Not a bad dentist, but Dr. Kim told me that I had advanced gum disease and needed special quarterly cleanings to the tune of $2,400/year. That seemed odd, as my gums appeared totally normal. I consulted a periodontist (bone and gum specialist), and he said my gums were fine. When I tried to schedule a regular cleaning with Dr. Kim's staff, they told me that Dr. Kim was firing me as her patient, because I had opted to forgo the very invasive treatments that she recommended. If they had been appropriate for me I would not have rejected the idea, but the endodontist said such invasive procedures carry an extra risk of infection and would be wholly inappropriate for me. Was it a failure of judgment on her part, or trying to make more money? Probably the latter, but possibly both. In any case, I'm glad I got an unbiased opinion from the other doctor. read more

Jade Kims office runs a dishonest business. From failed fillings to dishonest handlings. Jade Kim encouraged me to do invisalign stating insurance would cover 1k and I would pay 4k. I paid in full and then got billed another 1k. When I messaged the office that I had a covid exposure, they charged me $50 for a missed appointment. They stated that I had cancelled an appointment before and that they would rather me keep an appointment even with a covid exposure. Do not support this business. They run a fraudulent business, they lie and their work is less than up to par! read more

I found myself here on the recommendation of a coworker, after living in Seattle for 2 years and not getting around to finding a dentist. Needless to say, I was petrified that I'd find out that my mouth would need to be amputated. Or at least get a strong lecture. Neither happened, luckily. My hygienist was sweet and conversational, and I couldn't even hate her when she told me that I indeed had new wisdom teeth growing in (yes, a person CAN have more than four) that would need to be removed. Plus, no cavities--woohoo! *fist pump* Anyway, went back again today for my six-month checkup and had another good experience. The office has a relaxed atmosphere and everyone who works there is cheerful. Dr. Kim seems nice, too, although on average you see the actual dentist for 7 seconds total during your visit. They have all sorts of fancy-schmancy technology, too. Makes you feel like you're on an episode of The Jetsons or something. They even assured me I wouldn't have any more wisdom teeth! I'm not so sure, though--my great grandma was a shark, so you never know. read more

I had a friend recommend me to Dr. Kim and her staff and they have been just wonderful! Best dentist office I have ever been to! Very up to date, high tech equipment (their xray machine is awesome, much less radiation and you don't have to get out of the dentist chair to take them). The staff there is courteous, professional, informative, happy to explain what and when they are doing stuff, and took really good care of my jaw (since I have jaw misalignment issues which cause discomfort/pain). I even met with Dr. Kim and she explained what my jaw was doing, things to make it feel better, and she was very knowledgeable. I went last week for a cleaning and check up, went very well and actually enjoyed my time there (which is great, since I am not a fan of dentist appointments). This week I went in to get a filling and that went very well. Had a different dentist work on me but they were understanding of my jaw issues and made sure to keep my mouth closed as much as possible while still doing a great job on my filling. I would definitely recommend Dr. Kim and her staff to others! read more

My front tooth was neglected of care since childhood and needed a crown. Jade Kim & Belinda Song are hands down the most intelligent, futuristic & efficient doctors I've ever seen. Their technology is top of the line, they make the crowns in house which saves every one money. What's really special about this practice, and team? Their loving-kindness. If I could give zero stars, I would. Jade Kim replaced my dentist two years ago, she bought out his practice when he retired. Charlie was the kindest and most compassionate dentist. He was gentle, thorough and human. Lovely. I never feared going to him, and had been seeing him for TWENTY FIVE YEARS. Until today. Enter heartless Dr. Ratchet, with a lousy bedside manner, and promises that don't hold water. Sure, the practice looks like it's gotten a little facelift, there are massage pads on the chairs, and you can even get a paraffin dip for your hands, or listen to one of the house iPods while you're getting treated. That's where the niceties end. I went in for a cleaning and x-rays, and learned that two old fillings need immediate replacement. We scheduled this appointment, and the front desk girl and I arranged a payment plan, wherein both appointments' bills were rolled in to one, and I could pay a monthly installment, until it was paid off. Today I went in for part II of these appointments, wherein the bitchy front desk girl condescendingly informed me that there would be a service fee of 5% monthly, after three months' time. I said I knew that, thank you very much, I discussed that with the woman with whom I made the payment arrangement. 20 minutes later, I am finally taken back into the room, where bitchy front desk girl joins me, only to inform me that unless I pay off the cleaning bill today, they can't see me. I asked to see the dentist herself, and she came out swinging, in her inimitably soulless style, informed me that she's not concerned with her patients' financial status, that if she worked in a public practice she could treat people for free, but that she has to pay her employees, and that she's been burned in the past. I told her that I didn't want her up in my business, just to honor the arrangement her office had made me last time I was here. She flatly refused to see me, and told me that since their office had made a mistake in promising me this, that she'd eat the cleaning fee, but she couldn't treat me. I promised to never darken her door again, and I suggest that nobody else does, either. If you do, get everything in writing. It's been sketchy, she's an inexperienced dentist with no bedside manner to speak of, and this was the final straw. I am sure that good ol' Charlie, whom she replaced, would be ashamed of her actions and lack of ethics. I say it's fine to have whatever policy you want, it's your business. However, if you make a promise to a client, you should make good on it. After this review, I will be contacting my attorneys and the Dental board to file formal complaints. read more

I had to switch dentists due to insurance, so I tried Jade Kim. Strangely, after decades of no cavities, she finds one on my first visit, says I need a filling. I requested copies of the x-rays and took them to my old dentist. He took one look at them and said "no, that's not a cavity, that's just a shadow on the x-ray". That was 6 years ago, and it's still not a cavity. Also, the hygienist was unprofessional and incomplete in her cleaning. read more

If I could give a millions stars, I would. Dr Kim was my dentist for four years before I had to move to California. I have moved around a lot and have been to many different dental offices, none of which compare the wonderful experiences I have had while being Dr. Kim's patient. She, and the entire staff for that matter, was always really nice and friendly, they made me feel very comfortable. This was great for me because I never liked going to the dentist before I came to this office. I wish I could afford to fly back and forth to Seattle and keep her as my dentist, because I would in a heartbeat. I was shocked after I had read the above review because neither I nor friends that go to her have ever had such an experience. I have also had to make financial arrangements with them. It was very easy and they were very helpful. If seems to me that there was obviously something else going on with the above patient. If Dr. Kim was willing to "eat the cleaning fee" but was not able to treat her, it was obviously not the financial situation that was the problem. I have had some fillings done by Dr. Kim and, not only were they painless, they look great and according to my new dentist, they are top of the line. He could tell from my x rays and my exam that they would last a very long time. Does that sound like the work of an "inexperienced dentist" like the above review mentioned? I think not. read more

I used to rate this place as 5 star. Lately things have taken a turn for the terrible. There is a new second owner and all of a sudden the policies start to change. They are now trying to nickle-and-dime people instead of worrying about good care. Possibly because they have been growing in popularity lately. I have had childhood neglect of my dental care. I remember going to the dentist to extract a tooth from cavity. When I was in high school I had another dental appointment. After high school I took myself to the dentist to have cavities and root canals done at the UW school is Dentistry. As an adult I have had several Dentist ms to work on my teeth. Never have I had such state of the art and awesome proactive and determination to save my teeth from loss and corrections. I've been going here for abt 5 years (embarrased to say that it had been a few years in between visits lol). I had gone today for a filling and at the counter they checked me in and didn't say much more so I sat down. It had been 20 mins since I had got there (20 after my scheduled time) and I started to worry about how much longer I would be waiting; had other things to do etc. But they eventually got me in a chair and it still took a little time but the dental technician handed me a 10 dollar gift card to Starbucks for waiting! I wasn't expecting that and thought it was cool. Anyway the rest of the visit flew by and I was outta there before I knew it. Even though they were running a little behind today (Which happens! And I haven't had to wait like that before) they made up for it. I love what they've done with the office and they're very nice people . read more

Jade is still a wonderful dentist but a bit too "business like" the past couple of years.Seeing us as people first and then a mouth full of teeth would be my preference. First off, I have been coming here for ~ 5 years and have only had positive experiences. Last week that continued when I had a minor emergency. A tooth of mine, that was being watched, started acting up just before Thanksgiving break. The pain was rapidly increasing day by day and I was worried I wouldn't make it through the holiday weekend. Even with no available appointments, they were able to squeeze one in for me with Dr. Vaughn. He did a few tests and determined the nerve in my tooth had died and I would need a root canal (my first). He referred me to an Endodontist in the area who was also able to see me somehow the same day. I feel like I really lucked out. In the span of about 3 hours, I went from having deep aching tooth pain to having a root canal...and a few days later I am 100% pain free. What a relief. Highly recommend this place! read more

Cannot recommend. The office itself has been upscaled with cable TV and crayons for children, but the medical service is for the birds. Staff is mostly concerned about getting paid, which I can understand, but I spent 1400 for an amalgam crown, made a total of 8 visits for XRays, scrapings, filings and adjustments until it was right. Fortunately I was able to swap some free lip balm and an extra toothbrush. After such a ridiculous runaround, and absolutely no support except for recommending another (expensive) specialist, I went elsewhere for half the cost. Oh, I should say I called her on a weekend once, and, for tooth pain, she recommends an "ice pack" . So, bring your own painkillers to the drilling. read more

I had been to Jade Kim 3 years ago, and I adored her dental technician (whose name escapes me, but she's been there for years). I moved out of the country and returned and tried a dentist closer to me on Capitol Hill. I also brought my mom, who is disabled from a massive stroke several years ago, and has aphasia (she can't speak and understands little speech). The dentist on Capitol Hill didn't work out--they were only experienced with young, wealthy patients and just didn't get it. They were annoyed with her disability. They were annoyed that I was suspicious of them for trying to set-up a second appointment and charge over $1000 for a deep cleaning given she's disabled and on social security/disability. Still she had to get two fillings redone, and I had to get a cleaning. So I decided to go back to Jade Kim, even though I had to rent a car to get my mom there. There was some misunderstanding about the appointment times, I thought they'd booked us back to back, but they booked us both at the same time. They had to schedule an additional appointment to do the second filling for my mom, which was fine. It takes a little bit longer to work with her. The most important thing was that they were accommodating, and worked with us. I've noticed that people have a really hard time thinking from a framework of treating a patient with a disability--they don't understand that it's difficult to get them to the appointment, how it takes longer to communicate things, etc. But Dr. Kim was wonderful with my mom. It was a relief to find a dentist to trust. read more
