept saying they didn't want to double charge anyone's card. We ended up leaving after 15 minutes because we were not getting anywhere and they just kept saying to call if there were any double charges (although that wasn't the issue at all). Had a weekday dinner visit to this local eatery. Was hankering for a large margarita and el sombreros did not disappoint. I had a 20oz on the rocks. Definitely could taste the tequila. Our party of three had the fajitas, burrito platter, and spinach enchiladas The only personal complaint is that the enchiladas had a white cream sauce which if it had been listed i would have asked to substitute it with a red sauce. This is going to be our new go-to restaurant in the area for Mexican in Franklin! We used to go to a spot on Columbia, but it changed hands and wasn't as good. A coworker recommended El Sombrero as a kid-friendly spot, which we are always looking for these days. I've eaten at the one in Lenox Village before. Overall, we loved it! They were so kind to our little guy in his high chair too; every server who came by was waving and smiling at him and asking about him. The food was hot and delicious. The menu had tons of options. Absolutely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Nashville. The food is fantastic and the servers and waitresses are so kind. I really do love this place and its everything you could ask for in a Mexican restaurant. The employees are quick and efficient and you are never really left waiting long at all. The food always comes out hot and delicious. I've never had a meal that I wasn't impressed with. The drinks are also equally delicious and they have a lot of good specials running throughout the week. Went here for the first time for dinner today (Friday evening) with my wife and two kids. Wait time was about 20 min for seating - not bad for this area. But...then the real wait began. It took nearly 10 min for our waiter to come by for our drink order. Then after taking our dinner order it took about 50 min for our meal to arrive. My son ordered tamales (to try for his first time ever). After 30-40 min, our waiter came by to tell us they ran out of tamales. When my daughter's hot dog arrived (she's not adventurous), it was supposed to come with rice and beans - they forgot the rice. The food was pretty good. Chips and salsa were pretty standard fare - nothing special. Entrees were good. But based on service time, I'm not sure we'll be back. Order came out looking nothing like the menu illustration and side not as ordered. Manager seemed unconcerned and said they could not prepare the entree as it was illustrated. Since El Sombrero is super close to my house and Yelpers have been reviewing it, I had to come and check it out. Very disappointed. Where to start. Not one thing can bring me back here except maybe a zombie apocalypse. Overall this place is sloppy, top to bottom. The staff are happily ditzy and don't seem focused on what they're there to do. The tables are not cleaned well. The food presentation is sloppy. The margaritas were terrible. The ice was half melted when they arrived. They tasted of sour bottled lime juice. The chips were bland. They were warm--give them that. The queso tasted canned. We ordered tortilla soup, chicken tacos (corn tortillas), fish tacos, carnitas, and the tamale sampler. The fish tacos smelled very fishy and I worried that my number one son shouldn't eat it (my family loves fish and eats lots of sashimi). My husband pointed out that it was the muddy smell of cheap farm-raised tilapia I was smelling. Gross. My tortilla soup was thin, salty, chock full of bland white chicken meat and otherwise tasteless. The chicken tacos my number two had were just gross. The chicken was shredded and mixed with some sauce that just turned us all off. They came out already put together and wrapped in foil so the tortilla was already mushy when we opened it. The corn tortillas themselves were bland, not worthy of notice. The tamales were really bad. Inexcusably hard, congealed corn meal. Probably frozen and microwaved, although I've made my own, frozen, and microwaved them and they still tasted great. These are an embarrassment to any establishment claiming to serve Mexican food. The entrees are very expensive considering their quality -- in the $10-$12 range. That burns. The staff are not snappy not do they seem to be concerned. Not that they're not friendly--they are, but not sure they would know what to do with any frank comments on the crap food. This is not authentic Mexican in any way, shape, or form. That's okay. Just like Americanized Chinese food does and can please, so can FakeMex. But, this place needs good management for starters. In the Cool Springs area, there's Oscar's Taco Shop, Cozymel's, Chuy's, and Los Primos. Oscar's is totally unpretentious and great value. They are snappy, with it, and care that you are there. You can have a nice cerveza with your meal. Food is hot and prepared right there where you can see it. Cozymel's is a funky, sit down joint. The cocktails are fresh and good. Excellent tortilla soup. The chile relleno is a fusion baby but a damned fine dish. So, Chuy's is for the Chilangos. Those ultra light chips. For the adventurous, there's Los Primos, which is my hands down fave. No chips and queso at Los Primos, but you'll find lengua, grilled jalapeños, and tasty corn tortillas por menos dineros. Compared to all of these, El Sombrero does not rank at all, except as a cruel joke. But, in a zombie apocalypse, I might go back. Adios, Gueuy. read more

I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink, and I had to ask two different people for one to-go. Y 'all, I was raised with great Mexican food in Southern California and it took me 8 years to find a good restaurant here in Tennessee. We love El Sombrero and the staff! We've become regulars. If you're coming from the southwest, this isn't like the hole-in-the-wall taquerias back home OMG, I miss them!). It's more of a restaurant-style Mexican but it's very good and I'd recommend it to anyone! The margaritas here are from scratch and the best around. Just watch out! They aren't short on the tequila! Their margaritas are real good and their large draft beer is well....Huge! Great value all around. I am not even concerned about service since it has been open for about a week but it was good.
