Tried this place a couple times and was underwhelmed both times. First time I got the fish tacos and the fish was so overcooked. It was hard to chew. The best Oscars Taco Shop is in Athens Alabama. The Athens location has a salsa bar like we had back in San Diego at the Cotijas in PQ. The beans here at this location are super spicy and bland as well. The food was like almost every other taco shop in searching for the best Mexican food outside of California. I rate it high like this because I used to come to Oscars a good amount (both this one and Murfreesboro ones), and now that I live outside Nashville I miss the chain. It's a nice fast casual environment with good mexican food. The fish tacos are unique to them with whatever sauce they use. Nachos are good, quesadillas. This location is really bad, avoid. The burritos are much smaller and the steak quality is way worse. I got a California burrito, breakfast burrito, and carnitas burrito, all were not great. I don't know if it's an inflation thing but I'd rather pay more for the quality I used to get. read more

Doesn't look like much when you drive past but my husband and I were in the mood for tacos. Not a bad spot, we got 4 different tacos: Carnitas, Fish, Shrimp and Crispy Beef. The carnitas taco was by far the best one out of all 4. It was super flavorful, the meat literally fell apart in your mouth and was just so delicious. The other tacos were only just okay. The Fish Burrito was outstanding. Fish cooked perfectly, crispy, with flakey inside, not greasy at all. Combined with the shredded cabbage and sauce, it's perfect. (Almost, I always find there is a bit too much tortillas so I just tear off the excess). Husband had the Carnitas plate with Corn tortillas. What a great plate of food! Comes with rice, beans, pico de gallo, sour cream & Guacamole! Plenty of food and all tasty and fresh. The place is clean, the service is fast and the folks here are friendly. Ok - I love Mexican but this was not good at all. I ordered the Chicken taco salad and it was not really edible. The chicken was so dry and overcooked it was hard to eat. In addition, there were serval pieces of gristle which is not normal for good restaurants. It's offputting to bite into that. The salad was small and mostly overcooked chicken and iceburg lettuce. Very sad. There was one tiny piece of tomato, a little rice on the bottom and what tasted like supermarket shredded cheese on top. The guacamole is super running (WHY?). I've been making guac at home for years and NEVER have I had runny guac. It doesn't have a strong lime flavor so they have to be adding liquid to it. Again - WHY? Last item - chicken fajitas - same issue. The chicken was so overdone it was chewy. I'm sticking with Garcias! Much better food. read more

You don't expect to get San Diego style Mexican food south of Nashville Tennessee...Tex-Mex dominates the category. Oscars is a proper, SoCAL style Mexican restaurant. For anybody from Southern Cal, this is already enough for you... So stop reading, jump in your car, and go grab tacos. For everyone else, I will elaborate. The tacos are solid, the bean and cheese burritos do not have queso drenched over the top of them #QuesoIsNotARealFood, and the salsas, particularly the red, has both nice heat and flavor. While I have not had a chance to try everything on the menu yet... My family and I are chipping away. For those desperate for a Santa Anna / OC style crispy tacos, try the crispy beef. The shells are nicely cooked, the beef and cheese are generous and lettuce and tomato are fresh and cold... With a little of their red salsa...yum. They also have a nice selection of bottled beers and two Agua Fresca choices. While a number of restaurants that I like will likely not survive the COVID-19 shut down... I'm pleased beyond words that Oscars is still doing well. My son Bennett says, "The quesadillas are perfect"... There is no higher price from a nine-year-old. read more

The corn tortilla tacos are delicious. They are filling and reasonably priced. My only con is the grilled chicken is really "odd". It's lacking flavor and has a weird texture. Ordered the rolled tacos for delivery and paid extra to have delivered straight to my house. The rolled tacos not only were burned, but clearly had been left out a LONG time before they threw the guacamole and cheese on top to serve to a customer.
