My usual spot had already closed, so I thought I'd try a Chinese restaurant I hadn't been to. If you are a pescatarian or vegetarian, prepare to be eating chicken. My sesame shrimp and vegetable egg roll were clearly cooked in the same grease as the chicken. It was an overwhelmingly disgusting taste for someone who hasn't consumed poultry in over a decade. Gross! Gross! GROSS! I snapped a photo before dumping it into the garbage. As you can see, I was ready to dig in. Even the chicken-y smell was overwhelming.

Technically a 2.5 Star. Small Chinese take out restaurant that reminds me somewhat of my beloved NY Chinese spots. They have a health department rating of A/91 so I figured I was off to a decent start. The service was okay. Nothing remarkable, but I was greeted as I walked in and my order was walked out in front of the counter & handed over to me. No complaints there. We ordered 2 meals: honey chicken wings with shrimp fried rice and sweet & sour chicken with fried rice. The best part of the honey chicken meal was the fried rice. No major complaints about the sweet & sour chicken. Definitely wouldn't pay $17 for this meal again & not sure if I'd go back here. The search for good Chinese food continues :-/

It's been years since I've eaten food from this restaurant so I was impressed that it has out lasted all the other businesses in the strip mall. Food Lion nor Ingles have made the cut so, I figured the food is probably pretty good. I ordered shrimp fried rice by phone and was given a 10 minute wait time. I walked into the place about 15 minutes later and noticed a great health department score on the wall (91 A). I received my order within about 5-7 minutes after walking in and headed home. I opened the box when I arrived home... The first thing I noticed was that the tiny shrimp had not been deveined. Second thing I noticed was that there weren't many vegetables at all. I saw 1 pea and a little piece of egg. The rice was really dark like maybe it was soaked in soy sauce. I figured I would taste the rice and avoid the shrimp, but it didn't taste right either. My son loves rice but agreed this was not tasty at all. I won't be eating there again.

I recently ordered through UberEats and was thoroughly impressed with both the quality and the value. The Sesame Chicken Combo For $15.00, the Sesame Chicken Combo is an absolute steal. The portion size is very generous--you definitely won't go search for a snack an hour later. * Sesame Chicken: The chicken was perfectly coated and flavorful. * Pork Fried Rice: A classic side that was well-seasoned and hit the spot. * Pork Egg Roll: Nice and crispy, rounding out the meal perfectly. Other Entrees Beyond the combo, the consistency here is what keeps me coming back. The Egg Drop Soup is always good and delivered at a good temp. Additionally, you really can't go wrong with any of their fried rice entrees; the House Special Fried Rice is a personal favorite for a reason. Between the fair pricing and the reliable taste, this is a go-to spot for a satisfying mea

I understand that the restaurant industry is filled with smokers, but I have NEVER gotten a whiff in, on, or around my food. Not until now! Where do they keep the brown paper sacks stored such that they smell like a smoke stack? Are the cooks smoking Marlboros in the kitchen? They take a puff and I get a whiff? I thought Puff the Magic Dragon still lived by the sea. Apparently, he's now taking up residence at the Red Lantern. Naw. Never again. Nope!

It's hard to find solid Chinese takeout, but this place is fantastic, and I'll definitely be coming back. The lo mein had the perfect texture and vegetable ratio, the fried rice was seasoned beautifully, and the veggies had a nice crisp to them. The sesame chicken was especially impressive--most places serve it soggy within minutes, but here, it still had a great crunch despite being takeout. The sauce-to-chicken ratio was spot on, and the chicken pieces were just the right size. The spring roll was another highlight--still crispy with a great crunch, even after the drive home. The shrimp were delicious and prepared just like I'm used to. This dish is lightly battered fried shrimp with a soy sauce bases sauce with red pepper and black pepper spices. It also features other sautéed veggies like green peppers and onions. The shrimp were spiced nicely, but also had the flavor of black pepper coming through. A lot of places don't get that right. The perfect mix of that spice red pepper heat and hint of black pepper are exactly why I love about this dish. The shrimp were fried perfectly and the veggies deliciously sauted. The Haemul Jjampong was a flavor and spice bomb. The broth was so flavorful and had a great essence of the seafood in it (squid, mussels, abalone). This soup is also for people not afraid of the spice...it was SPICY, but no so much that it was unenjoyable. The spice complemented the flavor and I loved it. The take-home of the leftovers was just as good the next day! If I had to say anything that they might think of changing, would be the addition of kimchi to the banchan. The banchan was ddanmuji (pickled radish, raw white onions, marinated white onion slivers, and soy marinated peanuts). A little plate mat kimchi to wrap around the Jjampong noodles would be perfection.
